I loooooved this experience! Coming in your can place your belongings on the left side with cubbies they have available. They suggest that you bring a yoga mat for the conditioning/stretching part so if you have your own I'd say bring one! This was such a different but fun kind of workout experience that pushes you to keep trying. Megan was amazing and was patient/kind with everyone- especially first timers like myself. You can ask questions and ask for help! Although as first timers my other group members suggested maybe another class specifically for folks who don't have the basics down such a grips and twists. At the end they provide little phone stands that you can use to record yourself if you'd like- such a cute touch! Overall it was amazing and I will definitely come back with more friends! First things first if you're parking after 11am go to the Schoolhouse garage structure across the street for $1 2hr parking. Before 11am you can almost always find free street parking behind Green Castle facing the mini park :) The studio is in the heart of Old Town Pasadena so if you're taking a 1hr class you have time to explore the many restaurants/stores that are walking distance from there. I wanted to keep taking pole classes after I moved to Pasadena and luckily this studio was nearby. My first class was a beginner class where we were shown a dance combo by the instructor Amelia - she did an amazing job and it helped me understand the fluidity of the choreo with the song we would be dancing to. She explained each move with detail and asked the class if there was any questions before we run a section of the combo together. I appreciate her enthusiasm after we finished a run-down as it takes such strength and cardio but it's so much fun too! Every instructor I've taken at beehive has taught me something new, so I definitely encourage to try different types of classes. The instructors also each have a different style of teaching but the flow of the class is roughly: warm up, main teaching (ex - choreography, tricks, conditioning, or a combo of them!), last song to practice freestyle and/or cool down. But again, it's mainly based on instructor and time left. Best way to look at the different types of classes is through their app. If you're hesitant on a certain class, let the instructor know beforehand your level and if modifications are possible; All instructors I've met have been kind and supportive :) I'm no where near intermediate but an instructor was nice enough to welcome me to the class where I can work and condition myself towards difficult moves. If you're just starting out though, I would recommend an Intro to Pole class for a nice opening on the foundational moves. From Buzz & Booty Choreo class, Stretch/Flexibility class to Exotic dance the studio has given me immense support as I keep learning. There's 15 poles in the main studio along with cubbies that contain yoga mats, workout bands, alcohol sprays, and phone stands you can use for class or open-pole. This place is the absolute best. Number one. First and foremost, love how everyone including the owner is super friendly and welcoming. I only started here a few weeks ago and was already invited to freestyle perform at their most fun Halloween studio party for members. All my new friends cheered me on and screamed the loudest for me. I felt the love. At every class, teachers and students believe in each other, cheer us on, and are attentive to any adjustments in pacing and moves needed. All classes are exciting ranging from choreo to tricks combo based level classes. I especially enjoy Hip Hop Choreo with Alice, exotic flow with Kate, L1 with Pragon, and L1.5 with Dani. I cannot wait to take buzz choreo with Suzy and L1 with Evonne. Mini Studio Bee rentals are the best with lovely speaker system, lights, mirror, 2 poles, Lyra, flying pole, for my practice and mini jam sessions with friends. I am stoked to rent out the main studio to karaoke pole party with my friends soon. Above all, Sheila is incredibly amazing, friendly, professional, responsive, and inspirational. Out of all the studios I have tried in LA, Beehive is my absolute favorite one. The location is PERFECT and in a very safe area close to bus stops and metro stations. There's a public parking building right across the street too. The studio itself is beautiful and so spacious. They have everything you may need during class like spray bottles of alcohol, bands, cloths for wiping the pole, TRIPOOODS (!!) and mats, both crash mats and regular ones. The teachers are all so knowledgeable, kind and so fun. The environment feels so welcoming and friendly and I meet so many amazing and nice people every time I go. They offer a wide range of classes from intro and beginner to intermediate and advance. They also offer Open Pole sessions from 1 hr to 2 hrs and that is sooo great especially if you wanna practice some tricks on your own. Really love Beehive! The space