*1/5 stars - Horrible experience at Salon Álvarez…read more Today I went to SA for my usual highlights, but the experience was a complete catastrophe. The stylist who attended to me was not the usual one, and she left my hair completely blonde!! It was like I went from being a brunette to Shakira overnight! I would never in my life ask for that kind of artificial and overdone blonde, and even less without consulting me. Also , during the process, before I realized the mistake, the stylist after two hours told me she didn't have time to cut or style my hair and that I would have to come back another day What ??? She left the dye on my hair for almost THREE HOURS, which I'm sure didn't help the situation. I was starting to get worried as the time went by, but I trusted that she knew what she was doing. Boy, was I wrong. When she finally rinsed out the dye, my hair was completely ruined. When the other stylists realized the damage, they tried to fix the mistake with a toner, but the result was .... OMG : now my hair looks gray It's unbelievable that they couldn't get it right in the first place, and their "solution" was even worse . I've been a client for three/four years and I never imagined I'd receive treatment like this. The lack of recognition and condescending attitude of the staff was what bothered me the most. They said, "This is the color we always do for you," acting like it was true. There was no "Sorry, we made a mistake".They acted like I was crazy and it was all just a fabrication!! Needless to say, I left without paying. Now I'll have to go to another salon to try to fix this mess. I have photos of my hair before, during, and after the disaster, so I can prove the evidence . I don't recommend this salon to anyone. The lack of professionalism and the staff's attitude is unacceptable. Look elsewhere for your hair needs.

EXCELLENT EXCELLENT E X C ELLENT! I absolutely loved my time…read morehere! This is not one of those reviews that has an extreme biased because I secretly work at the salon or one of them is a good friend of mine. I found this salon by looking online at cleveland's top hair salons and this was ranked in the top 5. Now, historically I have not had the smoothest rides when it comes to hair salons. Usually, I wait an hour after my appointed time before they even start on my hair and I feel like just another number that is paying someone's rent. Usually they don't EVER do my hair they way I ask and I end up in a frenzy with the stylist and end up looking like mustard and ketchup. But this time was magically different! Manesha, my new hair stylist (I'm proud to say) took such good care of me. Being a natural hair person, I am picky when it comes to who handles my hair. Not everyone knows what they're doing when it comes to my natural curls! I got my hair colored as well as a half highlight and it turned out absolutely fabulous! She catered to what I HAD IN MIND and she even offered me a complimentary beverage and snack. She gave me a head message after she shampooed me/during the hair process and she LISTENED to what I had to say. I felt truly appreciated as a customer when I was there and I GREATLY recommend anyone to go in and enjoy the same treatment! They are also priced very reasonably and you truly get what you pay for!

Her parents couldn't make it because they…read morelive overseas and the COVID travel restrictions made logistics too complicated, so I was the only family there. My cousin wanted to get her hair done for Prom, and found this place on her own through internet searches. She made a reservation based on good reviews she read. We got there a bit early and they got her in right away. She showed her stylist a photo of the kind of hairstyle she wanted, which was braids in the front connecting to a bun in the back (I'm doing a poor job of describing it, but it's a fairly simple style). The stylist started doing something, then undid it because it didn't look right, then tried something else again, and was clearly struggling a bit with my cousin's Asian hair (very straight and sleek). I don't blame her for this, since our hair texture can be tricky to work with if you don't have a lot of experience with it. After about half an hour of this she asked a senior stylist for help, which I thought was very appropriate. But then the senior stylist said to my cousin, "You need to make up your mind about what you want to do, because we can't be trying a million different styles. We're wasting a lot of time." I had been watching the whole time from the waiting area, and her attitude and tone of voice with my cousin made me really angry because she was trying to blame the problem on my 17yo cousin. I didn't say anything at the time because I didn't want to make the situation worse by making them mad, thereby risking them messing up my cousin's hair. The senior stylist did end up making it work out and the final hairstyle looked good (hence the 4 stars), but her attitude the whole time trying to make my cousin feel like she had done something wrong left a bitter taste in both our mouths.

If you have naturally textured hair that has curl or wave to it do not go to this salon. The cut you will get will butcher your hair in its natural state. Maria goes back and forth splitting her attention from one customer to the next. She will stop mid cut to go color another customers hair. She does not listen to what you want, she gets an idea in her head of what haircut you should have and does what she wants without even consulting you. First off, it's might be a little hard to find at first because it's tucked back in a shopping center off the main road. But once you walk in, it's a cute quaint shop with some neat decorating. My girlfriend said she thought the place made her feel relaxed right away. The appointment I had made for her was there (thank you) and they were right on time to take her. She left me with a big smile, a kiss on the cheek, and "see ya later". My job was done! I came back when I was supposed to and she looked awesome. Nice job on the hair color. I know, it might sound funny for a guy to comment on color, but it's easy to spot the red that comes out from a cheap coloring. Her hair had a real nice chestnut color without looking mousy. And her cut was exactly the way she wanted. Sweet. Her nails were done by the owner, she told me, and they had a blast talking about stuff (probably guys) and my girlfriend told her that we were headed for Cancun, so the owner put some little palm trees on her index fingers - nice touch! And she also said she really liked the pedicure and that I should get one. My friends have told me they're awesome for guys to get, so since this place rocks, I guess it's a good place for me to go get my first one. So, that's it. Overall, it was perfect. Easy to get an appointment, was on-time to start and finish, great quality coloring and cut, happy girlfriend, and good pricing in my book. What more do you expect? Definitely going back.
