Wonderful experience! I was in town for business and decided to drop in at tigers den to get my WOD on! The coaches were super warm and welcoming, the athletes were so encouraging, and the drop in experience was top notch! Parking was no sweat either, lots of spots available right up front. Good solid programming with strength and cardio metcons, as well as some skill work up front. Great warm up by all the coaches, even had time to smash and roll out a little after class. This is a LARGE facility with plenty of space and multiple rigs. I also got to try out their brand new concept 2 bike ergs for one of the workouts. Signing up ahead of time was easy on their website, paid and signed the waiver before showing up. I highly recommend checking out this box if you're local or just traveling through and want to get a good sweat going! read more

If you're in the Dallas area, I highly recommend dropping in here! The members and coaches were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. 99% of the time I do CrossFit but I just happened to be a week out from my 1st weightlifting meet when I was in town. They had an amazing oly area! Little do they know, everything they had helped immensely. It was my first time in the 12 weeks I'd been training that I had access to kilo plates. On top of that, when I got back home and competed the following weekend, my confidence was through the roof and I ended up placing first in my meet. I travel for work so I drop in at different boxes a lot. This was by far my favorite drop in so far. The box was huge, clean and organized in a way that allowed for several areas to run at once. But the best thing is how nice everyone is; owner, trainers and athletes. All very supportive...hugely important when you are working your a** off with total strangers. I did my New You 6wk Challenge at Tigers Den Crossfit during the months of May and June. I couldn't have asked for a better establishment. Huge facility, variety of equipment, showers, plenty of workout space even with a full class of people. The coaches I had were fantastic! Brian, Derek, and Holly, they made sure I never gave up and encouraged me when I needed it. I really liked the fact that they worked with me individually when I needed guidance, not only on my technique but also when it came to my diet. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly that one looks forward to coming to workout and make friends doing so. The encouragement from everyone and loud music just fuels you.....come and experience it. With the help of an awesome crew and fellow crossfiters, I managed to lose 39 pounds in six weeks. Mind you, 26 were in the first two weeks. I gained inches and lost inches in the right places. I dropped in at Tigers Den twice the last time I was in Dallas. The coaches were super nice and the programming was great in the two days I was there. They even cut me a break on the drop in fee since i was there for two days (I've been to other Dallas boxes and this is not common). The facility is huge and very nice too. Yes, you will get your a$$ kicked Crossfit style at this gym. Yes, you will hate and love it at the same time. Both these things you could say about most Crossfit gyms in the area. So what made me select Tiger's Den over other area gyms? 1. Location. Work in the hospital district, live or work in North Oak Cliff or the Design District- its conveniently located with ample parking. 2. Comfort. I don't own 4 billion pieces of Lululemon, I'm not a former athlete nor have I ever been a fitness buff- but I continue to feel like I fit in with this gym. 3. Focus on form. When researching Crossfit, the main critiques of the workout were about injury by performing the various movements incorrectly. Tiger's Den goes out of its way to focus on form through intro classes and personalized interactions during workouts. While this isn't a reason to check it out, it's fun that you can walk in for a Crossfit class and see dudes sword fighting in the corner of the gym. read more

All of the coaches are amazing. All of them. They are all super nice and welcoming, providing individualized feedback to all the folks in the class, no matter how many are there. The WODs are scheduled perfectly, with heavier and lighter days organized for optimum recovery. The space is huge, accommodating multiple classes at once. AND the community is AWESOME. read more

