This group misplaced a decimal point when telling my wife how much a procedure would cost so it ended up costing 10x what they said it would. They don't seem to ever make a mistake in our favor, do they? And then their billing department was so inept, that they actually thought that we had an insurance plan that had a $7,200 deductible (my wife has an excellent health insurance plan through the state). Anyone in the medical field should immediately know that this is wrong (I confirmed with the insurance to figure out how this place's billing department could be so wrong), but instead of trying to figure it out, they doubled down on it and gave us attitude to go with it. They ended up billing my wife double for the initial ultrasound and the follow-up. I'm still in the middle of figuring out how to proceed clearing their mistake, but it's proving to be a complete waste of time which is 100% due to their incompetence. Avoid this place like the plague.

I am writing as both a Kaiser Permanente member and a retired healthcare professional to formally…read moredocument serious concerns regarding my care over the past week and an ongoing pattern of deficiencies affecting my family since becoming Kaiser members in January 2025. Over the past week I have managed my fourth culture-confirmed E. coli UTI while experiencing a severe rheumatoid arthritis flare after being unable to take methotrexate for over two weeks because of repeated antibiotic treatment. The interruption caused severe swelling, pain, stiffness, insomnia, and significant loss of function. On July 18, Downey Urgent Care treated me with cephalexin after my urine culture confirmed E. coli. My recurrent UTIs appear related to failed estrogen patches that repeatedly would not adhere. My PCP prescribed a different patch and vaginal estrogen cream, which are now helping. My greatest concern was controlling my RA flare while methotrexate remained on hold. I contacted the rheumatology pharmacy, left messages, and sent Dr. Chang a portal message requesting treatment and temporary pain relief because acetaminophen was ineffective. Before leaving for Tennessee in June, I requested prednisone and a small quantity of Norco, the regimen successfully used by previous rheumatologists since 2019. Instead, Dr. Chang prescribed a Medrol Dosepak, denied pain medication, and I later learned from rheumatology manager Yolanda that Dr. Chang does not prescribe those medications. This policy was never disclosed despite discussing my treatment history. Yolanda promised to follow up before my trip but never did, and my later message also went unanswered. When the rheumatology pharmacist returned my call, she agreed I correctly withheld methotrexate while on antibiotics and said she would ask Dr. Chang to call me. No one followed up. More concerning, the pharmacist documented I was having a "fibromyalgia flare." I never reported that. I described a rheumatoid arthritis flare caused by interruption of methotrexate. That inaccurate documentation was later repeated in grievance correspondence. When I requested correction, another pharmacist told me to "figure out" how to contact management through Member Services and not call the rheumatology pharmacy again. I also attempted to contact my PCP regarding estrogen management and my urgent care treatment. Scheduling repeatedly insisted I see an unfamiliar physician despite my complex history. When I requested a supervisor, I was told I could not speak with one. Exhausted, sleep deprived, and in severe pain, I ended the call in tears and contacted Member Services. Although the representative was compassionate, my grievance was incorrectly documented as a complaint about a missing urology referral instead of my actual concerns involving rheumatology care, communication failures, PCP access, and lack of flare management. On July 22, my PCP appropriately addressed my concerns and arranged a urology referral. During that visit I learned another family physician had prescribed Norco. Neither my husband nor I knew why that physician became involved, and there was no documentation explaining the prescription. This reflects a broader pattern. Earlier this year I was denied a medically necessary wrist MRI after requesting accommodation for severe psoriasis and was forced to discuss private medical information in a public waiting room before leaving humiliated without my MRI. During my 15-year-old daughter's MRI, she was assured no male technologists would be present, yet male personnel later entered without explanation. My husband, a medically retired Army veteran and current federal law enforcement officer, also experienced months of delays obtaining appropriate spine evaluation despite worsening neurological symptoms before ultimately requiring urgent surgery. I respectfully request executive review of my rheumatology care, correction of the inaccurate fibromyalgia documentation, an explanation regarding the undocumented Norco prescription, assistance transferring to another rheumatologist, review of rheumatology pharmacy communication, grievance handling, the Bellflower Imaging incident, incorporation of my PIH records, and a written response outlining corrective actions. Since joining Kaiser, my family has repeatedly had to fight for communication, referrals, continuity, accurate documentation, and appropriate treatment. I respectfully ask that this complaint be viewed not as isolated events but as evidence of systemic problems involving access, continuity, communication, documentation, privacy, and accountability.

My stay at Kindred Paramount was truly a positive one. I was there primarily for physical therapy and occupational therapy, and both therapy teams were outstanding. They were knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in my recovery. They took the time to meet me where I was, challenge me appropriately, and support my progress every step of the way. In addition, the nurses, CNAs, and doctors were consistently professional, attentive, and kind. I felt respected and cared for throughout my stay. Everyone worked together to make my experience as comfortable and supportive as possible, which made a significant difference during a very vulnerable time. I understand that hospital and rehab experiences can be emotional for patients and families, and that can shape how people leave reviews. But based on my personal experience, the care I received here was compassionate, professional, and centered on my healing. I felt seen, heard, and supported. I am truly grateful to the entire team at Kindred Paramount for the care they provided. My experience was the complete opposite of what many negative reviews describe, and I hope this helps others see a fuller picture when making their decision.

