So I went in not knowing anything prior about the musical. I've never seen the film before either as I think it's way before my time. However, I heard it was a Tim Burton creation , so it must be epic and also weird. I think the musical falls under weird. I liked the stage decor and theatrical display of everything , which was very creative! However, the humor isn't so much my kind of humor (a lot of dirty, kinda sexist jokes). But that is exactly the titular role's personality. The musical did a good job making him scary looking. Anyways, although this musicals' storyline also revolves around an adolescent's life, I don't think the musical is suitable for kids. In terms of seating, I was seated almost in the last row of orchestra (Row Y) . (FYI , I did win the lottery after being on standby) . Don't think it's the best seats in the house but definitely far from worse. By the way, i was sitting on velvet chairs, so I believe those are just placed there to serve as extra seating .

I an obsessed with this adaptation of Beetlejuice. It's hysterical, but still manages to be emotional and heartwarming. The songs were catchy, and enjoyable. Alex Brightman as Beetlejuice is just amazing. His high energy performance kept me engaged from start to finish. Keep in mind, this is not super kid friendly. There's a lot of inappropriate jokes, that maybe young kids won't get, but just keep that in mind when you're taking little ones. I went in expecting a good show, but left already looking forward to an excuse to go back and see it again!

I cannot believe this show will be closed in January! I enjoyed every second of it. The jokes were tied to modern times, which is so intelligent! This show is not for kids; you hear many curse words and adult jokes. Don't be afraid to express yourself and wear a costume to the show; there was a lot of Beetlejuice in the audience!

Better than the movie, in my opinion. My favorite parts of the show are Day-O and Jump in the Line. Beetle juice makes death funny and lively, if that is possible. Excellent singing and theatrics.

For my 500th Yelp review -- Beetlejuice will do! Dead is as dead does -- and this incarnation of Tim Burton's classic will leave you thoroughly alive on arrival! A wonderful romp! Replete with inventive staging and sets, Irreverent dialogue, cool music and outstanding ensemble vocals -- you will LOL - spontaneously clap -- and hoot and holler until you're hoarse. Don't miss this show. The Beetlejuice understudy starred in this midweek performance (Will Blum) and he was outstanding. Kudos Will Blum! Once again TDF hit it out of the park - with center orchestra seats about 10 rows back. I would say perfect - if not for the corpulent human with an impossibly enormous Hagrid sized head seated directly in front of me. Worse still, this fellow kept bobbing his noggin side to side throughout the performance -- annoyingly obscuring the view from my otherwise outstanding seats. Oh well. I practiced my sideways glance and patience. Still working on my chi folks. :)) Top Top: I think this show is best viewed from the front row of the center mezzanine - where you get a better view of the spectacular sets -- and awesome light show. The house acoustics are great no matter where you sit.

The play was musical colorful creative but incredibly loud and unfortunately a lot of incredibly loud screaming people in the audience. $18 for a Coke and a candy bar because I actually was falling asleep during the first half. the guy next to me was so obnoxious and every 40 seconds had some dorky dopey loud laugh that sounded so fake and it made the play incredibly painful to watch and definitely not worth $159.00 The seats were great but it was all way too much.

TL;DR--Aside from sharing many of the same plot points, characters, and one-line zingers, the Winter Garden's current production and Tim Burton's 1988 film appear to have little in common: the musical has been stripped of any foreboding overtones and given the same Halloween theme-park treatment that The Addams Family stage adaptation was given. The songs are catchy and the show's visual elements are eye-popping, but after 2.5 hours the whole affairs feels like an enjoyable but forgettable piece of escapist entertainment. As one may expect, Broadway Beetlejuice is equal parts zebra stripes and Tony-nominated razzmatazz--featuring a set list of songs about familiar themes such as teenage angst, life unfulfilled, misplaced ambitions, and familial dysfunction. (Ironically, the show isn't really about death at all and treats mortality as another plot device.) Be sure to look out for your favorite tropes as well: A trapdoor. A harness. Stunt doubles. A sweet couple who act as parental surrogates to a lonely and misunderstood teenage heroine. An overabundance of jokes that break the fourth wall. Jill Abramovitz playing various grandmotherly characters. A tap number after the intermission to keep the audience awake? Check. Followed by a ballad that maybe puts that same audience to sleep? Check. While the show is tonally inconsistent and never manages to measure up in the storytelling department, it's still full of surprises big and small--particularly the various puppets designed by Michael Curry (many based on those in the film) and scenic design of the Netherworld, to name a few. Spoiler: there's a confetti cannon. Individual performances are also noteworthy: Alex Brightman and Leslie Kritzer defty showcase a wide range of character voices and vocal styles, often within the same breath. Sophia Ann Caruso's preternatural powerhouse vocals are explosive as they are controlled. Dana Steingold's solo about girl scout cookies is the only thing that kept me awake during the second act. Also, I just love Kerry Butler. I found the Winter Garden's box office staff and ushers to be friendlier and more capable than those at some other Broadway theaters. This being said, this show is far from child-friendly: if the movie was any indication, most of the humor, vocabulary, and subject matter in this musical adaptation would probably be too inappropriate or obscure for anyone not old enough to know what the electoral college is. As other reviewers have noted, many of the partial-view seats in even-numbered orchestra will miss out on some of the action happening stage left, though the seats themselves have generous width and pitch. Booster seats are available for those seated in the very first row (or for your small chlidren, if you were reckless enough to bring them). As expected, some of the souvenir merchandise costs more than what you probably paid for your seat (e.g. $80 for a hoodie). But if you're like me, you'll probably spend all of intermission waiting in the line that snakes up or down the stairs to the restrooms, wondering what possessed the architects of the building to put restrooms in the basement.