Started at Tigers Den in October and its been the best CF experience I've had. The owner/trainer JD is really great. He really knows how to make each individual feel like they are part of the family there and work on individuals goals for themselves. My wife and I were in town for business from the Rochester, NY area, but didn't want to miss out on a week of crossfit. We looked around and decided that the Tiger's Den looked like a good fit for us. We went in on a Sunday, met with JD and he welcomed us with open arms. He was down to earth and explained how they run their classes and welcomed us to come as much as we liked that week. We came for our first class on Monday. Some people may think crossfit is crossfit no matter where you go. It is totally the opposite. At Tiger's Den all the members were extremely nice and welcoming; it felt like we were at our home box. The workouts are very thorough making full use of the class time, and they have a full warm up and cool down that is exceptional; which is something that we have found some other boxes to lack. The facility is very nice, clean and there is plenty of room to move which wonderful coming from a smaller facility. They utilize the outdoors and their surroundings incorporating them into the workouts which is something we don't get to experience too much in Western New York. They have plenty of equipment and a large variety allowing for the workouts to vary and not become redundant. What can I say; we would rather work out with these wonderful people verses sight see in a state that we have never been to :-) Overall, if we were to live in the area, this would be our box of choice. The atmosphere, the people and the workouts are outstanding and their workouts are cutting edge. They encourage everyone to meet their best potential and cheer you on to push yourself further than you thought you could go. As a former CrossFit Coach in NYC, I can be overly judgmental about the boxes I visit when traveling. I went to Tigers Den at the recommendation of a coworker and it was the best decision I made while in Dallas. The facility is HUGE with all the space/equipment one could desire at a box, as well as a basketball hoop and...jousting gear?! JD coached my class and did a phenomenal job. He took us through a comprehensive warm up and made sure all the members were comfortable with their movements, scaled or RX. The only thing more electric than his coaching presence was his tights. When you stop by, make sure to say hello to Tonka, the WuTang listening, wild hog wrangling, super dog! This place is definitely my go to box when visiting Dallas. read more

I live in San Diego and dropped into this box because I was on a business trip. I was greeted immediately with a friendly smile and handshake. They had a sufficient warm-up, strength time, and metcon that made me sweat. The instructor seemed very knowledgeable and conveyed instruction in a positive way. I went to a different CrossFit box the day before and was disappointed. There was a lack of structure. And the instructor was a bit of a control freak. Tiger's Den was structured and pleasant. I felt like I was being welcomed into someone's home. In addition, they were very willing to work with me when I had a different programming to follow. read more

Hands down, probably one of the best boxes in Dallas ! I'm from l.a and I come to Dallas frequently due to work. Whenever I have time I will squeeze in for a good workout. The coach & owner JD is phenomenal. He will provide great instructions on how to perform and work on mobility. Even to drop in guests which is shocking as other boxes I've visited never do that to me. I've been coming to TD cf for about 2 years as a drop in and it's totally worth it. I was searching for a CF to drop in during a business trip and picked TDCF because of they cool name. I'm glad I did but it was a great workout experience. JD bounded over as soon as we arrived to welcome us and introduce himself. He couldn't have been nicer. Derek ran a great community WOD. The members were cool and welcoming as well. I am new to Dallas and was looking to see if I can join a place of fitness. I went online to see their website and check prices. Since I didn't see anything online I decided to call the number on their website and ask. The lady on the phone said she couldn't get any prices for me. I asked if she can tell me if I can find the membership prices online. She was so rude. She said she doesn't have any information and hung up the phone on me. Bottom Line: this is a top-notch CrossFit box. They have a huge space. They have an fantastic olympic lifting area with all the equipment you might need. They have a sword fighting area for sword fighting (not even kidding). They have dogs running around doing awesome dog stuff. The class I attended had all levels of CrossFitters and was really fun, but if you are a competitive athlete searching for a new box, or looking to drop in from out of town you should check this place out. read more

I started Cross Fit Tiger's Den back in January and saw incredible results. With in a month I dropped a whole pant size. The trainers at CFTD are amazing and genuinely do what they do to help people. After one of my classes JD, the owner, sat with me for almost an hour talking about nutrition and even reassuring me that he would take me grocery shopping. He continually checks up on me (I had to take a hiatus due to moving and school and studying abroad) but I sure as hell will be there in August when I get back to Dallas! Great box! JD and his crew are awesome. As an out of town visitor, it was really cool that they don't charge a drop-in fee. It's a spacious box and they have great coaches. And oh, they have huge ceiling fans to keep the box cool! Make sure you buy a shirt. The logos are cool and it's the least you can do since they don't charge visitors. read more

