I tried out several different CrossFit gyms before locking down CFDC and it was the best decision I've ever made. All the coaches emphasize form and take you through progressions of lifts EVERY DAY! I have seen so many places not warm up Olympic lifts and I think that is dangerous. Each coach has their own spin and personality but all are amazing. This is not your average gym. They don't want to be just an average gym. If you've heard about Crossfit, you know. It's a place to get into peek fitness. Not just beach body firm, I mean bad ass, nothing can stop you, you can do anything kind of fitness. First off, it's raw; don't look for AC or towels, or a sauna, or well, even treadmills. The only energy you're going to expend here is your own. You will sweat, you will gasp for breath and you will probably cry and most certainly curse like you've never cursed before. But in the end, if you keep it going, you will be fit. Firefighter, Navy Seal, Marine FIT! Now having said all this, I crapped out after three visits. It's not my thing, I'm a yoga girl. However, my husband is a regular and he's morphed into the hottest, hardest, fittest man I know - okay maybe the leaders, Spence and Sam have him beat. If you want to be at the pinnacle of fitness, give it a try. It's addicting, as I've watched my husband forgo his buddies for a night at the gym. It's a community of very supportive people who have overcome amazing obstacles. And it's also a group of great people who live everyday lives in a healthy way. Saturdays are free, so check it out. I'm an affiliate owner and long time CrossFittter and DCC is one of my favorite boxes. If you are visiting Dallas and close - it is a must. If you are visiting Dallas and not close - I'd still try and make it. If you live close you need to try and workout today. Some reason why: - Ownership: It starts and the top and Dean and Spencer are great. They had been in the game a long time and have their gyms for all the right reasons. - Facilities: Giant main floor, larger, separate private training room (with AC!), showers, staffed physical therapy room on site and a cryo therapy room! I alway like to take class when I am dropping in but you can do your own programming in the private room if you want. - Programming: Some of the best I've seen. Very well thought out and creative - not just the same stuff day after day. It's fun and all done for a purpose. I have taken a lot of it back to my own gym. - Coaches: all the coaches are great - helpful for experienced and new athletes. - Community: everyone is super friendly - classic CrossFit community. read more

Dropped in for a visit and the people could not have been any nicer! I felt so welcomed and walking into a new, even for a visit, can feel a little overwhelming and scary. But the members made me feel like I had been coming for months and was one of their own! The coaches were great and knowledgeable! Great trainers, challenging WODs, 4 locations in Dallas, classes from 530 am - 730 pm, super friendly community. Moved to Dallas from CLE in Summer 2015 and started at CFDC as it's closest to where I live. Generally go to the Fondren location but have also been to Vickery, which is awesome as well. I signed up for a month and within 2 weeks extended it to an annual membership. 8 months later I have no regrets. It's been a challenging and fun ride, I have gotten better at things which I never thought I could do before - HSPU, Kipping. read more

Crossfit Central is the place to get in the best shape of your life. To say these folks got me in better shape might be the understatement of the century. I know there are many Crossfit gyms in the DFW area, but Central just has a great variety of class times, informed and approachable instructors, and a great location (just off 75) Like most good things, crossfit will cost you. At around 175 per month, its worth it if you are motivated enough to come 5 days a week. After too much long distance biking, I had a lower back pain which is vanished after my crossfit training. read more

They know when to push you to work harder and when to be supportive. Beyond that, the community is great! Everyone is very friendly and welcoming regardless of your age or experience. My husband and I have been member of a box in Plano for a while. We recently bought a home in University Park and have been looking for a new box to attend. My husband reached out to Stephen to inquire about pricing and membership options and he quoted us a price that was significantly higher than what we pay currently. My husband simply asked him what was included in that price (to get a feel for what might differentiated them) and he says "if cost is your issue, this isn't the place for you." Excuse me? That alone would give one pause. But then rushed him off the phone following that and said he would call him back. Never returned the phone call. Not sure why anyone would pay $200 a month for a service that can't even justify its cost and then have the nerve to insult you upon inquiring. No thanks. read more

