It is also known as the Sunrise City, sister to San Francisco, California, the Sunset City. When I lived in South Florida for Forty Years I really loved to drive up the coast to Fort Pierce. I spent many days getting there early before Sunrise and swimming and surfing at the beach. I'd always pack up the truck with a cooler full of food and drinks. I've got pleasant memories of a clean place to live. I'd definitely consider living here if I intended to move back to Florida. I like the current demographics. Fort Pierce is not a party atmosphere like the South Florida Gold Coast. It was a getaway to me. I'm recommending you visit.

    This review is for the historic building known as Old Fort Pierce City Hall. It was designed in…read more1925 by architect William Hatcher in the Mediterranean Revival and Italian Renaissance styles. Hatcher also designed the historic Sunrise theater in downtown Ft. Pierce. The town hall was constructed in 1925 at the height of at the Florida land boom by builder C.E. Cahow. This building was used as the Fort Pierce City Hall until 1983 when a new larger and more modern town hall was built next to it. This building was the first one in the downtown to be restored. Work on it was completed in 1995 at a cost of $500,000. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on December 7, 2001. Today the second floor is available to be rented for private events.