We didn't know what to expect. Friends told us that it was a fast paced, electrifying musical. They were correct! Our tickets were stage left, orchestra. We could see & hear everything well. The first song was about death - irreverent & hysterical. The first appearance of the title character was rapid fire dialogue & pitch perfect vocalization. We were hooked! The pace never waned and the story got better & better. It's been a long time since we saw the movie. It seems as if the plot and story mirrored the film well, with alterations that only improved it. All of the characters were sensational with perfect timing and vocalizing. The sets were colorful, fun, & moved seamlessly about the stage in perfect rhythms. The audience was as wrapped up in the action as we were. By the time the actors took their curtain calls, all of us were on our feet cheering and applauding. It was THAT good! We would see it again. And again!

- CAPTIVATING. ELECTRIFYING. HILARIOUS. - Dear Evan Hansen emotion meets Frozen/Aladdin magic meets Book of Mormon humor - This is truly a show - First act = 1hour, 20min intermission, Second act = 1hour - Apparently it deviates from the movie (I haven't seen it) but I loved the storyline nonetheless - Beetlejuice was of course the highlight of the show - Constant laughter from the audience - Would not recommend for younger kids since there are some 'scarier' scenes (amputation) and quite a bit of swearing - Their run at the Winter Garden ends June 6, 2020 so get tickets while you can! Hopefully they can move to another theater.

BeetleJuice is one of those eventful broadway musical that you'll never forget. You'll find yourself laughing from the beginning of the show to the very end and still want to more. For starters, BeetleJuice is full of energy, wicked and he literally engages with the audience throughout the entire show. With that said if you are sitting in the front, be alert and get ready to be part of the the play. It'll be great so come with a sense of humor. BeetleJuice the musical's theme is far from the movie theme. Keep that in mind prior to booking tickets to see the show. Overall if you are one of those who is open to creativeness then what you are waiting for definitely book tickets right now. Honestly don't worry about where you are sitting in the auditorium, you'll absolutely have an awesome view of the stage. Overall, BeetleJuice is beyond amazing and will totally rock your world. I feel as though you must be a BeetleJuice fan to fully appreciate the show.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! I nearly passed out when I heard Beetlejuice was coming to Broadway. This was one of my favorite movies ever! And the play was so much fun. It was so funny and deserved the standing ovation it recieved. I would have liked to see Beetlejuice in more makeup as he barely had any on but he embodied the character brilliantly. The music, costumes, stage set, & cast were magnificent. It's a definite must see. It is a bit vulgar but it's suitable for teen children. It was definitely worth the money... Get tickets and enjoy!

Yesenia R.

When I found out Beetlejuice was coming to Broadway I knew I had to go see it and I was not disappointed. This play was funny and entertaining. Beetlejuice was funny throughout the entire show. Making subtle references to current events made it even better. This show is not for the people who are very sensitive because they do curse and make sexual references ( wouldn't recommend it for kids). Lydia was amazing. Her vocals. Her acting. She is very talented. The entire cast was amazing and talented. Definitely worth the money!

Is it appropriate to watch for a 10 year old? Will they enjoy it? Thank you!

