After reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. We were only in Rochester for one night but I wanted to find a good place to eat at. The restaurant is large, with a bustling bar and a dining area that was designed to resemble Italy. The kitchen is also located near the bar, but it cannot be looked into. There are seats everywhere, with booths being the main seating choice aside from bar seats. We had s 15-20 minute wait but it was slightly longer than that. There was a large gathering at the bar. It looks like a Christmas party was going on. Daughter ordered the pasta arrabbiata. The entree has sautéed sausage, peppers, onions and mushroom in a spicy marinara sauce. It was served with choice of pasta and she chose angel hair. OMG. She thought it was nice and meaty and that the pasta had a wonderful texture. They definitely didn't skimp on the sausage and she was pretty full by the time she was done with dinner. She said that she would definitely order this again. It came with a a choice of soup or salad and she chose salad with parmesan peppercorn dressing. Daughter thought that the salad was a typical run of the mill restaurant salad but she thought that the dressing was phenomenal because she's never had it before and she's easily impressed. Hubs had the tripe, which was Italian style with tomatoes, herbs and topped with parmesan. What's weird was that it didn't come with any pasta and it wasn't offered. He ended up using the bread that came along with our meals to sop up the sauce. Other than that, he thought the tripe was nice and tender. If it was more spicy, it would've been better. He had a choice of soup or salad and chose minestrone soup. He thought it was ok. I ordered Sicilian calamari as my entree and decided to share it with daughter and Hubs and bummed off their meals as well. Everything was delicious. Service was friendly. Despite the restaurant being crowded, service was relatively quick. There was a slight wait between our salad and the entree. Hubs told our server about our daughter running low on blood sugar and they brought out our entrees fast. I was really awed by the service. The manager even came back to check that we were doing good. Even though it was rainy, cold and hard to find a parking space, I'm glad we came here. About 2 years ago we visited Bella Pasta and enjoyed the food. Just this weekend we treated our senses and palates with Italian Fare. This visit confirmed that Bella Pasta is as close to real Italian than most Italian Restaurants. This is not a Tex-Mex Italian version with Bolognese or Piccatta, this is real cuisine in a friendly and modest environment. We ordered the Escargots and Buffalo Wings, Rich and Poor. They were delicious, especially the Escargots. I enjoyed the Bella Pasta Bella Pasta Special that has Capellini pasta served with artichokes, Kalamata olives, onions, sundried tomatoes and mushrooms in a marsala wine sauce, and I added Chicken. That's when we met Jeff, a wonderful server who educated us on all the different dishes to try. They have the most wonderful Clam Chowder I've ever tasted, creamy goodness. When complimenting the owner, he advised that all their dishes were made from scratch, which is clear in the quality of each dish we've had to this point. The Italian Wedding Soup is very good as well. My favorite dish is the Capellini Pasta Salad. It's tossed in garlic and olive oil and topped with a chicken Caesar salad. SO GOOD! I would have never thought the two would make such an incredible combination, but this is on point! Order any dessert, you can't go wrong. No room after dinner? Bring it home - you won't regret it! The Carrot Cake is traditional and moist, the Berry Mascarpone Layer Cake is indescribable perfection, and the Cannolis - well, let's just say I savor every bite of this glorious sweet thing and there might be a moan or two involved. I had dinner at the bar and watched the Bills game. The young bartender was alone and very busy, yet she greeted each customer and was successful at keeping all happy. She also took and delivered the kitchen orders so my chicken parm arrived pipping hot. After the house salad, the entree portion could have served two, but I chose to eat minimal ziti and nearly finished the large portion of chicken. I am a frequent customer of this wonderful restaurant and the food is usually excellent. I was there for lunch today and ordered a very disappointing fish fry. The lunch price for the order was $17.00 and I was ok with that, but I would have expected better from this restaurant. It came with fries and coleslaw. The fries were good, the fish was ok, but the coleslaw was not good at all. It came in a tiny little plastic container and tasted like it was old and spoiled. I also ordered coffee and it was old and bitter. I hate complaining to any waitress about old coffee, but I should have done that. I just wish she would have asked, and it wasn't that busy at the time I was there, but she looked like she was too busy to care. read more

