Beef N Bone Steakhouse - Montana beef Tomahawk steak with mushrooms and loaded mashed potatoes - Steakhouses Near Me - Ulm, Montana

Heading to Great Falls to explore, saw a billboard for B&B then saw the restaurant couple of miles down the road, looked like your every day roadhouse, meh. Yelp had it being 3 $$$, what, that place??? Decided to stop in anyway and WOW what a difference inside, ok looking more $$$. Had a 15 minute wait for a walk in, everything after that was top notch. Our waiter Josh couldn't have been more accommodating!!! Stuffed mushrooms w/crab were amazing as was the salad with the fresh Gorgonzola dressing ( a bit heavy but perfect for my taste). We had the best flat iron steaks we've ever had, perfectly cooked MR and very tender. We also had the chicken fried steak with the peppercorn gravy, being it was the high end beef cut was the most tender and best we've ever had!!! Even with the price of the meal it is very reasonable and definitely worth it. We WILL be back. Reservations recommended,we lucked out with the early walk in @ 5:30. read more

Great atmosphere, wonderful food, AMAZING service and dessert was unbelievably perfect! I wish I could remember our servers name, but I can't - he was EXCELLENT! Highly recommended. read more

First time I ever went it was delicious!! I have gone two times after and have had my $65 t bone steak over cooked. Wont be giving it another chance. read more

What a treat! In-laws surprised us after picking us up at the airport. Clam Chowder was home made and sooooo delicious! Honey had the prime rib and didn't leave anything on his plate. We were too full to get dessert, but we will get the tuxedo cheesecake when we came back! Oh ya...love the atmosphere! Lanterns on the table made it cozy and they still had Christmas decorations up-MY Favorite!!! Being that it was February it was a nice surprise! A must try for Great Falls MT! read more

We ate here last week for my husband's birthday. I've heard great things from people in town and we were excited to go for our first time. The potstickers were extremely oily and lacked flavor. We ended up taking most of our food again. My husband's steak was overly done, very grisly, and very fatty. I found about 11 small bones in my cut of walleye. I ended up throwing some of it away, as I was afraid I'd accidentally eat a bone. The sauce was not very flavorful and was also pretty oily. So disappointed. :(. read more

This was my third time at Beef n Bone, and I have been so impressed, every time. The food and service are both excellent. I have never heard a complaint from any of the people with me (one a party of 25 and 2 parties of 8). On my first visit to BnB, I had the Missouri Breaks. It was an incredibly rich concoction with crab, asparagus, cream and other deliciousness. However, I would recommend ordering it as an appetizer so you can still enjoy the ribeye or prime rib. The herb seasoning on the steaks is fabulous and they are very well cooked. The prime rib is huge and the angry horseradish adds phenomenal flavor. An interesting variety of potato options are offered and the salads are great, with several of the dressing options made on the premises (get the bleu cheese!). The beer and wine lists, while not huge, offer a nice variety, including Montana made options. I also appreciate the fact that Chef Michael has always come out to check on us and make sure were enjoying our meals. He not only checks, but actually seems to care about our responses and spends time chatting if he is not swamped. Beef n Bone is certainly worth the 8 minute drive from Great Falls. They do take reservations, and I recommend making them or calling to at least make sure they will have a table open. They are not a huge place, and they can fill up quickly, especially on occasions like prom night, when the entire restaurant might be reserved before they even open for the night. Long story short, take the drive. It's worth it. read more

This is a little lengthy and I want to preface by saying I've never made a negative complaint or sent food back in my life. Anyways, after reading reviews of iffy service we were a little hesitant but heard rave reviews about the food itself so we decided to give it a try as a special occasion (its spendy). Long story short, service wasn't great. Waited 15 mins to get a table even though we had a reservation. Didn't get our dinner until an hour and a half later. That isn't a huge deal to me. They were busy and seemingly understaffed so I don't mind. However, my steak was awful. The mushroom sauce was rancid, it tasted exactly like human feces (I know how crazy that sounds) I asked for it to be sent back, they took it back and rinsed it off with water and brought it back. It was inedible. Since it was 9pm at that point and I was tired and lost my appetite we just paid and left. I'm not sure if they just had a bad batch or an off night but I've never tasted anything like that in my life. It smelled and tasted just like feces. Definitely never going back. $120 down the drain read more

