I had my first inspection yesterday. They took me after only waiting 10 minutes. The mechanic was very thorough and told me I had headlight beams that were too low. She fixed both in no time and I was out of there in no time. I highly recommend taking your car to ExxonMobil for your annual inspection. So here's the deal. They have over priced gas and they charge too much for services, but they have a decent mechanic who knows what he's doing and they usually get stuff done in a day or so when you might have to wait a week for other local places. Decent work for more money- the lady who talks to you in the station is super sweet, the guy with the white hair seems to stand around a lot. Overall, I'll take my car here when I'm In a pinch, but never get gas here. read more

Years of going to this station, thought when my 88 year old mom had an accident and needed to make a pit stop in the parking lot that this station would understand - when my moms companion saw my mom upside down in emotions he had a bathroom accident as well and during time the rudest gentleman on the planet drove by with his stupid ego and told us to get off the property. That is and was the last time myself and any of my brothers and family will put our feet in the station. Shame on me for going back. Fell for the oldest inspection trick. Need new wipers. Second time there needing wipers . I checked all lights and wipers before going. A one inch tear appeared on the wipers after a mile drive there. Mechanic had to pull pretty hard to get it to rip because I pulled on it previously. He swears up and down he didn't rip it. BS. Wipers are a easy and profitable repair. $18 for one wiper. Hard to burn out a light. They have you by the... Might as well pay the extortion. I should of never gone back after the owner failed and refused to pass a vehicle because of a warning light. I had to print out the VA inspection fail list from the VA state police website. He grudging approved upon my return. Just read others reviews. If you want gas that is 30 cents higher than any place in the area. This is the place for you. I went to get car inspected. The lady in front of me told me her car would pass inspection once her head light was "adjusted" and asked me if that was normal. I told her I never heard of that, but that they have you between a rock and a hard spot since it was the end of the month. The cost was $19.99. Low and behold they told me the same thing. I said I just had the car looked at a month ago so this did not make sense. I said what are the odds that two cars in a row had the same issue. They said it happens when a car goes over pot holes etc. Again, I couldn't do much because I needed the inspection. However BOTH of my head lights needed to be aligned ... probably because I pushed back on them. BEWARE of UPCHARGING not honest people. read more

These folks have always given me good service at a fair price. Once, I asked them to replace a scratched up headlight lens, which is not cheap. They called and said they could just polish the current one for just a few dollars and get most of the results of a new one. I greatly appreciated them saving me money like that. No, I usually don't buy gas there, but they've been providing routine satisfactory service on my cars for a few years now, and it's much more convenient than going to the dealer every time. read more

Beware, these people ALWAYS find a way to make, just a little more $$$$ off you, even with State Inspections....."You may need this, you may want replace that".....every single time. And the prices they quote always turn out to be higher after the work is performed. Told me during my last inspection that I needed two bulbs replaced, I told him.....fix them...because I knew I did not, as these were side reflectors, and had no bulbs. It angered him, that I questioned his appraisal, and made him look foolish. Then when He finished performing the inspection, He came out with two damaged wiper blades, and told me He had replaced them, (without even asking my permission) and it would be an additional $42.00. This place is the reason why you have to read Yelp before venturing into any business. Trust me, Yelpers, the reviews don't lie, for this place should absolutely be your last resort in care repair. If it were the doomsday apocalypse and this was the only option, I would still suggest searching for other options. My two favorite tales from this automotive quagmire involve a set of keys stuck in my car's ignition ($400 please) and an estimate to replace my car's alternator ($400 please part not included) Now in both instances I didn't didn't succumb to Jessie James and co.operation. I asked questions and quickly determined that something was certainly rotten in the great state of Belle View Exxon. Regarding, my stuck ignition, I pulled up to ask a mechanic to ask if he could get my keys out of the ignition. He said that he could but that it would cost $400. What!!? Why, so much? "Well, you see we have to pull the ignition and the part alone cost $200." "Hey, I got an idea. Why don't you just mug me..It would be quicker." I quickly drove up to Advanced Auto and found that $200 part for $13.50. My friend installed the part in less than 20 minutes, Now, I understand that this business cannot be blamed for the shenanigans of a rouge mechanic so that's why when my car's alternator died literally right next to this shop (I'm not kidding) I decided that it had to be a cheaper option than having it towed somewhere else. "How much to change out an alternator for my car?" The clerk to my information down, and said, "You can go out and buy your own part if you want and we will install it for you." Wow! that sounded great, for a number of garages never do that; however, my good vibrations soon came to a crashing halt when she gave me the estimate. $400 for labor..What!!?!! I reminded her that the alternator was on the top of my car's engine, and that the replacement of this part shouldn't take more than 30-45 min. So why the outrageous estimate. She started to stumble over her words, saying,"Well, it could be as low as $200, but we could run into problems. It could be less." I fired back, "So when is the last time you came in lower than your quoted estimate?" Silence I told her that I wouldn't pay more than $200, and miraculously, when they fixed my car, the price came in at $198.56. I realize that even this was a bit high, but I was desperate and eager to be on the road again. I would never take my car here again, and I only use this place for gas in the case of emergencies. The only thing I can say good about this place is that the lady who takes money for gas seems to be nice and pleasant. But as for the rest, no way!! read more

