I've been going to Cindy for years because it's close to where I live and the pictures of her acrylics always looked good. The other thing I like is that she is super fast at doing acrylics. This was perfect for when I had to go in before work or on a tight schedule. I am pretty picky with my nails though and for me there's always little imperfections that I notice with my nails. They're mostly little details that nobody else would notice or even see in pictures but I see it and I paid for the nails so it does bother me. There's always a few nails that have an uneven or crooked shape. Other times I've gone from dark nails to light colored or sheer nails and there's parts where the old color underneath was missed around the edges and you can see it through the new color. When I go for a full set I usually am happy with it. When I go for a fill is when the shape and new color and thickness of the nail get more messy. For the same price, I'd rather go somewhere else. I asked for the nails in this pic but only on two nails and she said she didn't have anything but the star so she started putting them away. She said she could hand draw them but I said no. I told her I still wanted the star. Then I saw there was a moon I could get. I wish I would've been able to see all the shapes she had rather than her saying she didn't have them and putting them away without showing me. After I picked the star and moon I thought I would still get a second shape as shown in the picture two shapes per nail but she put her box away so I decided to just leave it. Idk if she was in a hurry or what. This was also the second time she forgot I had made an appointment with her. Luckily she was available and had time to do my nails but the last time this happened, she was overbooked and I had to wait for hours because there were a few other girls who also had appointments and some walk ins so I told her I had time to wait so she wouldn't lose those customers. I hadn't reviewed before because I knew they were just little things that I didn't really mind. However, now that I've seen friends with better nails and much more complicated designs for the same price as mine, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. read more

The nail tech cut two of my cuticles so low my fingers were bleeding. The paint is bulky and messy and the acrylic is uneven. I wouldn't recommend this nail salon to anyone. The nails looked decent but i paid over $100 for my nails and feet on June 23rd. Its only been a week and my nails are already lifting. I will never come here again. I wanted to try a different place since the nail shop i go to does decent nails also but they are $50 CHEAPER than bella nails. Stick to what you know i guess. read more

Everything was wonderful and exactly how I wanted. Especially my eyebrows and manicure. I like my nails super short and a lot of nail places I have gone to don't exactly comply with how short I want them or they do them but don't paint all the way to the base but Julie had no problem and made them on point! Also, I rarely get my eyebrows done and pluck them myself due to the fear of having them f%#€ked up but Julie cleaned them up perfectly without taking off my entire eyebrow! I usually don't write reviews but I just moved to San Diego 6 months ago and have been looking for a good nail place. This is not the one. After 2 weeks my nails are lifting and so easy to pop right off. I saw originally one lady and the work wasn't good after a week and a half and I asked for a refund or some type of compensation and they charged me $40 with Kim whom they say is the best. (But still charged almost full price. ) Her work looked good at first but it didn't last. I liked how fast they were at first but then I realized the fast work means probably not the best quality. They also were sort of pricy $50+ every time I need a fill for basic nails no design or nothing. $5 extra to clean my cuticles ? Ive never paid extra for something that should be done each time and should be included in the $50+ prices. I used to get my nails done for around $30 with design every time when I lived In NYC and they'd last for at least a month. Hope this helps whoever is looking for a good nail salon not to come here. read more

Nails looked great online so I thought I would give it a try for a full set , showed a photo of how I wanted it to look like , I was so happy with the color selection, shape , nail art . The wax lady reused the same wax stick after I had asked her if she did she pretended not to understand so I recorded just to make sure she didn't but she did reuse same stick whole time! I walked in today to get an old acrylic removal and a new full set and the service wasn't good at the very first moment. I waited because I wanted to give it a chance, and as they started, they weren't even careful on removing my old set and it literally felt like they were pulling my nails off. As she starts to put the new set on, I asked her to reshape it the way I like because she was just keeping it as "raw" as she could and she gave me a bad attitude saying that I should've told her before so she wouldn't waste her time (???) I also asked her to clean my cuticles so it would be a neater job but she tried to charge me extra $5 for the service and I denied to pay because I was never charged extra for basic cleaning services on my nails when getting my full set of acrylics. Plus all the techs stopped and started watching the lady getting my nails done, while whispering and laughing on their language which made me feel very uncomfortable. I got a gel mani-pedi, french tip for my mani and white for my pedi. It was my first time coming here since a lot of other salons are closed but this one was taking appointments! Cindy did my mani and it was great! Everything I asked for she was so nice and professional. She asked me if I liked the shape/size/color before continuing to each step which I really appreciate. First I want to say that I really appreciate this establishment because they are open through this tough time. And at the end of the day my nails look good. I am writing this review because although I have only been here twice I've noticed some things that need some improvement. The first time I came in I called ahead of time and set a appointment for a full set for 3pm, I showed up at 3 and Cindy (the very nice owner) asked if I wanted a pedicure and I agreed. She ran my water for me but I waited for about a 45-50 min before anyone came to me. My water was very cold. But they were busy so I understand. When I was finished Cindy did my nails. She did a good job and she worked fast. ***but while she was doing my nails she mentioned that her salon doesn't make appointments, it runs on a first come first served type deal. Which is fine but I don't think someone should set appointments and not have time and a slot for the customer? So maybe just say we don't run on appointments**** Today I came in and again, my water became cold as I waited and my tech worked fast but she did not do a good job. She didn't take the time to remove all the polish off of my toes, she walked away to do somebody's eyebrows. (Which was unprofessional to me) and she was sloppy when painting my toes. She didn't really clean it up well after either. When I walked out I noticed that she put so much polish on my nails it was dripping off to the side. I had to clean in myself. I love Cindy because she is so nice and I love how she does my nails. But I feel the time management here is off. read more

