I had one visit with Dr. Palmer in December 2015. The visit was at 101 East Main Street in Port…read moreJervis. He noticed a cervical polyp and suggested I make an appointment with his Middletown, NY office after the holidays to get it removed. The appointment was on a Monday in January at 10:30 a.m. I got a reminder call which gave the address of his office as 111 Maltese Drive in Middletown. When I entered the building, I was advised that he is in the building at 2 Edgewater. This was annoying. I go to the 2 Edgewater office and check in an sit in the waiting room for about five minutes. I am called to the desk and told that I cannot be seen today because the instrument needed for my procedure is broken. I could not believe that they could not have called me to tell me not to come. I had someone drive over an hour to come and get me and another half hour to this office in Middletown. If the instrument was broken on Monday, it was broken on Friday and I should have been called. I made another appointment but after leaving this office I was so disgusted by the obvious lack or courtesy on the part of his office staff that I called and cancelled the appointment. Truth be told, this office seemed very run down looking and it was probably all for the best. I found a very qualified female doctor at Crystal Run Healthcare who did not use any instrument that could have ever been broken to remove my polyp. I don't know what kind of games these gals at the desk at Dr. Palmer's office run but I have moved on and wanted to give my experience so others can decide if they want to give him a try.

Love Dr. Palmer! I wish he was also an Obstetrician. He's an excellent Gynecologist. He quickly…read morecalls me back if I need to speak to him and he's very patient and kind.

Garnet Health Medical Center - My own little room in the ER.

I only recommend Garnet Health Medical Center because it's the closest hospital. Their pediatric…read moreand maternity units are great. As for the other departments, it really depends on which doctors and nurses happen to be working that day. Two months ago, my GI doctor sent me to the ER for a STAT CT scan. Even though he called ahead to let them know I was coming, I still had to wait about 3 hours to be seen. Once I was brought back, things moved quickly with a series of tests. Initially, I was placed in a large shared room with about 10 other patients, which was not going to work for me--I'm immunocompromised and very cautious about exposure. Thankfully, they were able to move me to a private room, which made a huge difference in how safe and relaxed I felt. They ran a bunch of tests, diagnosed a GI infection that had spread to my organs, they were supposed to give me IV antibiotics, but they ended up giving me them by mouth instead and monitored me for any allergic reactions before discharging me. I was very clear from the beginning that I have a complex medical history and that I know what I need. I've learned that being my own advocate is the only way to survive in today's healthcare system. The ER doctor even said, "You're really on top of things," and I reminded him, "I told you I would be." This particular visit was a somewhat positive experience--but that doesn't mean everything was ideal. The waiting room itself is honestly filthy, overcrowded, and... a bit scary.... I strongly considered waiting in my car to avoid picking up something else, but staff said I'd miss being called if I did that. It's disappointing that there aren't more accessible facilities in the area for STAT imaging like CTs or MRIs when you have a script and just need urgent outpatient care. That gap in care really needs to be addressed, but I know probably will never be.

Despite atrocious billing issues, the facility itself is great. My wife went for a same day…read moresurgery. Each and every staff member that we encountered was polite and kind, very professional and friendly. The staff were personable and helped to ease concerns or worry. From start to finish we we greeted, spoken to with respect and decency and values as a patient. Great job, Garnet!