That's a tough question. They'll definitely enjoy it, unless they get spooked easily. It's scary like the Disney haunted house - all light and fun but dark colors and dark themes. There is swearing so that might be an issue. No sex or drugs, but…

I can write many reasons to see Hamilton, the Broadway musical…read more 1. The lyrics resonates depth with meaning. 2. The music is a blend that draws heavily of hip-hop, rap, R&B, soul, pop, and traditional Broadway show tunes. Modernized to 2015 era. Theatre patrons will not fall asleep. Theatre patrons will not be bored. Your ticket price paid is worth the theatrical experience. 3. It is based on the biography Alexander Hamilton, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States who was an instrumental supporter of the U.S. Constitution who fought alongside President George Washington in the Revolutionary War. His work laid the foundation of America whose face is worthy to be depicted on the U.S. $10.00 bill. 4. It depicts history of Hamilton's journey beginning as a Caribbean immigrant rising to America's first Secretary of the Treasury. It is deeply rooted in New York City history. It depicts American history of the opposition fight for independence and creation Independence of United States of America. He is buried in Trinity Church, Financial District, Lower Manhattan, NYC. It also narrates Aaron Burr's rivalry and jealously Hamilton's strong ambition, brilliance, and determination to rise. "Hamilton wrote the other 51!" Running time: about 2 hours and 45 minutes including a 15 minute intermission. I went to the room where it happens. I write this review like I was running out of time. Yesterday is a memory. Today is an opportunity. Tomorrow is not promised. Non-stop. Keep writing! I tell my story of my experience. It was exciting, lively and upbeat which does takes you back in time of Revolutionary America in 18th century period clothing with modern language and modern music. Ticket prices are highly extortionate! Tickets starts $127.00 to $155.00 for upper balcony or standard face-value seats. My rear orchestra center ticket was an astonishing extortionate $228.00! Hamilton, the Broadway musical makes use of the Richard Rodgers Theatre's double-nested rotating stage (turntables) prominently to create a dynamic, continuous movement and cinematic flow. I wish I saw the 2015 original cast Alexander Hamilton (Lin-Manuel Miranda) and Aaron Burr (Leslie Odom Jr.). Wait for it. Forward, eleven (11) years later I am now seeing it in 2026. I now have another Playbill and Broadway show ticket to add to my growing Playbill collection. Casting is non-white actors as the Founding Fathers of the United States and other historical figures for inclusion and equality. As per Lin-Manuel Miranda, songwriter, actor, and producer who described Hamilton: "America then, as told by America now." There is no traditional stage curtain for this Broadway show, but it did start and end on time - on point. There are 34 musical numbers total (17 musical numbers in each Act). The narrative is almost entirely sung and rapped through, thus, the numbers flow directly into each other without the traditional pause to segue in-between numbers. There is very little dialogue for spoken word as I would like a mix. There are occasional expletive explicit laden lyrical lines/ verses depicting strong explicit language "goddamnit." This includes uncensored F-word during the indiscretion of Hamilton's affair. "Cabinet Battle #1" & "Cabinet Battle #2" feature insults and harsher colloquial terms as "pain in the ass" and "shit." There are other numbers where expletive explicit laden lyrical embedded are "bastard" and "whore." Surely, my teddy bears speak more eloquently than thee! The costumes replicate 18th century Revolutionary era including U.S. founding fathers in white linen or lace cravats. My predilection for Hamilton musical numbers are: Satisfied Wait For It That Would Be Enough Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down) Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story Live with intention. My passions and interests entice me to pursue more to look around. "When everyone who loves me has died" this I can absolutely relate. "Death does not discriminate. It takes and it takes and it takes. I am the one thing in life I can control. I am an original." These versus resonate depth for meaning. Rise Up!