Let me start by saying I'm not entirely sure how many stars to give. I'm in town from Portland and went to this establishment based on the reviews. I received 2 services. Service 1) Pedicure (their #1 option). It was a standard pedicure and the woman who did it did a nice job. I asked for regular polish that matched my shellac - not even close but honestly I'm not that picky. It would have been nice to be asked if the color was okay. (Also I couldn't see my toes as they had a pillow on my lap getting the manicure and pedicure simultaneously) Sevice 2) Shellac/gel manicure and an acrylic overlay on my thumb to even out a nail I had broken. Nancy did my nails. She was extremely rough - kept nipping my skin with the cuticle clippers (I said it hurt a bit she said sorry but nothing changed) and when she used her nail to remove the excess polish around my fingers she "dug in" too deep (I mentioned it hurt and she again said sorry but nothing changed). Nancy finished my nails and said my manicure came with a parrafin dip. Great. Parrafin dip done and went to check out. Here is my frustration. I went to check out and Nancy gave me a lot of numbers very quickly and my total ended up being $60. I asked her to clarify. Now I'm not a math whiz but if I'm not mistaken 21(pedicure)+28(manicure) +5(acrylic fix) should equal $54 (those are the prices SHE gave me). Nancy then informed me that the parrafin dip (that she told me was included) was $6. At this point I was ready to leave so $60 it is. I told Nancy I had the $5 coupon from yelp - $55 right? Wrong. She reworked her math and then my new total with the $5 off is now $59. At this point I just wanted to leave. So I paid. Glancing at my nails they look nice but when you look more closely the nail she repaired is square while the rest (well most) are tapered, and the ends that should be flat are slanted (some not all). Also a couple nails have little bubbles. The upside is the salon is very clean, the tools are sterile and they have many colors to choose from. read more

I requested a gel manicure but when I arrived was talked into getting a powder dip manicure. I never had one before so didn't know what to expect. She said it would last 1-2 months! Not one word was said while she worked on my nails. One hour later my nails were done. They are sturdy but lopsided and uneven, and the tips of my nails are basically see through. Probably another dip in the powder would have made all the difference, but I'm very disappointed with these results. Definitely won't be going back. read more

Found this gem as a new San Diego Resident & I was looking for a nail technician that took time and had an eye for quality, attention to details and sweet. I found that in the lovely Julie for nails & toes, she's the best. She shapes my nails on point & she the type you can tell she really cares about what she's doing. She zones in and really nails it (no pun intended) lol This place really makes you feel at home. There is a sense of relaxing here but I'd suggest if you're one of those looking for a "zen" moment, it wouldn't be your cup of tea. Horrible experience. Do not recommend whatsoever. I kept looking for reasons to not leave a poor review but it was one bad experience after another. I made an appointment for a mani/pedi and was left with my feet in the water for 45 minutes before the service started. The water had gotten cold two separate times. The pedicure itself was sub-par and the polish was done extremely poorly - so many crooked lines that did not line up with the cuticle. I was also charged for a gel pedicure and it most certainly was not. Finally when they start the manicure it is extremely rushed. The lady doing my manicure apologized for making the lady next to me wait even though she had waited for a significantly less amount of time than me and I received no apology. Instead, I received a rushed, very poorly done manicure. My natural nails were sticking out the sides of my acrylics, there was glue stuck to my finger, there are tons of bubbles in my nails, my cuticles were not cut, and there was no other aspect to the manicure besides throwing on the nails- no nail treatment hand lotion, etc. I came to this salon because of the yelp reviews and had told them that when they asked. These 5 star reviews must of caught them on am extremely good day or have been put up by those that frequent the salon and are close with those that work there. If you're a new client - watch out. I caution you not to waste you're money or time here. I was here for over 2 hours and was late to an event later.... so much for making an appointment. read more