CFDC is such an amazing gym. The coaches are super attentive, and the community support is beyond anything I've experienced. Class times are flexible, instruction is very specific and helpful to each individual, and the programming is amazing. Crossfit it scalable. It's for anyone and everyone. I never feel as if I'm putting myself in a situation where I might get hurt or injured, and I always leave the gym feeling like I've had an awesome workout. I love this place. Two months and I am officially converted. Crossfit is not for the weak of heart, but if you're willing to work, you won't get better results. I came in pretty fit- I have always been a weightlifter and runner, but I had no idea how much harder I could be working. That first class taught me a LOT about myself, mainly that I could come close to throwing up and passing out, and that I'd actually be okay. :) Crossfit is a mixture of cardio and Olympic weightlifting. You'll do chinups, kettle bell swings, box jumps, sprints, sit ups and all kinds of full-body movements. Including burpees. Lots of them. Don't know what a burpee is? Check out the free Saturday morning 9:30 class. Are you ever in for a treat. ;) I've seen better results in the past two months (4-5 classes per week with running days mixed in) than I have spending similar time at the gym for the past few years. It's kind of incredible. However, if your idea of working hard includes talking on the phone while walking on the treadmill, or reading your kindle while curling weights, this probably isn't for you. I have been a member at Equinox for awhile, and this is pretty much the opposite. Down and dirty and tough. But if you want to work, you won't find better coaches, workouts or classmates. Everyone is super supportive, no matter your level. I get why people call Crossfit a cult. It isn't (duh), but it the progress you'll make combined with the cool people makes it addicting. I had never done crossfit or any serious weight training prior to trying out CFDC. I was very pleased with the quality of instructions. Although all crossfit seems to have a cult like following, this gym seems to keep the douche factor low, which I appreciate it. I highly recommend this gym of you are a beginner. There are certainly many high level athletes here as well. Perhaps someday I'll be proficient enough to comment on the quality of instruction if you are a serious crossfit enthusiast. read more

I recommend CFDC to everyone. The coaches here are fantastic - very knowledgable and helpful. I need a lot of modifications to be able to do the WODs and they are always coming up with ways to make sure I get a great workout even with my limitations. The coaches are the reason that this location is welcoming for everyone of all shapes, sizes and abilities. Even if the ripped/fit people running around outside look nothing like you, don't be scared. This gym is still for you. They are very focused on the basic building blocks and proper form in the Elements class, which is great for someone like me. I've tried other gyms, and realized that this is the only place where I am given the tools I need to succeed and better myself. I just need to use them. read more

This is an awesome gym! We flew in yesterday from Seattle for the 2013 American Open and needed a place to train. This gym opened their doors to competitors for free. Pretty awesome. The gym itself is huge and very well equipped. The staff was super friendly. Best of all, I had been having a problem with my elbow for weeks and was worried about it affecting my performance at the competition. One of the trainers, who is also a chiropractor, pushed the nerve back into place (again, for free) and I am now completely pain-free. He fixed it instantly. I couldn't be more grateful. read more

This place creates by far the most addicting workout I have ever experienced. I decided to try crossfit after a very on again, off again type relationship with my school gym. I figured I could try it out and see how it went, because I had heard good things in the past. After a great free trial class, I decided to sign up for a one month membership. The membership can be a little pricey, especially since going to the gym at school is free, but it motivated me to actually go since I put all the money down up front. So far I have only done their beginner-type classed, the "fitness elements." After a month or so in elements you can move up to their more advanced class, but I have been content in the elements class. They offer this class four times every week day and once on Saturdays. The workout is posted online before the class, so you can check it out and mentally prepare yourself. During the class we warm up with various stretches or exercises that correspond with the workout. When I first came to Dallas Central I had no idea what a dumbell snach or a power clean was. They don't overwhelm you with information - as each thing comes up in the workout its explained to you and eventually you learn all the different exercises for the workouts. Every day is a completely different workout, so you never get bored. You can feel yourself getting stronger every class and its amazing how much more you can do after a month compared to when you started. The motivation is great too - everyone is pushing you to do your best and go one more rep, not putting you down or yelling at you if you can't. This was my problem with boot camp style classes - I don't take well to being put down. In the morning you wake up wanting to go to the crossfit class because regardless of how tough the workout is its fun and everyone in the class is in it together. I'm so glad I started working out here, it's definitely been a much more satisfying experience than just putting more miles on the treadmill. read more

The trial class at CF Dallas was absolutely fantastic. Brian, Dean and Alex are very amiable and welcoming. I was intimidated in going to a class, but luckily I went with friends to help ease the anxious experience. Everyone appears to be fitness junkies at cross fit gyms. Upon entering, Alex greeted us creating an initial friendly environment. Then the ice was broken with Dean via the class introduction filled with light humor. Laughing makes for a better environment. It was like group therapy and everyone wanted each other to have a pleasant time. Brian's demonstrations of the moves provided model form. He makes everything look too easy! The class was at beginner pace which is nice since half the class is first timers to cross fit. Dean gave real world examples of relating the moves to everyday activity. Now I have to reason with myself in investing $$$ to join. It ain't cheap for good friends! read more