is clean and simplistic, and they provide everything you need in case you forget your own (cleaning spray, mini pole towels, phone holders, yoga mats, yoga blocks). Instructors are all very nice I just wish all of them did cool down exercises as they are important to avoid injury (some do but not everyone). Also, hope that classes level out in quantity, I feel like there's more types of certain classes than others which can make it difficult to be able to find a class you're ready for (example: the number of Level 2 classes offered versus the number of Level 1.5 classes offered). Was here last week with my girlfriends for a girls night out. We all had a great time. The studio is very clean and spacious. The parking structure is very convenient, it's right across the street from the studio and it only cost three dollars for about four hours. Our instructor Susie our instructor was so patient and teaching us the different moves and made it fun and enjoyable. I just had my first class Saturday night and absolutely loved everything about it. The instructors were amazing, sweet and very patient. Shot outs to Suzy and Sheila! I'm so happy I discovered this space! Beehive is truly a special place with incredible instructors. It's a great place to for beginner to start their pole journey or to continue growing your pole skills if you have been poling for a while! I actually took an intro class a couple years ago when I first started my pole journey but I've been going regularly since moving to LA and I'm so glad! If you are a true beginner, I highly recommend taking the intro to pole course a few times before moving up (most instructors have their own style and teach different combos/tricks every time so it doesn't get repetitive). I've been trying to get to everyone's classes to try out all the different styles and I would recommend that to everyone! Cazmara definitely does more choreo/free flow, but Larry and Ellie are more focused on conditioning -- it just depends on what you like (but all of them are equally great)! My main recommendation to beginners is to not be afraid to speak up and ask questions when you're feeling lost. The instructors are very kind and will happily pause class to review a trick, provide spotting help, or even share their grip (which sometimes you will desperately need)! Amazing place! I've been taking a few classes a week for almost a month now after a very long hiatus and I've loved everything about Beehive! The neighborhood is fantastic, the environment is welcoming and the instructors really care. I highly recommend Pragon's Tuesday 6pm. Looked at classes through the app which is amazing and had class on Friday! I decided to challenge myself with something new and I'm soooo happy I did! Literally I was in awe of the teacher Kate! I'd say, overall, pole dancing is a great workout, super challenging but mostly rewarding. - The classes: ALL and I mean ALL of the instructors are great at what they do, the schedule is very flexible and have levels from 0 to advanced, from choreo to pole conditioning. Any instructor will meet you at your level and give you tips if you want to level up. - The community: 10/10 - this is a safe space for everyone, no judgment, super supportive people. - Location: not sketchy unlike other studios, there's a parking structure right in front of the building, feels safe - The studio: definitely more affordable compared to other disciplines or studios. I feel like writing Beehive a shining review is overdue for me as I've been coming here for oh a good while. I started taking classes at Beehive back in 2021, on and off as I take breaks when life gets busy. What a great studio! Such a lovely setup...lots of poles spaced out well and they are tall poles allowing you to do more moves that are better with more height. The studio is very clean and pretty; you can tell the owner and instructors take care of it and and are invested in making it a nice place. I take Bee-ginner classes that do require some pole experience. Those new to pole should definitely start with Intro to Pole, or I believe the studio offers some flow, conditioning, and heels choreo classes that may be suitable for newbies. All the instructors I've taken are wonderful. I tend to take classes with Amelia and Sheila most since they fit my schedule, and because they are awesome lol. Amelia really breaks down and explains moves well and is just a cheery, funny person, making Friday nights fun and class a good pace when my brain and body are working slow at the end of the week. Sheila's classes are also fabulous. She encourages me to challenge myself in the best way possible. I surprise myself when she does that because I can actually achieve some impressive moves after underestimating myself. This studio has an extremely comfortable environment and sense of community. I don't know if it attracts super cool students or what, lol, but everyone is friendly from my experience. Like