Fortunato's has potential to be a 4 star rated restaurant and they only need to fix up a few things…read moreto get there IMO. If you are looking to go on a weekend night I suggest you reserve a table as it was quite busy on Saturday around 7pm. You have the choice to sit inside or out and my party of 3 sat inside which was nice as it was lightly raining outside (can be seated undercover). The tables have white sheets of paper over the tablecloths and if you're a regular you know that you can ask for crayons for your kids to deface the paper (there were kids all throughout the restaurant so this is a very child-friendly place). Our waitress was efficient to begin with but not overly friendly and made me feel like she could be in a rush to get somewhere else, which is never a nice feeling for anyone. Our food arrived and this is where this restaurant goes off, garlic pizza to die for! It was golden, thick, crispy, loaded with garlic and cooked to perfection. Needless to say between 3 people it was gone in a flash. Next up we had 2 medium sized pizzas - Garlic Prawns (apparently it was VERY cheesy, perhaps a bit too much but was told it was still delicious), Capriciossa (holy crap this pizza was amazing, not traditional as the ingredients were heavily loaded but that's just the way I like it) and a Truffle Carbonara Fettucine pizza for my brother - looked like a big, creamy portion but that 14 year old smashed the whole bowl! I didn't quite finish my pizza but this usually means you can take some home for leftovers the next day, except I didn't, because no one ever returned to our table. We were not offered a second round of drinks, our plates were not cleared, we were not offered dessert or coffee and even though we sat chatting for 20 odd minutes we ended up having to leave the table and go to the front counter to pay for the meal. The MIA service at the end of the night really put a damper on my experience which is unfortunate as the food was truly wonderful.

We had a reservation for 7:30, arrived on time, and looked at the menu, which was extremely overpriced. After looking at the wine list, my friend went next door to buy a bottle of wine. Within 15 minutes of sitting down, we ordered as we were hungry. We got our bruschetta quickly, which was fine, but after that, we were left waiting. At 8:40, we asked the waitress about our mains, and she said there was a large table ahead of us, and we were next. By 8:45, we decided we couldn't wait any longer and told her we just wanted to pay for the bruschetta and leave. She said we couldn't do that and needed to speak to the manager. When the manager came over, she was incredibly rude. She immediately raised her voice and asked, "What's the problem here?" We explained we wanted to leave, and she said, "You can't do that, your food is about to be plated." My sister-in-law told her we didn't want to wait any longer, and the manager put her hand in my sister-in-law's face and told her to "lower her voice." I stepped in and told the manager how rude she was and that, as someone who's worked in service for years, I would never treat customers like that. She asked how I would have handled it, and I said I would have apologized and explained the delay. The manager responded by saying, "Why would I apologize? You haven't been waiting that long. You didn't order when you got here, and you even went and bought wine." I was stunned by her response. My sister-in-law then went to the register to pay, feeling pressured into doing so. We got our food in takeaway containers at 9:00 PM and left because we didn't feel comfortable staying any longer. If I were the owner, I would be mortified by how this manager spoke to customers. If this is the owner, I feel sorry for the staff who have to work under such a person. There's no defending rudeness like that - customers pay your wages, and this kind of treatment is unacceptable.

My…read moresister booked via text for her birthday dinner - a table of ten - and received confirmation from the restaurant, also via text. When we arrived, the waitress could not find our booking but the owner directed us to a table for ten. We opened our wines and ordered for the children. They got the kids' soft drink orders wrong, but we dealt with that. Fifteen minutes later, we still hadn't been asked if we wanted to order anything, when another group of ten arrived. When the owner couldn't find their table, he shouted obscenely loudly to the entire restaurant that someone had booked a table for ten but that he took no text message bookings that week, so any bookings by text would have to move. When my sister showed him the text with confirmation of her booking, which he had sent, he told us we'd have to move to the takeaway pizza area and started setting up a fold out table for us. He shouted to the whole restaurant that we had to move. The experience was surreal. He wasn't even apologetic that he had overbooked!!! He was angry when we said we'd booked and didn't think We should have to move. We still don't understand what happened. When he continued to shout at the top of his voice, we told him we'd eat somewhere else. (There was no way we'd be supporting his business which treated customers so rudely!) He then threatened to set off the 'alarm' and call the police. We had simply booked a table at a restaurant and turned up for our booking to enjoy our Italian meal. The other patrons were dumbfounded. I fail to see how this business can continue to exist. The owner/manager was absolutely psychotic. Unfortunately, rather than leaving in solidarity, the other group of ten took our table and gave him their patronage. Humans! Don't take the risk. This place does not deserve your money! (And you might be kicked out before you can even order!) GIVE IT A MISS! And read all the reviews. There are many like this. Unless you enjoy being abused or witnessing others being shouted at (customers or staff) I'd choose to eat somewhere else. If I could choose zero stars I would.