Everything was great starting with the phone call for a reservation. The service was amazing and the food is off the charts made from scratch and delicious! This is my second visit to this fabulous place and it was perfect both times. The appetizers, salad, bread and the entree was once again perfect. The price for what we got would be triple in big cities! This place is AWESOME! read more

Beef N Bone Steakhouse - Cooked perfectly with the right amount of fat! YUMMMMMMY!! - Steakhouses Near Me - Ulm, Montana

This place was by far the best steak I have had and I raise my own beef. The steak was cooked a perfect rare and that's hard to find. The outside is a bit deceiving but as soon as you walk in you are greeted very warmly by the staff. I ordered the chef special with cream and crab sauce which was to die for!! Highly highly recommend. Also go with the loaded mashed potato! Wow! Literally everything is delicious! And I loved that there owner and the chef came out to check on us. This place deserves all the 5 stars!! read more

My wife and I were in Great Falls for work. We were in the mood for steaks and went to Yelp for advice. This place went beyond our expectations. Great staff. They made us feel welcome from the start. Explained the whole menu to us, and we never felt rushed. From the appetizer, to the main meal, to desert, everything was excellent. read more

My husband & I along with my oldest son ordered a steak-- one ribeye, one prime rib and a flat iron. They were some of the best cuts of meat we had ever had and were all cooked perfectly. Melt in your mouth and flavorful. My other teenage son ordered the Missouri Breaks and it was amazing as well--shrimp, mushrooms, asparagus & onions smothered in cream sauce and cheese and served with baguette bread. My youngest ordered the chicken basket and he enjoyed it. Even the salad was awesome. Can't say enough. Great service and an amazing meal but yes quite pricey. It was worth it to us! read more

Wonderful food, and wasn't expecting cooking of this calibre in Montana which is generally terrible. Felt a little underdressed as we are not from the midwest and figured with a name like Beef N Bone it would just be your standard outback steakhouse kind of place. But most folks were dressed for a night out. My beef tenderloin was exquisitely cooked to a perfect medium rare, I also enjoyed overhearing the hostess politely tell another patron that the chef refused to cook a steak well done, thus ruining it. Bravo. Warning that portions are too huge to have an appetizer and the meal unless you are sharing. But unlike alot of places that use portion size to mask quality that is not the case at all here. read more

Let me start by saying the food is well worth the drive. We were pleasantly greeted and showed to our table. Were were approached by Catherine who said she would be our server. She described the menu along with the local sourced beef from Bear Paw Meats. I ordered a nice bottle of red ziffendale, which was very tasty. I brought Mom for her early birthday and my late birthday, so we wanted something special. We decided to share the 24oz ribeye. When she came back, I started to place my order and told her we wanted to share. She informed me that only 2 items on the menu were sharable... WTH?? She assumed we were trying to be cheap, so she directed mt to the cheapest items on the menu...SMH. We finally decided to order one of the 2 "allowable" items, a 26oz Big MT ribeye and added on an extra salad and side, she said would be $3-4, but were charged $10, not a big deal, but still...the salad was crisp and fresh with tons of spring greens, bacon, gorgonzola, and homemade ranch, yum. The ribeye was huge, perfectly seasoned and cooked to medium rare, amazing! Nice baked potato. About 15 minutes after we were served the steak. She asked us if we wanted to go containers?? Please let me enjoy my meal at my place. The final straw was after we finished eating and when I asked her to cork the remaining wine so we could take it home. I was informed that it was illegal for them to do that. I knew different, so I pulled up the MT statute that allows recording, as long as you lock it in the glove box or trunk. She still refused. She then stated that we could leave the rest and they would cook with it...again WTH?? I was not going to give it away out of pure principle at this point, so we took our time and finished it. While we we relaxing, she sent out another server with a Q&A printout from some website stating it was against the law...seriously? You send someone else out to close a discussion.?? Kudos to Chef Michael, the food was spectacular...too bad this experience was ruined for us..very disappointing. read more