She is caring and attentive, spent a lot of time with me, and was concerned with making sure I left feeling better than when I arrived. The salon is very neat and I liked the colors. The ladies working are kind but we didn't have much conversation. I arrived at 1430 and my feet were in water by 1440. The water got cold by 1500 and I asked for more hot water. My services started at 1530...one hour after arrival. I witnessed 2 other walk-ins get the same treatment and a third walk-in said she would come back and when she came back over an hour later she still had to wait. I think the business was really busy yesterday and they could benefit from telling people up front they are busy, under manned or whatever the reason could be. The typically "pick a color, 20 mins" was not accurate. However my nails and feet turned out very nice so this would be three stars BUT my brows SMH I am unhappy. I requested brow threading which I've gotten for at least 2 years. The shape is nice but I walked away sore and this morning have scabs under my brow. This has never happened! I can be patient and wait my turn but there should be honesty with the wait time and updates once the original time has passed. Wait time and scabs are reasons I won't return. First and last time I come here. I was just there an hour ago. My nails look so bad. Very patchy and uneven. I am very disappointed. I told the lady I had an appointment after so I only had an hour. I waited a good 15 minutes before someone finally helped me. She didnt even say anything, introduce herself or ask what I wanted. She just grabbed my hand and started filing. I told her I wanted a gel mani. She kept going, filing, clipping etc. Roughest and most painful manicure I have ever gotten and I have been doing my nails for 20 years. After all that my nails look like crap. I even said it was my first time there but no one cared. I was charged $32.00, again no one gave me a price and I still gave her a $5 tip. I dont mind paying to get my nails done, obviously I expected better...I am not at a different nail salon getting them re-done! Giving it a 1 star just because it wont let me post without it. Cindy reached out to me to either re-due my manicure or give me a refund. I had my nails done at a different place already so I appreciated her giving me a refund... she mentioned that her nail tech didnt speak English therefore she couldn't communicate with me. Came here for the first time today. Lana did my gel mani and I didn't catch the guys name who did my pedi but they were both awesome. I will definitely be back! Forgot to add, I got my eye brows waxed too. And yay! Finally found a place that can CLEAN them up instead of wax them all off lol. This is also important to me, everyone there was super friendly. My dude is normally uncomfortable getting a pedicure in a salon. When we walked out of there he said he didn't feel weird in there and he will probably be coming back too! Honestly I am sad to post this review. I went in to get a full gel acrylic set (which I love love love) and a pedicure. The atmosphere was relaxing and the ladies working there were so sweet. BUT I now have a bad infection where the girl doing my pedicure cut my cuticles badly. I had to go to medical and get a few shots to prevent the infection from getting worse. I'm at a loss for words now and I'll just post pictures. read more

038 / 100 - 2016 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. I'm gonna start off this review by saying that I don't take good care of my feet. I SHOULD, buuuuut I really don't and honestly could care less about how my nails are cut, how they look, etc etc since I just shove them into shoes anyway. Because I don't give a monkey's butt about my feet, I inevitably cut my nails incorrectly. (What do I not do incorrectly though?) For a while I've always cut my toe nails with rounded corners. If you know anything about taking care of your feet, YOU DON'T ROUND THE CORNERS. Doing so will lead to the possibility of getting ingrown nails... something I had to find out the hard way. :'( :'( :'( I've had my ingrown toenails for a while now and, honestly, they weren't that bothersome, but they've been annoying and getting a little more painful over the past week. So because I was scared to schedule an appointment with a podiatrist (have you SEEN what they do with ingrown toenails!?), I decided to find a salon that could help trim the sides so that they could MAYBE grow out properly. Bella Nails & Brows was the highest rated salon in the vicinity and had great reviews that talked about how Julie (a god among people tbh) solved their ingrown problems. I scheduled an appointment for lunch and arrived there a minute or two behind. No bigs, thankfully. I was greeted with Lana (I believe that was her name) and she asked what I wanted. Since I was on lunch break I said just a pedicure, but she said they could paint my hands at the same time... so I caved because I can't resist those hand massages and thought "ok what the hell, why not!" I just want to start off by saying that everyone here is super nice, very friendly, and polite. I got their second tier package for my feet (it included exfoliating scrubs, etc etc) and I really wish I had scheduled an appointment where I didn't have to go back to work right afterwards bahahaha. Lana and Julie are AMAZING at what they do and so, so meticulous. Julie really got into my ingrowns and did such an awesome job trimming the sides -- my feet felt so good afterwards and they still do. I'm Vietnamese, but speak very, very poorly so it was fun to listen in on Lana and Julie being sassy Vietnamese ladies (making fun of each other, talking about how I look really young for my age [25], so forth). Obviously they realized I could understand so we got to hold a pretty decent conversation about my family and their's, but it was nice and relaxing. They weren't pushy and over the top. They finished everything (hands and feet) with about 5 minutes to spare and then I was off! I kind of wish I had tipped more because they were so efficient and did such an amazing job, but I will definitely be tipping more the next time I am here. I arrived at 5pm to get a fill and waited 30 mins when I called asking if I can get a fill with a design and the person who answered that she can take care of me right now. Ii was seated about 5:30pm and the design I wanted she did both my hands until there was smearing all over the nails. I explained it to the nail techs and she just explained it looked ugly and removed it. She filed way more off my nails than needed. My nails are super fragile right now where I know one can crack. These nails are nowhere near the same shape either. Also, the ladies in there started arguing very badly, in front of this father with their 3 daughters. This father that came in with their daughter for one was over priced, it took 10 mins for them to get a pedicure with gel and the 3rd little girl just had a polish mani, all $75 for them, which I understood that fathers frustration too. But now the gel on one is peeling and something looks wrong on another. I forgot to mention i just had these done yesterday 10/13/10.