I took my car there for an oil change. They filled different fluid in my car like power steering, antifreeze and wiper fluid. When I went to pick it up they tried to charge me $89. The oil change is $49.. so they really tried to charge me $40 extra for some fluids..... The only reason they are still in business is their location. Overpriced gas, obviously. But they will try to rip you off ANY chance they get. Unbelievable. 40 extra dollars for fluid. That place is GARBAGE. read more

Sorry this is going to be a long post. I took my car to Belle View Exxon to get an inspection and to replace my brakes. I left my car with them over the weekend and they said I could pick it up on Monday. I picked up my car on Monday. I drove it to work Tuesday-Friday. On Friday I noticed my car was making a "clashing" metal on metal noise every time I hit a bump or a manhole. I have never heard that noise before. Then my car was making a "grinding noise" when I reversed my car and hit my brakes. I called Exxon on that same day, Friday, to let them know and they told me that they were closed and that the mechanic will not be back until Monday. I had work on Monday, so I was going to need my car. I took my car to my dad's house to have him take a look at it. He checked everything that he thought might be wrong but everything seemed fine from what he saw. My dad said that he was going to ask his cousin and they will look at it the next day. My dad and his cousin determined that the noise was coming from the left side. They took the tire off and looked at the brakes, which were just replaced 4 days ago. They saw one of the bolts that holds the caliper was missing and the other bolt was lose. My dad was able to use his hand to untwist it. So there was the problem-no bolt and the second bolt was loose. My dad went to the store to buy the bolt. They tightened the bolt and put the missing bolt on. No noise and it was all fixed. I took it to the station the next business day and spoke to the owner. I explained everything about my car and what happened and asked for some reimbursement towards the labor fee. He basically said that it wasn't their fault, I should have brought it to them. Then he proceeds to tell me that they don't touch the caliper to change the brake pads and the rotors. (You have to remove the caliper or move it out of the way to change the rotors.) The owner told me that he's been doing this for more than 20 years and that they didn't touch my caliper or the bolts. So I don't know how on earth my brake pads and rotors got changed without the caliper having been touched. I watched multiple videos and asked many many people with mechanical knowledge and they all say the same thing, to get to the rotors and pads you have to get to the caliper and unscrew the bolts. The bolts are on tight so you have to use a breaker bar or an impact gun to remove them. He said all he can do is give me $25 for gas. I said that it takes me $30 to fill up my tank and that he can keep his $25. P.S. my dad confronted him and asked him the same question. " So you said you don't touch the calipers to change the rotors or pads and he said no. My dad called him on his bullsh** and he did not like it. Told us to come and see the manager. If he's the owner I don't know how the manager is going to be able to help me. And if this is what he's telling people then I don't think he should be working on people's cars. read more

