My hygienist also explained some of the areas my insurance wouldn't cover and let me know the cost if I wanted to pay extra for the services, such as oral cancer screening and use of fluoride. She was fantastic and had me walking out feeling clean and refreshed. The whole appointment I felt comfortable (they gave me a blanket to keep me warm and sunglasses to protect my eyes from the light). I hadn't been to the dentist in several years, so I knew th damage was going to be bad in terms of the level of cleaning I would need to have done. Additionally, one of my front teeth had been severely damaged to the point that that I needed to have a root canal done about 13 years ago. At the time, my former dentist simply out whitening inside my tooth and didn't recommend a partial crown. Ever since then, my tooth has been gradually darkening Soni knew something needed to be done. Not surprisingly, Dr Lee recommended a partial crown. As for the cleaning itself, I can honestly say it was the most gentle cleaning I have ever had in my life, despite the buildup of several years of not cleaning. The hygienists and Dr. Lee were extremely thorough and took the time to explain the health of my gums (surprisingly good considering the length of time between dentist visits) and the health of my teeth (which unsurprisingly needed to have a handful of fillings). I was so pleased with the cleaning, I will definitely be coming back. They had someone sit with me to go over billing before the fillings and crown were installed. This person went over my insurance benefits, what was covered and what wasn't, and to what extent I would need to pay out of pocket. Very transparent and before-the-fact, which is a rare trait to come by these days in the medical profession. As for the follow up appointment to get the fillings and crown done, again, I was extremely pleased. Due to the somewhat extenaive work involved, it was a little more invasive but still very reassuring to be in their hands. They painstakingly took every measure to ensure not only my comfort, but also to ensure that my fillings and crown were as perfect of a fit to my mouth as humanly possible. They took a great deal of time going back over the details again and again to make sure they got it right, which was fantastic. I followed him from his practice in Maple Valley and it is well worth the drive. Dr. Shah is a very experienced dentist and highly educated. And so is his staff! They move like a well oiled machine. They have easy parking available right out front and there are plenty of seats in the waiting room. There was one person working at the desk that was occupied with another customer so I waited for a couple of minutes.The place itself is clean, modern, and has a small section that provides coffee for guests. As a new patient, they needed to do an examination that entails about an hour and a half of x rays and photos. After doing the examination, I came back to do the cleaning with Dr. Chiang, she was extremely nice, helpful, and gave her own advice for the best cleaning. However, if you have sensitive teeth i'd recommend letting her know because she does go deeply into your gums for plaque, and it does hurt a bit. She was extremely kind and was super gentle with my teeth, and even described each process and step she was doing. What lost a star for me, the assistant finished up my cleaning by flossing, brushing, and polishing my teeth, she would just do things in your mouth without telling you it. Before polishing, she just stuffed my bottom row of teeth with a cotton pad and aggressively went back and forth, it hurt horribly. I mentioned to her that i'd appreciate her letting me know what she does, especially if it can be out of the blue, or a bit aggressive feeling. Despite her assisting Dr. Chiang during my cleaning, I assumed she realized that I appreciate understanding each process of my cleaning, as my teeth can get sensitive, and as most patients, we'd like to understand what is done.