I joined yelp to write this review, because I want everyone to know how awesome this box is. I'm currently sitting in my hotel room (still sweaty from the WOD) writing this, because I want it to be the most authentic thing possible. I posted on the Tiger's Den FB page a few days ago, and Tiger's Den was quick to respond and welcome me to their classes. I showed up and JD immediately introduced himself and we chatted, signed waivers, ect. There's a certain energy about this place that I'm already in love with - I wish I was in town for a week instead of just the weekend so I could come back a few more times! The WOD was great, the people are friendly, and everyone is so down to earth and welcoming. I made some heinous jokes and people still thought they were mildly entertaining. After the WOD I wanted to throw some cash at Tiger's Den and support what they have going on. JD hooked me up with a sweet hoodie and more information about the box. Other members had questions/concerns and he was quick to answer them and provide helpful feedback both during and after the WOD. The next time I'm back in Dallas I'll be hitting up Tiger's Den again. They know that Crossfit and fitness are about more than just the weight, it's about being your best self all around, and I love that. Thanks again, you guys are amazing!!! read more

JD and his coaching team are awesome! One of my favorite things I ever did as an athlete (which I hate saying because I'm by no means super athletic) at Tiger's Den was a run we did from the box to a few blocks behind and up the levee of the Trinity (which was kind of muddy on the ascend and amazing). When we got to the top, standing there on top of the levy and seeing the vast grassland below was one of the coolest things ever. While being an athlete at Tiger's Den, never once did I feel like I was looked down upon, there was always someone to push you to your best (even though it is, at its core, a competitive challenge), and sometimes in the WOD group if one person was struggling, the rest of the group would rally and cheer them on to finish. It was a great feeling. There's no high pressure sales tactic to join, JD and team let you try a few days out, see how you like it, make sure you want to commit, and if not, no worries. Of all the XFit boxes in Dallas, this one is the most down to earth, unpretentious, and supportive in terms of the experience of being a member. The coaches and athletes are like a big family and early on it is hard to tell sometimes who is an athlete member and who is on the coaching team. I had to quit going due to an unrelated health issue, and upon quitting, my card was NOT charged anymore which is more than can be said for chain gyms... Maybe because Tiger's Den isn't a gym, but something far greater: a place where everyday individuals go to build strength and improve their health through athletic activities and friendly competition. Maybe that's why Xfit facilities are called "boxes" and not "gyms"... Gyms are sketch, but a XFit box rocks! read more

I had the pleasure of being in Dallas for two weeks while on tour with a show. The entire crew over at Tiger's Den coached and introduced a group of us "NOOBS" from the show, and turned us all in CrossFit junkies. The facility is fully equipped and the equipment top of the line. Be warned, this is NOT a Planet Fitness, this is much better. There was nothing easy about what the coaches put us through, yet they took their time with us rookies and educated us, so that we could continue on our own in the future. I don't normally write reviews, but this is a really good box. Scratch that; a great box. I appreciate how much emphasis is placed on technique here. Your skillset against Olympic lifts is constantly reassessed and a lot of time is spent in those aspects of the lifts that you are weakest in. In the power clean, my first pull is my weakest link and the coach not only allowed me to, but encouraged me to focus the majority of my time on working at this even though I was fairly proficient in the remainder of the lift. I also noticed the focus that is placed on true mobility work, not just for the sake of simply warming up, but purposeful and methodical. The WOD programming itself is challenging, but they never lose sight of one of the key tenants of Crossfit, "scalability". The coaches don't harass you about putting on more weight for more weight sake, but they do challenge you to find an appropriate weight for what you are supposed to achieve through the WOD. Each of the workouts I was able to participate in no matter how simplistic looking left me done. The coaches themselves are extremely approachable and very knowledgeable across the Crossfit fitness spectrum. The facility is fairly large and very well equipped. In addition to the normal equipment (weights, racks, rowers, and ropes), they have some less common items such as roughly half a basketball court inside the facility. Another thing that struck me, was the camaraderie shared among the athletes seemed stronger than some other boxes I've visited but more open. They immediately pulled me in even though I was there only for a short time. Very, very friendly to this out-of-towner. Final points: If you have nothing to prove, but everything to gain this is the box for you. I'm really looking forward to my next trip to Dallas to get some more time in with these guys. Finally, if I lived in Dallas, this would be the box I would join. read more