WAY overpriced gas. These folks think that because this station is the only one for blocks around that they can charge ridiculous prices for gas. Their state inspection service used to be great; if something minor was wrong with your car, (like a burned out parking light), they would attempt to simply replace it for you on the spot. Now, those individuals are gone, and they give you a REJECTION sticker for the dumbest stuff. They rejected my car, which I'd in near-mint condition because the windshield spritzer was weak. Ah yes, moving back to Virginia means getting the car inspected. Growing up, it was every six months; nowadays it's once a year. But it's still a silly scam, designed by the state to allow gas stations to gouge customers for needless repairs. In my case, it wasn't too bad -- I was held hostage for a single windshield wiper blade, for a not-unreasonable $17. Sure, the blades were new -- I put them in myself a month ago. And yes, I paid the $17 to get out of there without a "reject" sticker, which is pretty much what the inspector calculated I'd do. I sometimes wish the state would just change the inspection fee to $50 so the gas stations wouldn't feel obligated to play games. I needed license plates replaced and didn't have the tools to do it myself. So I stopped by at the Alexandria Belle View Exxon gasstation/repair shop, asking if they could do this for me. They provided the service within 15 minutes, while I did some shopping. But their fee was $10 - for unscrewing and rescrewing four screws! I had planned to give them a little tip, but I would not expect to be charged ten dollars for work that takes literally two minutes. Lessons: 1. Always ask about fees before doing business with strangers, no matter how small the service is. 2. Alexandria Belle View Exxon as a rip off place, at least from my experience. A slow economy is not a good reason to become greedy and reckless, and I will not support this place in the future with my business. We've taken our family's cars to this station for about 14 years, and I am not challenging the integrity of any of the other reviewers, but it's as if they are reviewing some other business. Belle View Exxon has kept our two older cars on the road safely for a long time. On the few occasions when I thought they might have recommended a repair I didn't need immediately, the station manager has always talked through the options with me. Sometimes I decide to hold off for a while, and sometimes I don't, but I get the information I need to make a decision. I keep a close watch on our finances, and whenever I review my repair receipts (which date back to 2002), I can find no evidence that they have ever charged me for an unnecessary repair, and when I calculate the total cost of repairs on a monthly basis, it's about what one would expect. Yes, if you're looking for gasoline, there are cheaper options that are closer to major highways. Thus, I don't get gas very often at this station, but I do take my cars here for maintenance whenever they need it, and if you live in the area I recommend you give them a try. read more

I'm sorry to say it, but these people are thieves. The pump charged me for supreme when I pushed regular, which amounted to a $10 overcharge. I usually don't get a receipt, but this time I did, and when I showed them the receipt (which does NOT indicate the octane) the lady printed a receipt which did have 'super' on it, and insisted that I pumped 93 instead of 87. I NEVER put anything but regular in my car, and I am quite familiar with Exxon pumps. The degree of preparedness that the cashier and manager showed in dismissing my complaint tells me that this is nowhere near the first time this has happened to a customer. It felt like a practiced scam, and I would strongly warn anyone from buying gas at this location. I intend to file a complaint with corporate, and may possibly seek a media exposure of this station. read more

This place says that it's 24 hours but the last 6 times I've been there to get something late night there is no one there. It pisses me off because Safeway says it's 24 hours and they close from 2-4 am. That is the only Place left to get cigarettes and no one ever is there. I wish I could give zero stars. This place is awful! I have never gone here before. Traffic was atrocious on rt1 making a trip to my normal place a journey instead. The first pump I pulled up to was broken without a sign stating otherwise. The worker there came out and shouted some gibberish as he saw me clearly moving back into my truck to move it. The next pump I pulled up to was ridiculously slow. I could have written 3-4 reviews on here before my tank would be full. I have always been wary of a maintenance service station with broken or slow pumps etc. It's not necessarily a car mechanic's job to fix odds and ends around the station, but if a station is too cheap to be maintained, they probably pay really cheap wages for their mechanics, replacement parts are low quality and the like. Places like these make me very happy I do all of my own maintenance on my fleet. Also, their gas is at least $0.20 higher than other stations in the area. I will never be back here, even if I ran out of gas in their parking lot. read more

This review is limited to fuel pricing. This Exxon is one of two service stations easily accessed from the George Washington Parkway, using the Belle View Boulevard exit. (The other one is a Shell service station easily seen from the Belle Haven Road exit.) In addition to be situated in an upper income neighborhood, and because there are so few fuel options for drivers along the George Washington Parkway south of the City of Alexandria, the station owner over charges for regular, supreme, and diesel. If you must use this service station, get enough gas (one gallon should do the trick) to get you and your vehicle to a more sensibly priced filling station. read more

