Choosing a contractor is quite nerve wracking, especially in the midst of a pandemic while we're all running out of space in our homes trying to figure out how to make things work. We met with a lot of different contractors to discuss our garage-to-office conversion but ultimately chose Michael and Bela Development, not only because we saw them previously do great work on our neighbor's home, but also because Michael was from the beginning very professional and knowledgable. The quote was very competitive and, like Michael, not the "bullshit" kind. Michael is a straight forward guy who listens closely to what you want and is upright and honest about what it will take to get there. From start to finish, he was very responsive and handled any speed bump in the construction or the occasional miscommunication with the crew exactly the way you'd want to. This was a fun quick bathroom remodel project thanks to Eric and the Bela Development team. After interviewing a few contractors we have decided to go with Bela Development design and build. We wanted a firm who can take care of the architectural engineering design and the build. Construction took place in a very hectic time during the beginning of covid 19, at this time we didn't know how it would impact our project schedule. Bela did above and beyond to execute as fast as possible (wasn't easy during covid ). Tomer is one of a kind executer who will walk with you from day one to key day. This review took awhile to write since I had to take into account the whole experience and weed out what's my fault. Overall, Bela Development is an excellent firm and I would gladly do business with them again. I worked with Ben and Michael. First off, Michael, who is the manager assigned to my project, is a top notch person. He was very sincere, professional yet easy to work with throughout the entire process. This was my first major remodel and my resources were limited. I had to do as much homework as I could. Michael would explain stages of the remodel and always asked if I was happy with the results as it progressed. My main learning experience from this remodel is that communication is key. Michael constantly communicated any issues or updates. He made it easier, but I should have relayed my opinions and thoughts more often, which is on me. At the end of the remodel, Michael and Ben made sure I was happy and satisfied with the finished project. Then they followed up months later to check in on me and fixed any small details. He was mostly on site every day and made sure that any problems were quickly corrected. Even when there were a few issues, he "always" took care of them expediently and effortlessly. If there was an award for patience and stresslessness, the award should be given to Yossi. Most importantly, his word was golden. Bela came very highly recommended by one of our good friends so we used them to do a bit of work to our new house. They installed 4 skylights, replaced and installed all of our recessed lighting, knocked down a wall, and expanded our fireplace in a matter of 4 weeks. We were out of town most of the time that the work was being done but they were extremely communicative the whole way through and we felt very comfortable having their team there even while we were out of town. Itamar and ben did a great job. We had a leak under our sink and the floor and the cabinets where all damaged and moldy. On top of it it was Christmas and we had an inspector coming to view our property in 7 calendar days. They worked nonstop to get everything finished on time. Worked around are nanny and are children. Worked night and day - kept the work site clean at all times. Found the cabinets - found the floors - super lovely people to be around - smart - engaging and all around very professional. Bela did a great job on our bathroom remodel. They were extremely well-organized, ordering the next inspection as soon as the prior one was finished so that there would be no delay waiting to schedule. I have undergone many remodels and construction projects including other bathrooms and this is the first time a company has worked straight through without work pauses. The bathroom was a complete redo and was finished in a month and a half. The work quality is also excellent, as far as I can tell so far (it certainly looks perfect). I also liked that in addition to our main job supervisor (David), other supervisors came in to quality check. The team's responsiveness was also excellent. We bought our house inheriting city code violations on the exterior, not realizing what an ordeal it would be. There were structural issues which were compounded by being located in the Hollywood Hills. We used a structural engineering company that was basically grandfathered by the previous owners, a company we wouldn't recommend. But we most definitely recommend Bela Development who came to our rescue when finishing the project and took over where the engineers left off. They did a ton of work to get us up to code and create our dream home - finishing outdoor stairs/railings, a floating deck, installing a wood ceiling, electrical, repainting the entire house, exterior hardscaping (tiles, pavers, etc.), renovations on an office, installing a hanging chair, building and installing a hot tub... The list goes on. Yossi was our point person and Enrique was our foreman and both were fantastic - they listened and explained every step of the process.
