It's so hot in this store that we couldn't even find what we were looking for. There wasn't anyone in the Home department who we could ask for help, a young girl who we believe was in the Clinique makeup counter was short and rude and all of the employees that we did see looked miserable and they all have fans circulating around them. Were to old to be inside a building that's hotter inside then it is outside so we left. There was one manager who made it more pleasant for us and she listened to all of our concerns and feedback. I think her name was Linda. I would have only have scored this review with a 1 star but because of her we decided to give you a 3 star review. Get the air conditioner fixed so that me and others can attempt to shop there or we'll just go back to going to Madison. read more

Wow. Just wow. I went shopping for shoes for my mother. Not only are the self serve rows so close together you can't get down them, the Yellow Box flip flops are in the wall behind the register. Three women (workers) were standing there chatting. Not one offered or asked if I needed help. If I am going to shop local and pay Belk's prices I expect to be waited on. While visiting my sister in Decatur, AL she took me to your store 0611. I live in Houston, TX and was shopping for my grandchildren. I handed my items to the cashier and swiped my credit card. I was asked to provide my ID and the credit card I'd just used. I have no problem showing my ID and stated so to the cashier. After making the purchased I decided to continue to shop and found two other items I was interested in. This time I was the second customer in line and observed everything going on in front of me. When it was my turn another cashier rang my purchase but the first cashier was also present, she'd just helped the other customer. Once the other customer was gone I asked why wasn't she asked to provide ID and I was. Although both my purchases were made within ten minutes of each other I was asked for my ID and credit card both times. I was told with every credit card purchase ID is required, again I stated I didn't have a problem showing my ID but if that is the policy, why wasn't the other customer asked. Both cashiers were very unpleasant, neither smiled nor said thank you as we were leaving. Leaving the store, my sister decided to purchase make up as we were passing the cosmetics counter. The cashier was extremely friendly, made conversation, smiled the entire time, and told us about a sale that was approaching. My sister swiped her card, was given her purchase and receipt, and was thanked for the purchase. At that time, I told her about my experience in the clothing section. She apologized profusely and stated she hoped that would not stop us from shopping there again. My sister lives there, I only visit. On future visits, I will NOT be shopping at BELK. read more

I was just in Decatur Belk, found a Nine West hat 75% off the red price $2.94= 1 cent. The cashier would not allow me to purchase without having the manager "Linda" come to help her, once she saw .01, the total was $2.17 I ask her how did she get that from .01 cent? She replied they cannot sell items marked .01 cent, it should have been removed from the floor, needless to say I left the hat. I know someone will say why not just pay the $2.17, of course I'm going to say it's the principal and she was rude. Also told other shoppers who were anticipating getting a cart full of items that were .01 cent. read more
