This is one of our favorite restaurants, but the last two times we have eaten there it has been sub par. The first was a ribeye steak, was full of fat and griddle also had no flavor, the worst steak I've since Riverside Markets closed in our area. The second was the fried green tomato salad with added chicken for protein. The chicken was over cooked and dry. The green tomatoes were hard and lacked taste. This place is wonderful. The food was a little pricey, but well worth it for the elaborate meals that were offered on the menu. I ordered the Seafood Dou. The crab cake was made with lump crab meat and the scallops were perfectly cooked. The meal was superb. Absolutely amazing! Quality and favor on every turn of the menu. There is a section of said menu that reads, "If there is a dish you desire and the ingredient are available, our chefs will glad prepare it for you". That is a mark of high standards. I have dined here a handful of times. Each time I have, the food and the atmosphere was inviting. Everything was wonderful and delicious. the restaurant my have good food-but the bar leaves lts to be desired-went there for applefest-ordered a glass of wine-the server had to go next door to the bar to get the wine-when she came back the glass had about two sips of wine in it-and was charged 6.50$ Crazy!! My wife and I visited Oil Creek state park Friday and Saturday. We ate dinner at Bella Cucina. The food was great, we shared a delicious salad (lots of fruit and nuts) and Pecan crusted chicken. Tonight a group of 20 of us that are in town for a business meeting went to Bella Cucina for dinner and it was the most amazing meal!!! Our dinner group was made up of people from 8 different states and we ALL keep repeating how wonderful the meal was. We all travel a ton and this meal took the prize! The food presentation was superb...the taste was to die for and the service was spot on! This was my first visit and if I wasn't going back to Ohio tomorrow I would be going back! My sister and I just happened upon this restaurant during the Apple Festival in Franklin today. We enjoyed our lunch so much! The butternut soup was absolutely wonderful, so rich and flavorful and the fried calamari served in a little fry basket with basil and shaved Parmesan, it was super. We also had an Apple St Germaine Spritzer that was very tasty. Definitely going back for dinner some evening, even if I have to travel from Clearfield to do it! read more

We arrived in Franklin on the night of light up night, 11/1712. We walked around town, and tried to eat dinner at another place. Bella Cucina was not opening until 5pm for dinner, which worked out perfect, as it was a little before 5pm. We went inside and was advised that they were only taking reservations. We had a party of six people. The hostess was so gracious and seated us at a bigger table that was an hour and 20 minutes out from being seated. We ordered drinks right away and some people in the party ordered the Pear-Tini which was awesome. The bread they serve with dinner is great and they give you great olive oil and garlic and shredded assiago cheese in it. Delicious. I ordered the Lobster and shrimp and it was cooked perfect. My hats off to the staff and cooks at Bella Cucina, who truly made our night special for Franklin Light up night 2012. I was recently working in Oil City, PA and one of my coworkers wanted to take me out to dinner to thank me for coming all the way up here from the D.C. area for this job. He suggested Bella Cucina and I was a little concerned since some of my other eating adventures in the area hadn't been too hot. But Bella Cucina was great. It would even receive praise down in the Washington, D.C. area. It is pricey but it is worth it. I had the Shrimp and Scallops Diablo Pasta and it was great. And I had some yummy Turtle Cheesecake for dessert. Nice find in this part of PA. read more

My husband had been raving about the good food and great staff at Bella Cucina after dining here several years ago. We happened to be in the area on a Sunday evening and decided to stop. We walked in as they were serving a huge private party. The restaurant was packed. We asked the hostess to recommend a nearby restaurant when the owner herself appeared and said that she would gladly find something for us to eat if we didn't mind sitting at the bar. As she served us delicious warm bread and a wonderful Pinot Noir, she apologized that we had to wait. We weren't expecting anything more, when she produced two amazing entrees. Everything was so delicious, we didn't leave a thing on our plates. The food here is fantastic and the staff is so friendly. The owner was so welcoming and gracious. We plan to return even though we live 300 miles away. read more

My husband and I moved to Hermitage, Pa year ago. We have frequented Bella's once a month for about six months. it takes about 40 minutes but it is a beautiful ride. We have had both lunch and dinner. last night, on the spur of the moment we drove over to experience the new menu. We were greeted the minute we entered the door. We were approached by a waitress who said that she and Mark would be taking care of us. Mark asked us if we would like a drink. We asked him to give us a minute. He immediately arrived with two crystal clear glasses of ice water. A minute later he set down a sleeve of fresh, warm bread and crackers and a generous portion of evoo shaved Parmesan and fresh herbs. We ordered our drinks and meal. Our salads were fresh and interesting and the dressing was delicious, I got blue cheese. I am not a meat eater, but when I do, I want it to be PERFECT. I got Osso Bocco and it was plentiful, fork tender and delicious. My husband is finishing it off for lunch as we speak. He always gets the filet. The new one was dressed with goat cheese and garlic with fingerling potatoes and fresh peas. It was cooked perfectly and he ate every bite. I forgot to mention that my Osso Bocco rested on a bed of delicious risotto. The ambiance of Bella's is inviting and vibrant. it's a fun place. You can tell there are dedicated locals but we always feel like this is our place. The staff works together and help eachother. We will be back soon. Overall I enjoyed the meal here, as well as the very attentive service. And yes, it is enriching a backward Central Pennsylvania town. However, $33 for an entree with 1/4 trout and 3 (somewhat aged) scallops is seriously overpricing the cultural contributions this place offers. Furthermore, the self-categorization as "Italian" is disappointing and misleading. Where do I start? Just because olive oil and tiramisu are commanded onto the menu doesn't mean proprietor or kitchen staff seem likely to find Italy on a map, given the opportunity: Bad coffee instead of decent after-meal espresso, lot's of heavy American dessert options (but no fresh fruit), following a wild semi-international theme park of pleasant-enough but overwrought food (chimichurri, ginger, sashimi, crab cakes, black bean soup, etc). But mostly, the guiding principle of good, regional, truly Italian cuisine just seems thoroughly unknown and joyfully cast aside: Start with the best possible ingredients, bring out the true flavor of good food, keep it simple, that is the Italian cuisine I remember and value. Instead they seek to overwhelm with a quantity of creative surprises, entrees featuring lists of ingredients and flavors longer than those on a box of Twinkies. Oh well. read more

place was quaint for Franklin but my entree was awful, hot sausage ravioli that were supposed to be home made! the pasta itself was as hard as a hockey puck that the Pittsburgh Penguins could have used on the ice. The dough for the ravioli was definitely over worked. When raviolis are cooked, they float to the top of the water pot and I can guarantee that these did not float anywhere except maybe at the bottom of the Allegheny river read more