The wait was crazy (should have left then) but when they finally got my car they told me the light was on and it failed. My light wasn't on when I gave it to you, so why is it on now! Then he proceeds to tell me I could make an appt with their mechanic...I THINK NOT! I left, my light went off, I went to another gas station and guess what...my car passed. I have only bought gas here a few times because I was desperate or dumb. The prices are up to 30 cents higher than the gas stations on North Washington Street in Old Towne, or on US 1. Even the Shell up the road is cheaper, and they are not "cheap" I think they can only stay in business because old people don't realize how overpriced it is. The first time I used this place I needed mid-grade so pulled up and started pumping from the middle pump. When I was done, I realized they had switched the high octane to the middle pump. No doubt this was to scam people that did not pay close attention. Since then I have looked at every gas station I use and it ALWAYS goes Low, Mid, High. Also, it was VERY CLEAR they had moved the labels because they were put back on crooked. I have NO idea where these bad reviews come from sure their gas is more expensive but no more so than other out of the way stations! And they are one of the VERY FEW full service stations! They are the worst service station and takes advantage of the elderly. My 71-year old mother was stuck near the gas station in the frigid 15 degree weather when her key fob ran out of battery and the engine wouldn't start. She wanted to get her key battery replaced and so went to the station. When she initially asked how much, they said $15. But after the lady behind the counter replaced it, it didn't work. Without asking, I guess she asked the mechanic to help. But because she asked the mechanic for "help" in replacing the battery, they charged her $49 labor charge for a BATTERY!! When my husband went back to see they would reconsider this charge, they flat out rejected him and said this is their policy when a mechanic gets involved. So my elderly mother had to pay a ridiculous amount of money because (1) the lady behind the counter could not properly put in the battery and had to ask the mechanic for help, and (2) this business took advantage of an old lady who needed some basic assistance. As someone who lives in the Belle View neighborhood, it makes me so angry that they would treat their customers like this. No wonder the reviews of this station is so bad. read more

While I was out of town in November, my brother brought my car here to have a headlight repaired. Knew it was more than just replacing the light - the power source was frayed. He made two trips here for the repair and it wasn't cheap. Three days after the repair, the light was out again. That's when I learned he had used Belle View Exxon for the repair. I was dismayed, but my prior bad experience with them was over 10 years ago. I dropped it off on the way home, and took the bus home; picked it up at the end of the workday the following day - the light worked on the way home. The following evening, after driving the car less than 10 miles, once again, the light was not working. Back it went. Finally repaired. But I can't recommend using them - something like this shouldn't take four trips to complete. read more

Terrible. Took my wife's vehicle there for an oil change and emissions inspection. Emissions failed due to an oxygen sensor. I said go ahead with the work. Well, I get a call from the shop after several hours telling me that they need to "get the engine hot" to do the test, so they want to have it for another day (they've already had it most of a day). Get it "hot?" Start it up, give it 15-20 minute, whatever, plug the sensor in and test. "Well we may not know for a day, or for two weeks if it's fixed." They simply wanted to go home and inconvenience me for another day to no good purpose. And when I told the manager how ridiculous that sounded, she hung up on me. Frustrated, got a ride down there, paid them, got my keys, and took it to the Shell up the street, where it passed in 15 minutes. (NOTE: this should be ZERO stars) I have lived up the street from this station for nearly 20 years now and have used them exactly FOUR times (about once every 5 years). I needed a safety inspection and used them only because of their proximity to the optical office I had an appointment. Of course I was told my BRAND NEW BRAKES failed and needed to be replaced. I said no (and showed teh receipt for the work from the week before), I will take them back to the place that just did them. Suddenly it wasnt the brakes but the EXHAUST system that wouldnt pass and needed to be replaced in its entirely immediately. They literally WOULD NOT GIVE ME MY CAR BACK! I threatened to call the cops and they put a fail sticker on. I took it to the brake place (who sadly doesnt do inspections) and they found NOT ONE OF THE FAILED ITEMS NEEDED WORK. I stopped buying gas after the first time I bought it 20 years ago and put "10 gallons" in my tank only to get around SEVEN. How do these thieves stay in business? read more
