I didn't really know what they served until I got in, but sandwiches were not what I expected. Regardless, the restaurant is spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating. Menus are at the front where you also order before choosing a place to sit. The staff could be a little more helpful and friendly (I asked what "NET" sauce was, and they seemed annoyed with the question), but the decor is fun, and I love the natural lighting. The food was alright. The grilled chicken was dry, and so was the focaccia bread. Probably should've chosen a different bread, but it looked and sounded good. The burger was decent, but you don't need to come here for one. Honestly, the best thing was the pesto pasta salad side. It was good, and I wished there was more.

The space is thoughtfully designed, offering two distinct experiences under one roof. When you walk in, you are greeted by a bright and airy front room that feels energetic and uplifting. However, the real secret is the back room. With its deep green walls and plush leather couches, it offers a "dark, brooding" relaxation vibe that is perfect for reading, deep work, or just escaping the noise of the day. The coffee here is simply fantastic--smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed. But what sets Cafe Sparrow apart is the food. The kitchen is headed by a Michelin-starred chef, and you can taste that expertise in every bite. It elevates the standard coffee shop fare into a genuine culinary experience. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming from the moment you step through the door. Whether you want a sunny spot to start your morning or a cozy, moody corner to unwind in, Cafe Sparrow is the place to be.

There is a public parking lot just across the street (paid parking), which was very convenient and just steps from the entrance. When you walk thru the little blue door, there is a very charming wooden staircase up to the restaurant. The inside is very charming. Lots of natural wood decor and a touch on the antique side. We arrived for a late lunch and had our choose of places to sit. We chose to sit next to the bar with a beautiful view of the balcony and canton street. If the weather were nicer, that balcony would have been THE place to be. Our server was so A++. Since we were in the room by ourselves, she adjusted the music for us, which was very appreciated and personalized. We wanted a little throwback experience to traveling through France and the many little cafes that we visited. I ordered a croque madame with a side salad. My other half ordered an alsacienne flatbread. The madame was very hearty and the salad generous. It had a lovely Dijon vinaigrette, which I loved but some may find a bit sharp/spicy. The flatbread had a similar flavor to the Tarte Flambee but a different look. The dessert menu was tempting, but we didn't have any space for a sweet treat. Next time ... Would I go back - absolutely. I could also see this as a perfect place for a ladies lunch or brunch. With a little pre-planning, it could also be a really fun, upscale venue for a bridal/baby shower too. I can already imagine a glass of bubbles and being surrounded by family and friends.

Very disappointed. I liked the atmosphere and the menu, but two problems ruined the visit. First, the flies. The bakery display where the breads and pastries sit out has flies all over it -- big ones and small ones, landing on the pastries and the loaves, occasionally swatted away when staff reach in to grab something for a customer. I'd planned to buy a few items and changed my mind on the spot. It took my appetite down a notch, too. Then we were seated, and the service problems started. Twenty-five minutes passed with no one stopping by -- no order taken, no water, no server in sight. We finally flagged down a passing employee, who went off to find out who our waiter was. He came back with a name and assured us that person would be over shortly. Our actual server surfaced about thirty minutes after we sat down, apologized, and said they were shorthanded. It didn't improve from there: 20 minutes to get drinks and get the server back to place our order 45 minutes for the food to arrive 20 minutes to get the check Zero water refills the entire meal Somewhere in the middle of that, a manager came by to chat, acknowledged the slow service, and offered us something from the bakery on the house. We declined -- I couldn't get past what I'd seen at the display. We won't be back, and honestly I'm now reluctant to shop at Theo's also. If flies crawling over the food out front doesn't bother management, I don't want to think about the back.