I have always questioned to learn, to attain knowledge, to cultivate clarity, to understand, to seek truth, to learn one's deliberate intent, sometimes to challenge and seldom to rebel. Not Slytherin. Not Slytherin. I have been a Harry Potter fan since the early 2000s when the first book by J.K. Rowling was printed and released. I absolutely refused to see a double-day / two-part play show format 5+ hours to be left hanging and return another day/time as it was originally produced, but this has changed which prompt as my reason to see it years later in 2026. This Broadway play does not play John Williams' film score "Hedwig's Theme" as I had desirable hoped. I do believe in magic. I saw Tom Felton perform his originated role as Draco Malfoy from the film franchise. As per "New York Theatre Guide" Tom Felton reprise his role as adult Draco Malfoy now through January 3, 2027! Run time: 2 hours and 55 minutes, with one intermission. One word: WOW! The narrative was at first somewhat difficult to follow especially the Time-Turner Effect scenes of what exactly did Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy changed or prevent from occurring? The set design, staging for quickly moving set, props by swirling long robes without revealing stage hands' faces, costumes are great and resonantly brought the viewer into J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter world as an adult nineteen (19) years after J.K. Rowling's final novel, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" of Harry, Ron and Hermione. The special effects including character swap Polyjuice Potion, including Dementors menacing floating near the audience and aerialist stunts in duels were amazing. I particularly like the special effects from Time-Turner for use of projection mapping high-powered projectors cast warping, liquid-like visual distortions; acoustic design low-frequency sound waves and the entire set appear to bend, stretch, and ripple effect like a disturbed puddle reverberating into the auditorium. The clocks placed in the corners of the stage spun recklessly rapidly. WOW. Voldemort's half-daughter leaves "invisible" scribbles on a bookshelf to be decoded by a black light above the audience visible on the ceiling and balcony facade projected throughout the auditorium walls in an eerie shade of green which garnered a lot of oohs from the audience including myself. Oh! Hot air emitting from Scorpius' ears after he eats candy is very comically humorous. The narrative does include and bring back old characters as the cruel villain, apathetic Dolores Umbridge and the wailing angst Moaning Myrtle and ill-fated Cedric Diggory. Moaning Myrtle's costume was not true to the book as her hair is not in pigtails and she is not wearing the Hogwarts uniform. Moaning Myrtle is depicted as grayed out who is a ghost. Draco Malfoy's iconic film line: "Scared, Potter?" and Harry Potter's response "you wish" are spoken resonate an echo in this Broadway play from the film. He thanked me for being so supportive and I remember crying!! He asked if my cat was named Jimmy or Fallon and told me to tell Fallon that he says hi. I ended up getting another hug and went back to my seat afterwards. All I remember is someone else asking a question about working with Queen Latifah again and the musical guest performing. I'm just relieved that my sobs weren't caught in the background because I was crying throughout the performance. When the show ended, he went back into the audience giving them high fives and when he was at my row, he leaned over so I could reach without falling and shook my hand!! That made me cry even harder! We didn't have tickets, so we went to the gift shop at 30 rock through the 6th ave entrance to score some stand-by tickets. We arrived what I would call late, at about 11am. If you want to get these stand-by tickets I'd recommend arriving as close to 8am as you can, because every ticket is numbered and they can only fit so many people into the studio (they will always try to fill it). If I recall correctly the tickets said to come back to 30 rock at 3:15 but note - if you arrive a bit later, say 3:30, it won't effect your chances of getting in - the most you can do to increase your chances to see a show that day by walking in is to get there at 8am when they first start giving out the numbered stand-by tickets. Also, while they say you cant bring in bags, I had a smaller sized north face backpack and my friend had a large plastic bag and a small purse. If your number gets you in to see the show that day, you will pass through security like at an airport. Everything is extremely orderly and organized, the only stressful part is 'am I going to get in to see the show or did I just spend an hour and a half of my day for nothing.' My friend and I just got in under the wire, with the guy behind us being the very last person to stand-by for this day's show (there were about 56 stand-by visitors accepted that day). You will have an opportunity to use a bathroom before you sit for the filming, so don't be concerned about that. If you're a fan of TV or of Fallon you might prepare a question or two to ask him, he took a number of questions from the audience. The funniest one was 'are you going to use that entire bit you just did' because Jimmy and Drew Brees spitting pumpkin seeds went on far, far, FAR too long, about 3? minutes, which was about 2:45 longer than it needed to be. Jimmy was quick with the 'no, that's going to be edited down.'

This show was sooooo good! The cast was amazing in how they played multiple roles of islanders or…read moreplane people. The power of their voices throughout the musical was strong. The band was great too, appreciated their "screech off" at the end. We got tickets from the TKTS booth and ended up 5 rows from the stage just a bit to the right. Great seats, we missed nothing. The set was well done and how the cast used the different chairs and arrangements was cool. I'd highly recommend this show on Broadway (before it ends on October 2nd!) or if it comes to a theater near you. We knew the premise a bit but were blown away and Come From Away exceeded all expectations. I've been listening to the soundtrack ever since (& a lot of the cast is the same).

Come From Away is one of the best shows I've seen on Broadway…read more The show is amazing! 90 minutes of pure entertainment. It's a musical about the 911 flights that had to land in Newfoundland. It hits all the emotions in a short time. I found myself laughing, falling in love with the characters and even felt a tear here and there. There's no intermission, so before you know it the shows over. I paid full price through American Express but when my husband came to join me a week later, we were able to get tickets at the TKS booth in Times Square for $75 a piece ( which was more than half off what I paid the first time!) and for both shows I was able to sit center orchestra 6 rows back. Totally enjoyable both times. The music was great and the actors were even better. I highly recommend this show. If you're in NYC between 1/18 - 2/13/22 check out NYC Broadway Week -they're offering 2 for 1 tickets on some great shows and this is one of them.
