Apart from being the only shop that sells children's clothing in Edgartown, NRO Kids is actually…read morereally great -- their selection of clothing, sleepwear and toys is adorable, and if I could purchase on of everything for my niece, I probably would. The only thing? It's on the pricey side, so I'll stick with one or two items, thankyouverymuch. The shop is attached to the adult version, simply NRO, and both sides sell lovely higher-end brands of beautiful wears for summering on the Vineyard. They carry a particularly cute line from a company called Rickshaw that features traditional block print designs on floaty, summery dresses and tops and a great line of pajamas called Hatley's. If you're on a budget, this probably isn't the shop for you as dresses for 18-month-olds start in the $50 range and some even go for triple that. However, the jammies I mentioned are super cute and retail for $35. A little pricey, but well made and well worth it. The clerks were stand-offish, unhelpful and cold, which I find off-putting especially in a children's store. In fact, the gentleman behind the counter actually scared my 21-month-old niece so much, she ran to me saying, "I"m scared!" If you're going to work in a children's shop, one of the most important requirements should obviously be 'must like children'. I mean, c'mon. Other than the unfriendly service, I think NRO Kids is a charming little shop and definitely fun to pop into for a bit of ooh-in and aaah-ing.

This store has some very cute clothing. I went yesterday and stood there at the cash register with…read moretwo very expensive girl's dresses in my hands and waited and waited to be checked out. But the two sales people were deep in conversation at the back of the store and never even looked at me. I was not going to go ask them for help, because that is not my job. I put the dresses back and left.

Before our son was born some years ago, we gave him a placeholder name of "Ichabod." As in Ichabod…read moreCrane and the Headless Horseman. Yeah, weird, but we had fun with it. We didn't want to go public with the actual name we'd chosen for him before he was born, and for the purposes of this review, I'll refer to him as Ichabod. Hey, it's nostalgic. After "Ichabod" was born, one of the nicest baby gifts we received was from our cousins - a soft white towel with colorful trains on it, and his name on it. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/FVluLU0ipBv3FoeRsBmo1g?select=-bfU5BxCC7DGP8EsUxeJLA Ichabod is not a common name, so it's not like our cousins just picked it up at the store. Our son loves his train towel, and uses it after every bath. Our friends just had a baby and named her Paisley. We thought this would be a perfect present for her. We called my cousin so we could give this great gift to our friends. It comes in a variety of colors and designs (butterflies, fairies, ducks, fire trucks, dinosaurs, zoo animals, fish, sailboats, etc.), and you can have other things personalized, including: * Towels * Hooded towels * Bibs * Spa wrap * Holiday stocking * Pail and shovel This makes a thoughtful gift for any kid and is very high quality. You can order online or over the phone. Ichabod loves his unique towel, and I think we'll buy others - especially for other kids with unusual names.

When Jennifer L. wrote her review of this site I bookmarked it. A dear friend of Tam's was…read morepregnant and I thought this would be a fine place to buy her baby a gift. After he was born I ordered a towel w/ sailboats and his name on it. I ended up calling to order it rather than going through the site because I don't like PayPal, which they use. It's a long story. Don't ask. The woman I spoke to was friendly and warm. She was a little apologetic that it would take maybe three weeks, I told her not to worry about it, that I'd waited this long to contact her and could wait a little longer. We agreed the baby wouldn't know the difference. The towel arrived while we were in KC and I opened it last night when we got home. It is a gorgeous blue, soft and beautifully crafted. I just love it and so will Mommy and Baby, I think. Enclosed was a sweet note w/ another apology for the wait and a coupon for a discount on my next order. Well, I have a little great niece who will be turning 2 this summer and could use a towel w/ her name on it. I look forward to choosing the color and design. This will not be my last purchase here. I think the prices are extremely reasonable and the website gives you a good sense of her products, which Jennifer lists in more detail in her review.