My uncle was transferred to Kindred Paramount from a hospital much farther away when he was 93 years old, and he turned 94 during the more than two months he spent here. From day one, Onita Mitchell made an incredibly difficult experience so much easier for our family. She was consistently kind, accommodating, understanding, and lenient with us throughout his entire stay. When you have a 93/94-year-old family member who is seriously ill for more than two months, there are obviously going to be a lot of emotions, difficult days, changing circumstances, questions, and ups and downs for the entire family. I know that cannot always be easy for hospital staff to deal with, but Onita remained compassionate and consistent with us throughout all of it. Erica was another person who made a genuinely positive difference in our experience and in my uncle's care. There absolutely are good people working at this hospital, and I want to make sure the employees who deserve recognition receive it. Unfortunately, my experience with the facility as a whole was very different, and if I were rating the hospital itself alone, my rating would actually be lower than two stars. There were significant issues during my uncle's stay that prevent me from recommending the facility or giving it a higher rating. However, I also don't think it would be fair for the hospital's shortcomings to erase the exceptional treatment we received from individual employees. People like Onita Mitchell are the reason I am giving Kindred Paramount two stars instead of less. So while this is a two-star review of Kindred Hospital Paramount, please understand that Onita Mitchell deserves five stars and our family's sincere gratitude for everything she did for us throughout more than two very difficult months.

We tested him and h didn't have one. He literally just got there and in that hour they did NOT draw blood. How did they determine that he did not have a stroke without reviewing his troponin levels? Smh. I know an EKG isn't going to show them anything but current rhythms that may be cardiac related at the moment. Two days later after being asked again they wanted to order an MRI stat but he is claustrophobic and they didn't have an open MRI machine so he couldn't have one. This is upsetting that this place can operate and still operates with all of the incorrect methods they use to treat patients. Parking is crazy for the ER area. It's not really noted where to go. It's pretty dingy inside. I'm not sure how JACHO has allowed this place to remain operating. Gardena Memorial and their big partners need to really clean up. This is embarrassing. To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a…read moreseries of severe safety, security, and communication failures that occurred during my stay in Room 103 on the night of July 13th. This experience has completely shattered my sense of security, leaving me feeling entirely vulnerable and unable to sleep. Below is a detailed account of the incident and the systemic failures that followed: Incident Details & Failures Failure #1: Unauthorized Room Entry and False Representation At approximately 11:00 PM on July 13th, an unknown male wearing a yellow smock over scrubs and a face mask entered my room. When I asked who he was, he insisted he was my night nurse. I knew this was incorrect as both of my assigned nurses were female. Despite me telling him to leave, he insisted a second time that he was my nurse. Only after he looked at the whiteboard and saw my actual nurses' names did he say, "Oh, I made a mistake, I'm sorry." He then approached my bed to apologize again. When I asked for his name, he identified himself as A**ad before finally leaving. The shift change was at 7pm. How did he think I was his patient at 11pm? Make it make sense. Failure #2: Complete Lack of Response to Emergency Call Button While this unauthorized man was still in my room, I hit my call button, alerted the operator that a strange man was in my room, and begged her to send help. She promised to send someone, but no one ever came. After the man left, I called a second time. Again, the operator promised to send someone. Again, no one came. Failure #3: Delayed Escalation and Negligence I was forced to hit the call button a third time. The operator informed me that my night nurse, Gina, was back from her break but was on the phone. Out of sheer desperation and fear, I had to threaten to rip the IV out of my hand and walk down to the nurses' station myself just to get someone to take my safety seriously. I also called Security twice to file a report and no one came out to talk to me as of 1:37am. Context of Vulnerability I want to emphasize how incredibly vulnerable I was during this intrusion. I have an IV attached to my left hand and was actively prepping for a colonoscopy the next morning. I had just gotten off the toilet when this man entered. Because of my medical equipment and prep, I was physically unable to run or defend myself. Post-Incident Actions taken Once G**a was alerted, she immediately came to my room, listened to my account, and brought in her nurse manager. Because the Patient Business Office was closed, I left them a voicemail. I also personally contacted Hospital Security to file a formal report. Recognition of Exemplary Staff Despite the systemic failure of the hospital's security and communication systems, I want to formally recognize my care team. Gina has been incredibly helpful, efficient, empathetic, and deeply remorseful about what happened to me. A***a has also been exceptionally sweet, professional, and attentive to all of my needs. They are the only reason I feel any modicum of care here. Request for Action This was a terrifying security breach. A random staff member or intruder was allowed to falsely represent himself, approach my bed, and ignore my demands to leave, while the emergency call system completely failed to protect me. I expect a formal investigation into: Why "Ah**d" was in my room and why he insisted he was my nurse. Why the call button operator failed to dispatch immediate security or staff assistance during an active security threat. What steps are being taken to ensure my safety for the remainder of my stay. I look forward to your prompt response.

Despite bringing my concerns to the attention of at least six different nurses, no one appeared to properly document the issue or initiate treatment. To make matters worse, her essential medication for tremors was discontinued during her stay. Neither the family nor our care team was notified of this change. As a result, her condition worsened significantly. Because of her tremors, she requires assistance with meals. On multiple occasions, meals were left for her without adequate support, leaving her unable to eat independently. Our caregivers had to come to the hospital in shifts just to ensure she was fed. After escalating my concerns, I spoke directly with Risk Management and the House Supervisor. While they stated they would investigate the situation, no one ever took accountability for the breakdowns in care or communicated any meaningful findings from their review. As someone responsible for coordinating care for vulnerable seniors, I found the lack of communication, documentation, and follow-through extremely concerning. Patients and families deserve better. I sincerely hope the hospital reviews its processes to ensure future patients do not experience similar gaps in care.
