Seipp's Bavarian Hefeweizen And Chips
Steve A.

Great place to sample beers. I'm certainly promiscuous for beers, among other things. Beermiscuous has a ton of selections from local breweries to choose from. Many that haven't gotten their due, and these can be gotten here. The prices are about what they are at a craft brewery, so it's not like it's cheap, but it has much better quality. Because it's in the middle of a hipster area, it's expected that there's a hipster selection to get. It has a few on tap, and many more in bottles and cans, many of which are local. There were a few I never heard of. Good prices for these kinds of beers. It's about $7 a pint. There's a few ones that are more expensive because those are stronger. I had the Seipp's Bavarian Hefweizen. This has slight banana notes with cloves, and it was pretty refreshing and smooth. For sure beers are the main things to get here. It also has chips if you need something to munch on. There's many other restaurants around here to get whatever.

Catherina Sour Ale

Came here for a quick beer as we were in the area. Cool place of Lincoln Ave. The bartender was really patience as it took me a while to select one beer. I went with Catherina Sour Ale. Decent beer. Almost had a mango lassi taste to it and then the sour hits you. They offer beers on tap and have a great selection of cans from many other breweries.

These guys are still in covid, mask required if you are on your feet

I was impressed by the beer and really turned off by the unfriendly bartender. In my experience, most craft beer establishments have bartenders who are engaging, this guy was more interested in getting to know the girl at the end of the bar. It also did not help that they have a mask requirement for standing. I had to put on my mask to walk 8 feet to sit down in July of 2022. As was explained to me later by the manager, they have some one on staff who is immune compromised so I respect the requirement. Still, there are better places in my opinion to drink beer in Chicago and I will try one of them next time I'm in town. Beermiscuous was recommended to me by a patron I met at another beer establishment. I had high expectations because on top of having great craft beer, this establishment has also published a book with a beer guide and tour of Chicago based on rail lines. Wish my experience was half as good as the guys recommendation. Unfortunately for me it wasn't. Beermiscuous for me was more beermeh meh meh.

Beermiscuous is my favorite beer bar the Chicago. It's like if a neighborhood cafe sold all beer and no coffee. It's a vibe. They have an expansive selection, and the staff is very knowledgeable if you want help picking out a beer. They have a draft menu as well. I love that you can get a discount if you buy beer-to-go. They are BYOF, so I love grabbing a bite from a nearby restaurant, but they also sell some snacks. They are dog-friendly, but there aren't a lot of good spots to tie a leash in order to drink hands-free. Great spot to work or read a book!

If want to find out about the craft beer scene in Chicago this is the place to go. They have a giant selection of craft beers from a lot of the local brewers in the area. They have an incredible selections of local bottled & canned beers (with discounts if you purchase them to go) & a rotating tap of locals beers. There's lots of room/seating on the main level & I believe an additional venue area downstairs. Like most tasting rooms they have lots of games & beer reading material to pass the time. With the big variety of local beers to choose from you can definitely find out about local breweries in the area to check out. If you aren't sure what brewery in Chicago you want to visit or you don't have enough time to check out each play individually then this is your best bet as a first option, they got a bit of everything from almost everywhere in the area.

Lucky Dorr has reasons to come besides baseball, and you don't have to be a fan to have a good time. A lot of choices from local breweries. There's also some ballpark style food like pretzels and junk. Curious about this, we made our way here when there wasn't a game. It was actually pretty chill and laid back with almost no one at the bar and patio. This is located next to the Cubs statues. Go check those out whether you're a fan of the team or just baseball in general. Those who don't care about the loser team can still enjoy the offerings. It's about $8 a pint, which is a bit of a ripoff, but expected with the location. There's selections from local breweries such as Pollyanna. Also there's food. It's $8 for a big ass Pretzel. Even if you don't like the Cubs, it's a nice little bar. It's open during the season even when there's not a game. The beer is a good sample of the local breweries, plus they have pretzels that are good for sharing.

We came in around 1:15am, thinking this would be a cool bar to end the night. The first bartender informed us that last call was approaching. We only wanted one round, so we immediately closed out after ordering. That bartender was very attentive and pleasant during the entire transaction. At 1:50am, the other bartender (who wasn't even serving us/hadn't spoke to us) came over and said we needed to start chugging. Her words: "I'm not going to tell you to get the f* out, but you need to chug". She kept telling us we needed to chug, and I kindly told her I wasn't chugging anything because we already paid and I can literally just leave. She brought up the bar closing soon (we already heard the very loud announcement for last call). She proceeded to blame it on having a bad day. Mind you, someone next to me literally just came in, and was being served. She tried to back out of it and kept repeating we'll know when it's time to go. I'm not sure what kind of establishment this is, but she didn't say anything to anyone else but us, the only two Black women at the bar at the time. I don't understand why she felt like it was okay to direct her "bad day" at us, sitting there calmly with two half drunken beers, while there were plenty of other people still up and active at the bar. The behavior displayed, completely unacceptable.

I love that their brewery is front and center and that they actually offer tours of it and the beers they make (and regularly rotate) go perfectly with their menu. Good Times Brewery is a sports bar serving burgers, sandwiches and pizza in Chicago's Lakeview…read moreneighborhood. I recently visited there on a Saturday night. First, the food is mediocre. The food wasn't terrible, but I wasn't very good. I ordered the northhsted nachos, crispy chicken sandwich and goodtime's special cookie skillet for dessert. All the nachos in the northhsted nachos were stale. The crispy chicken sandwich was deep fried perfectly and to a golden brown, but had no taste other than saltiness. The goodtime's special cookie skillet was fine, but not better than any other cookie skillet I've had elsewhere. The service was uneven at best. When I first arrived, there was no one at the host stand. I wait for sometime, and the bar tender eventually came over and seated met. Once I got a table the waitress was on par. The ambiance was best part of the restaurant. The vibe is that of an elevated sports bar. The restaurant was clean and had many TVs that were playing college football. They have a large bar and appear to have a good beer selection. It's a good spot to watch a game. I'm not saying this place is to be avoided, but there are definitely better places in Lakeview and in Chicago.
