We've always been pleased with their food and their drinks on the regular menu. The specials aren't usually very...special...at least in our experience, but that's not a huge deal. Atmosphere and food were good but waitress was very unfriendly and slow. She didn't come initially for perhaps 10 min and when we ordered water didn't ask if anyone wanted lemon. When the bread came we weren't provided with olive oil and Parmesan cheese, only butter. No drink refill of my iced tea was offered. Very good Italian food. Service was excellent. Only complaint was paying $25.00 for a bottle of Chateau Ste Michelle Riesling (retail value 5.00 in liquor store)..Thought this should have been priced at $18 or $20. What can I say. Just had to post this!! Many in the restaurant can attest. While spreading butter on my second slice of appetizer bread, I found a fresh peice of gum (already chewed!) that looked like butter inserted in the dipped butter. I could have gagged--OMG!!!! SICK! read more

Waited 1 1/2 hours for food, never saw a manager but looked for one. No one but our waiter seemed to care about us and he was horrible. Never brought what we asked for forgot things 2 times asked for a menu before we got it...never got bread with meal after requesting it never got drinks till the 2nd time we reminded no one else there seemed to care or help.....I may be spoiled by better places who have 1 person filling my glass and another filling the bread bowl and still one more clearing the table but this place charges like they do and the experience is more like Steak and Shake...$200 down the hole....would not recommend read more

Excellent Italian dishes, especially any sort of pasta, particularly the lasagna. It has a very romantic atmosphere, as it's really dark and has a lot of wine options, so it's not an ideal family restaurant, but it's very nice. read more

A surprisingly beautiful authentic Italian restaurant in Springfield. The decor is classy and romantic, but the romantic vibe is slightly diminished by the crowded layout of the tables- very little privacy. The food may seem expensive at first, but you get large portions. I ended up paying no more than I would have for yucko Macaroni Grill. I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiano- thick, firm steaks of eggplant fried crisp but not greasy with chunky, tangy marinara and creamy cheese on top. You also get a side- either potato or pasta- and a salad. I had the spicy spaghetti, which was delicious! Kalamata olives, garlic, and onions. mmm The caesar salad was good too and features homemade dressing. Be warned, they put whole anchovies on top, but will remove them upon request. A large and delicious meal- I had leftovers for a lunch sized portion. The only downfall was the service- for having about 4 tables our waitress was scarcely at our table and was not very helpful. I went 10 minutes with my water glass empty before she noticed. read more

Words escape me to adequately describe our great experience here October 28th 2017. The Memorial Hospital (Springfield IL) School of Nursing, Class of 1962 had our class reunion here. The manager, Steve, was absolutely wonderful; very accommodating and helpful. The staff serving us were remarkable; professional, kind, helpful & efficient and the food was deleesh! Just driving back to hotel after eating at Bella Milano in Springfield. The decor and ambience were decent and the bathroom was clean. Our waiter delivered appetizers after the main course. The pizza crust seemed store bought, and the cheese burnt, and flavorless, and had only a smidgen of sauce. I have to be honest and say I have had microwave meals that were better tasting. I was surprised there were so many positive comments about this restaurant. This restaurant would never survive in Chicago. Didn't want to give it a star but I had no choice,Yelp wouldn't allow it. read more

Went here with a large group of friends. Great atmosphere. This place was packed, so you know it's good. I do agree with the other reviewers who thought the tables were kind of close together, but it didn't bother us at all. They do have a couple separate party type rooms too. I had the baked mostaccioli with the spicy marinara sauce with the Bella Milano salad. I highly recommend the salad & getting the spicy sauce on whatever pasta you get. My boyfriend got a chicken dish that he really liked as well. I don't think the prices are that high for a huge portion of food and 2 sides on top of the freshly baked bread with olive oil that you get. Our waiter was a little squirrelly, but his service was good so I can't complain much about that. I never had to wait for refills, etc and he was busy. I hear they are getting draft beer soon, but right now they only have bottled beer. I will return here. read more

Very surprised by all of the great reviews. My pasta three-way was very greasy and overly sweet. The bread is not dense and crusty like you find at an authentic Italian restaurant. Service is geared to turning the table as fast as possible. This place is a great alternative for the Olive Garden crowd. Mangia is a much better option if you are looking for delicious food with great service. read more

I just dined here for the third time. Previously, I;ve had a dinner special but this time I had the chicken spiedini. It was delicious. I've never had anything but high quality food and service here. Was taken to lunch here by business associates. I had a grilled chicken salad with the house dressing, sort of an Italian dressing, and it was great. The other two people had salads with the same dressing. They eat here often and suggested the salad. Great place and I ate a pretty healthy lunch for a nice change! read more

Phenomenal! My boyfriend and I ate there last night for our 4 yr anniversary for the first time ever and were so impressed. The atmosphere was romantic with blue walls and dim lighting. The food was flavorful and the service was great. Andrea was our waitress and she was so nice and helpful. We ordered the Bella trio as an appetizer. I highly recommend it. The salads were amazing. I ordered the beef Milano which was fantastic. For desert , we had the fried cheesecake. We left happy and very full. We will definitely be back. Worth the money! read more

The price does not meet the quality. Food preparation doesn't make sense. Example, my fiancé and I had an appetizer platter. Hand made toasted raviolis, calamari and cheese sticks. The same breaking used on the ravioli dough was the same breaking as the calamari and the calamari was chewy like rubber bands. My entree was the surf and turf beef medallions and butterfly shrimp. The shrimp were really good. The tempura batter was light and crispy but couldn't figure out why it wasn't used on the calamari appetizer. The medallions were good but for 39$ I'd expect the gravy to be better than a beef flavored gravy packet from Walmart. It was thick and powder like. Clearly not made from the beef drippings from the meat as would expect from this type of establishment. I think the biggest turn off was the service staff. Seamed to have lost care for what they were doing and relying more upon the bill prices to receive a tip. I will say the Tiramisu was a saving point on the meal. I can't say that the wall of Illinois best awards proudly displayed in the entry are well earned and more from luck. Good highlights but not for the price on the bill. read more

Have now been to this establishment twice. The first time my steak had to be sent back once because it was way under cooked when it came back it was perfect. That can not be said for my wife who had sent it back three times with is still coming back under cooked. But our server was great. Flash forward to yesterday. My wife ordered a steak again this time the steak was asked for medium and it was so well done it was charred. Sent it back and we got it back still over done and looked like a New York strip not a filet as ordered. The manager came over to see how the steak was. I asked him about the steak and he said they butterflied it to cook it faster. I have never heard of that also it ruined the filet. The only reason for a two star was my food was good. But I could have gotten just as good at Olive Garden. read more
