Dinner night out at Bella Luna was absolutely delicious! We were seated within minutes of arriving. Water, Bread/Oil was served immediately. The bread and oil were yummy; we received a second helping of it :) We ordered a Caesar salad, chicken alfredo pasta and lamb/risotto meal. The food was excellent, and my husband said it was the best lamb he has ever had; he is still talking about his meal the next day! The dinner room was quiet and comfortable. Bella Luna's ribeye is so delicious. Good cut and quality. The sides are now Brussels sprouts and potato wedges or you can ask for polenta. The Brussels sprouts are delicious (I know). I think it's baked with a little drizzle of honey and a house balsamic vinegar. Anyways I always finish the sprouts and steak. I would definitely recommend the ribeye. You can't go wrong. read more

We aren't from Merced. We like to try different places but like all new places we get a little nervous. Bella Luna was inviting and cozy, the owner was amazing, the bartender was great and the food was super duper great!! We wish after hours it was a dance place lol. Great venue area. Love it and will go back each time we are in Merced!! We had the coconut shrimp, calamari, wedge salad, zuppa tuscana and tiramisu. Our drinks were lemon drop shots, Colorado bull dog and white linen. Amazing!!! read more

We stopped by Bella Luna for a pizza last night. The crowd at 9:00 pm was lively to say the least. We were seated and my love ordered a drink and small talk ensued. About a month ago we met a young lady (Paola) at a different establishment outside of town and she mentioned she worked at Bella Luna, she saw us being seated and came over and said hello. The pizzas are a big hit at Bella Luna as I watched 9 pizzas made after we had arrived. The crust was perfect for our liking. I had heard how delicious the pizza was and it did not disappoint. we waited about 15 minutes on a Tuesday evening for a group of 5 work colleagues. Service was responsive and answered any questions with knowledge. Food was well prepared and well seasoned. Ambiance was nice, perhaps a bit loud as the room was nearly full. Love the exposed original brick wall showing through. Would not be surprised if we end up there again later this week. Booked a lunch reservation for a group of 20 in early March. I had been to the restaurant back when I lived in Merced (2015?) and I remember it fondly. However, I was blown away! Giancarlo took care of all 20 of us. The entire group had wonderful things to say about the food (lunch buffet options, I'll update specifics later)! We had a few people with dietary restrictions and Giancarlo was very accommodating and suggested what he could do for the individual. The cookies were fantastic! All around great. I enjoyed my food and my time there so much I forgot to take pictures of the set up (Tuscan Room). Definitely recommend to locals planning a nice lunch with excellent service! I'll be back for lunch soon; and will definitely think of taking a group there again in the future! read more

The food was terrible! A mediocre home cook can make better food. The chicken was very noticeably frozen and extremely bland. Salt and pepper...a wonderful combination that would make it better. The spaghetti sauce obviously from a can. Dripping with water and no flavor. The one good thing was the shrimp, but 1 slightly decent food isn't going to be worth your time or money. It's such a shame that DeAngelo's was closed down permanently and replaced with this. It's supposed to be the same owner but somehow Bella Luna has NEVER come close to the quality or service of DeAngelo's. My go-to for delivery on DoorDash! Absolutely love their shrimp penne arrabbiata, which unlike most other places is a little bit creamy. Shrimp fettuccine Alfredo was also good. They also make a nice real Italian-style pizza. I was a fan of the truffle mushroom. The only thing I did not like that I've tried here was the fig and Gorgonzola pizza. Our first time here to celebrate a birthday was a wonderful experience! We made a reservation and were seated promptly. We had the fig and goat cheese appetizer which was amazing! The wine and beer selections are diverse. We had the chicken parmigiana, bolognese pasta and angel hair pasta with chicken and enjoyed our entrees very much. The service was amazing. We did not have to ask for anything. Not one water glass went half empty before it was filled up again. All of the staff were attentive and friendly. Such a charming restaurant in the heart of Main Street in downtown Merced within walking distance to everything. We will be back for sure! read more

We did not have any reservations but sat up at the bar top while we waited for a table and ended up staying at the bar top as it was very nice. The bartender was helpful in making recommendations and was quick to check in and make sure we were satisfied with our choices. The food menu had a lot of good selections and i had a hard time choosing what to order. Me friend and I decided to split our dishes and so I was able to try both things. Upon arriving the hostess was incredibly rude. She did not greet us, instead we had to greet her. When she found out we had a 6 month old baby in our party she made a comment about how we would need to change to a shorter table and rolled her eyes as it seemed it was quite the inconvenience. Our server was inattentive and could not be found most of the night. I ordered a cocktail and was never asked if I would like another. There was a man who kept refilling our waters who had a beard, he was amazing! Someone else had to bring us our bill as our server was nowhere to be found. The food was okay. Lacking flavor. The chicken was burnt and dry on 2 of our dishes (Capellini and Fettuccini Alfredo). We ordered a chopped salad that was basically just chopped meat. The arrinchini appetizer was the only positive out of our meal, definitely a must have. Overall, not a great experience and I wouldn't return. read more

Stopped by Bella Luna at the end of a work trip in Merced after it was recommended by a local and wow. To start; the restaurant itself is beautiful. Feels very cozy and like you're somewhere in Italy. Our server was friendly and very charismatic, which I always appreciate. He also made our drinks and my lemon drop was delicious. The food was also delicious. All of my coworkers liked what they got. If there's ine thing you HAVE to try is the artichoke focaccia. Never coming back again I have been going to Bella Luna for years before the change in ownership and always enjoyed great food. I was disappointed to come back to new ownership and terrible food. I ordered the pastrami sandwich with "chips". Expecting a beefed up sandwich, I was filled with disappointment and bread. It looked like they just gave me a piece of bread cut in half. I thought I had gone to the beach when I saw how much of a clam my sandwich looked like. The sides were also just sad. It was chips as mid as lays. I'd recommend taking my money elsewhere. read more

Our waitress Lacey, was friendly & knowledgeable about the menu & suggested an appetizer & the paloma for a cocktail, which was very refreshing. We were served fresh bread & butter with a side of olive oil & balsamic vinegar while we waited for our calamari. The calamari wasn't chewy or over cooked, it had great flavor & served with marinara sauce & lemons. The pie was a classic pepperoni & cheese with a side of caesar salad. The crust was airy & light, sauce was packed with flavor & complemented the cheese well. The salad was crisp & just the right amount of dressing.
