Summary: This company does truly care about customer satisfaction. As David and Tom told me after…read morethings went awry: "We don't always get it perfect, but when we don't we try hard to make it right." I reached out to start the quote process a little before Thanksgiving and was quickly responded to. I scheduled a Zoom-based overview of the materials and services offered with David, as well as provided some information about my property and the windows that I thought I'd need to have replaced. The next step involved David visiting my home to measure each of the windows and assess their surroundings when putting together an estimate. He even brought a floor model window for me to test the ease of sliding it open and closed (it was very easy). Next, he provided me a quote for the six windows we had identified replacing, which included a Black Friday discount. The total was around $5k for materials and labor. I ended up swapping one window for another and he quickly updated the estimate for me. No pressure or need for down payment. After consulting with my wife, we agreed to move forward and the next step was for a technician to come and measure the windows to a quarter inch so that the dimensions would be sent off to the SoCal manufacturer and the windows constructed over the next 2-4 weeks. The technician also assessed the surrounding area of each window and told me what would need to be cleared to make space for the installation. Soon we got a call that the windows were built and ready to install. We were scheduled for first thing on Saturday, Dec 27, and were told that it would take most of the day but all of the work would be completed in the one day. On Saturday morning, Frank the installer arrived with another installer and got to work. We had moved lots of items away from the windows as needed, and throughout the day we saw the technicians as they would traverse the stairs and through the front door with materials, occasionally saying "hi" and just checking on how things were going. Later in the afternoon, Frank called me up for a walkthrough and then informed me he had two major problems: 1. All six windows measured were such that they required spacers around them to fill gaps that were visible on the inside. For some reason, they were not ordered initially. 2. Only five of the windows had been sealed from the outside because one window had a tree encroaching on it and they couldn't get a ladder up to seal it. Neither of the two visits had noted that. Tom was called and apprised of the situation at the end of the walkthrough, and with a new storm a few days away and one window not sealed, I went into panic mode. I emailed a full recounting of the situation to David, and began hunting for a tree trimmer to come ASAP so that the window could at least be sealed or the old window reinstalled before the rains. The next day, Tom called me and told me they were ordering the spacers and would have them by Monday, and that Frank could come and trim the tree so that I wouldn't have to pay for a separate trimmer. We ended up scheduling for Tuesday, and Frank showed up solo to finish the job. He trimmed the tree and disposed of the materials, added the spacers and sealed everything remaining. When all was said and done, we were happy with the windows and the way the company worked to make it right (and on a tight schedule). We did have to keep everything in its temporary locations for another few days, and we did have to get vocal about our frustrations, but Smart Window Company finished the job and called to check in on us after to make sure everything was good. The next storm hit and we haven't had any issues yet. The product is solid, and the company cares where it matters.

My experience:…read more So i reached out via yelp to andres and was replied to pretty quick. He was able to visit the following day to get measurements / estimate price. He was nice and explained everything. Plus gave suggestions... I gave a downpayment of 10% for everything to proceed. They then ordered it. Rough estimate would be 3-4 weeks for the entire process. They have a physical store in norco which was being run by Andres' wife. After 3 weeks or so give or take... i got a message that they were ready to install. Well within the time frame.... They informed me when they were on the way. They probably took roughly 2.5 hours. Lucas, Andres' son was present. Nothing was rushed and i saw how they handled everything... They can reuse your old door handle... but in my case, i bought a new one... just because. The price: It's pretty fair. It isn't cheap but you get what you paid for. For the peace of mind... ill do it again. Since i got a door replacement, everything was included. From removing the old one , to clean up, trash, installing... and thankfully.... the door i got doesn't need any paint. So it's pretty good. Threshold was top notch. And it seems water / insects wont be able to pop in. Will i choose to work with them again? Probably yes... Once i opt for a screen door... maybe in a couple more months once it gets a little bit cooler.

We had two 2nd-story windows in our condo that failed a water test by our HOA contractor. I had a good feeling early on in my interactions with Gerardo and they proved to be right-on. I would find out later that he has over 23 years' experience in this field. He and his associate were very professional and efficient. He offered to wear booties, but I vetoed it since they would be continuously going from our outdoor patio at the ground floor to our 2nd floor balcony in order to get the job done on the two windows. We have old skool faux wood laminate so I knew it would be a quick mop job for myself after their departure. He examined everything on-site and explained what they would be doing and products used. Once completed he further explained what else they did to ensure a tight seal. He even pointed out a nail hole in our gutter that he felt warranted further examination by our HOA contractor. I greatly appreciate experts in the field who go to the next level to ensure things are done right. This was a great experience with a contractor, and we appreciate them helping us get our condo back in shape.

He has patiently explained to me the technical differences between the window lines that I was looking at - Marvin Modern, Marvin Vivid, Western, Milgard, etc etc and revised quotes for me time and time and time and time again to try and optimize the price point. He has come out on site to measure, re-measure, and also supervise cutting a depression in the concrete slab to recess a Centor screen system .... When I was injured on the jobsite and needed skylights, Jeff brought over options and information on Velux skylights that I needed to keep the project going --- all while keeping in touch daily with emails, texts, phone calls, etc .... on Saturdays, Sundays, and the weekdays.