I give it a 2 rating because the food is good. Very good cooks. Here's the problem. I go to Bella pasta almost every day, if not everyday then at least a few times a week. The food is great, the servers are the best. I normally never have a problem and I try to never complain. I can't just keep letting this go. It's Sep 19, @12:15 I actually just walked out. I go in and sit at the bar. The girl working behind the bar, I'm not sure is she's slow, like mentally or she's just so flighty that it makes her seem that way. I sat there for about 10 min as she walked by me several times. She was to busy standing at the Register batting her eyes with a big grin on her face then taking care of the customers. I could tell others were upset as well but didn't want to say anything. Bottom line, she should not be a bartender. This isn't my first time dealing with her. Usually I get up and go ask for a table, so that's what I did. This all took place before noon. So it wasn't that full. Their were a lot of tables open. So I ask the hostess for a table, now she just sat a party of 3 people. She tells me it's gonna be maybe 15 or 25 min!! I looked around and thought, Why! There are plenty tables open, you just sat people. At least put me at a table. Then I realized it was the same hostess I had about a week previous that did the same thing to me. But that time I wanted a table she told me, 20 to 30 min and I walked away and sat at the bar. The bartender, Barb. Very nice woman. Great service I got with her. She's the best. I believe the hostess Recognized me from the last time and did this Purposely. But it's fine. I don't like to complain but I couldn't just let this keep going on and not say anything. I will find another place to eat I guess. It sucks because I really like that place. But I can't deal with Ignorance. The bartender is terrible. If I own that place she would be gone. The chicken french was highly recommended. I opted for the haddock french on escarole. I'd agree with other Yelpers that the French sauce is not thick but it is flavorful. The fish was perfectly cooked and flakey. Their Italian wedding soup had lovely little meatballs. I also sampled the pizza, the dough was delightful and well topped with veg and cheese. Food is awesome, attention to detail Pasta was cooked perfectly and meatballs were large. 'Joy' was our server and I can say she is great. Very attentive, polite and always there when you need her. I will say all of the service staff were great. They picked up our dishes promptly when I put them at the end of the table leaving us plenty of room. The restaurant was clean and well maintained. We had a funeral to attend in the Area. It's not too often we get dressed up so we wanted to make it worth it. Although you don't need to be dressed fancy. Casual is A-okay. We have always been wanting to try this place and we finally did! A decent selection of beers on tap. Although the waitress thought Guinness was an ipa. I'll just pretend I didn't hear that. Decided to go out on a limb and order something new. I got the stuffed haddock casino over angel hair. It was amazing!! The wife's chicken Alfredo was too thick for me. This is one of my favorite spots. Went in for the (beer battered) fish fry which came out absolutely perfect and crunchy. My wife got the breaded fish fry which was just as perfect. Horrible experience went there for the first and last time last night Dec 12, 2023. Took my mom and dad there for anniversary dinner. My food came to me swimming in a thick yellow oily substance could not even eat it was totally disgusting. Antipasto was terrible just a few peices of salami and a slice of Swiss cheese cut up. I'm sorry but that is not Antipasto it was basically a Julian salad. Calamari was swimming in oil and very slimy. Mom and dad meals were OK not great by any means. On February 25, my wife and I went to Bella Pasta It's the first place we went to for a date, more than 2 years ago. On this visit she had wood fired pizza which was very tasty and cooked to perfection. I on the other hand, had a bowl of tripe with salad ($13.00). It was cooked to perfection also. The week before my Italian friends and I went to another Italian restaurant not that far away for tripe, which was under cooked and just added to a light sauce. Bella's was, as I said cooked to perfection and in a delicious sauce. There was plenty of food to eat. The salad was really fresh and alot there to enjoy. Francesca was our waitress. Went to Bella Pasta for the first time with my fiance for her birthday. Had the cheesy garlic bread as a appetizer which was very good. I ordered chicken parm with artichokes and my fiance ordered just a regular alfredo and both were excellent. You get so much food you almost always will have to grab a to go box and for a appetizer, a glass of wine & two meals plus tip it was still barely a little over $50 dollars for two people. Only real complaint was with the Alfredo sauce that was so thick you could barely even eat it. Service was excellent as well would definitely recommend. read more

My husband and I went there again because we saw the reviews were getting better so we decided to give them another chance. Big mistake! I don't know who thinks the food here is good, but this place is horrible. Hair in the bottom of the salad dressing cup, rotten lettuce, tough chicken,and hard bread were just a few things.
