I thought that was a great price and it included ballet and tap. We had not been able to find tap shoes in time so on the first day the teacher was kind enough to let my daughter borrow a pair for the duration of the session. Ms. Irina the dance instructor is great! She's kind, fair with the kids and my daughter has been able to show others what she has learned in dance class. I'm really glad I found Karen Sachs! And I'm excited about signing my daughter up for the next session.

Today I took my gentle yoga class with Jayne, one of the owners of Yoga on York. Jayne is an…read moreexcellent teacher and very detailed with her instruction. I know what an excellent teacher is because I am a RYT-200 teacher of yoga, and taught for 12 years until I could no longer teach due to physical issues not related to yoga. The practice room is small, very clean (no dust balls) and quite nice. You enter from the door on York Road and there is a tiny registration area where you leave your shoes. The owners cleverly divided the studio from the commercial area with a set of sliding frosted glass doors to provide filtered light and privacy. Jayne locks the door about five minutes after the class starts to provide security - and peace to the yogis and yoginis in the studio. There is space for 12 to 16 students to practice comfortably. In the back of the studio behind a half-wall are two separate dressing rooms with lots of clothes hooks, a cabinet with props and a large bottle of hand cleanser (nice idea). Behind this area is a massage room and a little further back is a very clean, well-stocked restroom. There are some nice photographs and artwork on display giving the room a very warm feeling. So now that I've described the environment, what is it about the class that makes this a five star production. There are many teachers, with many styles, but Jayne is a spiritual yoga dance instructor. She has many years of dance and yoga experience and has her own dance company. She is also a creator of aerial yoga and has written a book about this lighter than air yoga called "Aerial Dance." WBALTV recently featured this on one of their shows at: http://www.wbaltv.com/news/health/Sarah-tries-aerial-yoga/-/9379230/12559522/-/784eag/-/index.html She has a unique understanding of how the body moves in space and how the postures can be done with safety from her many years of dancing and yoga. The class always moves nicely and there are postures that focus on the tightest spaces in the body ( the lower lumbar and those terrible tight hamstrings). Students never have to worry about how they look or what level they are when they take this gentle yoga class. It's a choreographed 60-minute class that works for all. She provides breath work (pranayama), an intention for the class, postures that everyone can do (asanas) and a rest period (Savasana -corpse pose). The price is right and it is so worth the effort to attend. This class is authentic yoga, and provides the total package for anyone who wants to learn about how the mind/body connection works to reduce stress in a safe environment.

You will not find a better dance studio ANYWHERE! In fact, this Arthur Murray studio is the #1 in…read morethe whole country. And it is easy to see why!!! No matter what your level of experience the teachers at the Columbia Dance Center will work to your level, one on one, and bring out the inner dancer in you. The entire staff is highly experienced, dedicated and passionate about dance. Every person who walks through the door is valued, respected and seen. I have decades of dance classes behind me and I have never loved dance so much as since I found this studio. They don't teach only to the best students and leave the rest in the dust, as has been my experience in other studios. They support, respect and uplift every single dancer. The curriculum they teach is consistent among all the instructors and is very thorough. My primary instructor is Ellias and he's a Jedi Master, I swear. I learn soooo much every lesson and have a blast doing it. You have the opportunity to work with all of the instructors and practice with them. They are all so generous with their knowledge. Kindness is the culture. No snobby attitude here! People of every age, background, ability, physicality, all levels, get 100%, no dancer left behind. It is so inspiring to watch some of the people who have worked to become Incredible, competitive dancers and know they started out just like you or I did. I don't aspire to compete, just to enjoy some hot Latin social dancing, but it is fun to watch Dancing with the Stars in real life.. I am happily hooked and am here for group classes and group practice parties in addition to my private lessons many times a week. That's where you get to meet the whole community of dancers like you to practice and friendships are made. I cannot say enough good things about my experience at this Arthur Murray in Columbia. Come on and give yourself the gift of joyful movement, you will never regret it.

That nervousness disappeared instantly thanks to the warm welcome I received at the front desk. As someone who's a bit older, I wondered if I'd feel out of place--but age has never been a factor here. The environment is inclusive, supportive, and empowering. I've taken classes with every instructor, and not once have I had a bad experience. Each one brings their own unique energy, style, and creativity to class. The choreography is consistently fun and challenging, and the music always hits. No two classes are the same, which keeps things exciting and fresh. Every time I leave class, I feel stronger, more confident, and completely empowered. I'm not the same person I was when I first walked in over two years ago. I'm completely obsessed with pole now, and I owe it all to Xpose for helping me discover that passion--and for giving me the space to grow into the person I am today.