everyone is welcome. Everyone's there to learn themselves, but if I see my neighbor nail a trick, it's totally inspiring and you can't help but feel proud of them, ya know? I'm a huge introvert, and Beehive is a comfortable, happy place. Also, I'm in my mid-30's. If your curious to try pole, you definitely should, and try Beehive! Pole is the perfect combination of strength, flexibility, and gracefulness. I went to take the beginning class at this studio, first of all it's in a nice area and great location of downtown Pasadena, easy to park and the studio is super clean and neat and pretty ! The teacher Sheila is an excellent teacher who helps me at the pole dancing class, I like how she teaches us the basic skills to dance with the pole, the spinning and allows us to practice in our own pace, it's a good set up of learning, she also explains every moves slowly and helps you with each step! Came here with a group for a Bachelorette party. It was so much fun. The instructors were talented and made the experience Breezy and comfortable. I literally can't wait to go back. After the lesson they let us freestyle and play around, there was an iPad we could select music from, a couch for resting and fresh water available (because everyone was exhausted after)! I love this studio! I was looking for a beginner friendly pole studio to start my pole journey on and I think I've found it here at Beehive. I've taken classes from Sheila and Natalie and they are both SO encouraging, patient, and kind. I was able to achieve so much in just three classes and I'm looking forward to even more! The classes start with a short introduction of the instructor and the students. Then, we spend 30 minutes warming up and conditioning which is definitely necessary to prevent injuries and to prep your body for one of the most challenging workouts of my LIFE! Then the next 30 minutes the instructor goes over several tricks and pole moves, and then combines them together. You can record yourself in the final 3 minutes in class, which is highly recommended to keep track of your progress. I consider myself a fairly athletic person, but to say this class kicked my ass is an understatement. However, the vibe in this studio is so encouraging, warm, and supportive that it was easy to let myself try and attempt the pole moves. Bee-ginner classes are fantastic for individuals who have somewhat of a fitness background. If you're unsure, I'd recommend trying an Intro to Pole class to see where you are or call/email the studio and ask! Everyone there is really nice. Also: please wear shorts and a tank top! You need your skin to grip the pole for a lot of these moves and it'll save you a lot of frustrations related to slipping from the pole. It is open during COVID and I felt very safe. Class sizes are small but I honestly prefer it that way. They do fever checks prior to class and ask that the students drink water outside. Hope you get a chance to check out this lovely studio!! This place has made such an impact on my life both physically and mentally. I'm SOsoso grateful to my friends for introducing me to pole dancing. This place has been so welcoming, accepting, and supportive. I've always hated my body but I've finally come to a place where I can look in the mirror and say I love what my body can do, rather than what it looks like. Here are some tips I've learned as a complete beginner: - WEAR SHORTS. You need as much skin as you can to grip the pole. Wear shorts. - All the teachers have varying difficulties of teaching styles. I haven't taken any other Intro classes with other teachers currently on Mindbody so I can't comment on their intro classes. I can say however that Sheila is one of the tougher ones . Her conditioning is pretty demanding and even though I've been taking classes for a few months now I'll sometimes go to her class just to get conditioning in. She also goes over moves that are foundational for more challenging moves so you get an idea of what you can expect as you advance. I think if all you want to do for your first class is to know if you'll even like pole dancing or not is to take Amelia's class. - Don't be afraid of sucking. I can't count how many classes where I was easily struggling the most in the class lol Everyone's been there. It took me a couple of months of taking Intro classes before I attempted the Beginner class, so don't be intimidated by other students in your class! - This is generally how a class goes: You take off your shoes and leave them at the front, and then grab one of the small brown bottles of alcohol and towel from the front. Pick a pole and there are yoga mats in the back if you'd like to use one. The class starts off with about 20 minutes of conditioning before you start pole work. After the class there's sometimes a few minutes where you can record yourself. - There's some street parking right out front and in the neighbourhood on the road on the right past the studio.