My favorite restaurant in Great Falls by far. Yes it's actually out of town a bit but close enough for a quick 10 minute drive. Go early (before 6) or make reservations. Great steak menu and though it will cost you a bit more than usual you will never be disappointed by a piece of leather coming out in place of your medium rare prime rib. Drink menu has plenty of wines and good beers. Service is always friendly. If you are not into beef their alternatives have always impressed my wife who is anti beef as well. read more

Would have given 5 stars but when greeted by Eric the Owner/Manager greeted us in a very unwelcoming way...not a way to start out someone's first visit...our waiter Josh was awesome...Funny, engaging and made us feel welcome...will be back as the food is amazing...prime rib was perfect! read more

If you're in the market for a really great steakhouse go to beef N bone. We are from Silicon Valley , California and eat some pretty high end food and Leah de dah no we're not snobs, we are working people. We were the only non-Montana license plate on the balmy summer Thursday night. Out server appeared within a few minutes and was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We ordered right away. I had the Buffalo Filet, 8 Oz and my husband had the 10 Oz Sirloin. The steaks were cooked to perfection. I have never had a better Buffalo Filet, and I have dined around the world and eaten many native meats including Nepal and Southern Africa. I heartily recommend this place! And the wine and salad were great too. Chef Michael came out and visited tables to see How the guests were enjoying the meal. Top Notch!!! read more

We were super excited to try Beef N Bone, looking for a higher end restaurant in the Great Falls, MT area. We were greeted and explained the menu and thought to ourselves this is going to be amazing. We ordered a bottle of wine and perused the menu contemplating which Montana steak would be best. We debated the Tomahawk steak, but wanted to try two different cuts of meat. One of us got the NY from the Boneyard menu, and the other got the special. We were told that the special was a "10 ounce ribeye with mushrooms, shrimp, and crab meat on top" This sounded unique and different so we gave it a go. The potato soup was a good portion, given four total tiny pieces of bread to share and the salad was mediocre with a few dried out leaves of lettuce. We ordered both of our steaks medium rare. The NY came as a pretty big cut of meat, tough, dry and overcooked, tons of fat/gristle, and a bone. Not melt in your mouth as expected with a properly cooked, aged steak. The baked potato was less than appetizing. Dried out, overcooked, served "loaded" with a few shreds of cheese and a some bacon crumbles. Offered butter and sour cream after it arrived to the table. The ribeye steak arrived covered in shrimp/mushrooms/crab looked less than appetizing, almost like something vomited on the plate. The sea food tasted very "fishy" and shrimp way overcooked. The meat turns out was not a traditional ribeye as expected it was "slow cooked prime rib style" Prime rib and ribeye come from the same cut of the cow, but have two completely different textures, should this had been explained prior to ordering we would have ordered something else. After two bites of the ribeye and realizing this was not at all what we thought we were getting the sever was called to the table and the question was asked about why we had gotten a prime rib. The server left to talk to a manager, came back and read from her "ipad" the actual description of what we had ordered. She basically said sorry, this is what you ordered. Keep in mind prior to ordering the "special" there was no written description in the menu it was just told to us, the verbal description did not include "slow cooked". Nothing was offered to fix the situation, no manager came to the table. Moments after the server came back with no remedy to the situation we were then asked if we wanted boxes and were done eating. We still had 1/2 a bottle of wine left, 80% of our food left and felt rushed to leave. While we were finishing our dinner, chef "Michael" was seen at the bar glaring at us while making a beverage. We finished our bottle of wine, paid full price, and still tipped 20%. We will NEVER go back to this place!! read more

Had a really good steak here last night. Only gripes I have are there was a bit of gristle on one end and ~1/2" of fat on the filet side of my porterhouse that should've been cut off/trimmed by butcher, and I got mashed potatoes instead of a loaded baked potato like I asked for. Horrible place to go eat if you are ethnic, we arrived approximately around 7:30pm. We entered went to the host check in and the woman said a table will be available between 7:45-8, we said okay I gave her my information so she could call me when it's ready. My wife and I go back to car thinking it won't be long till we get sat. So time passes and it's 8:15 so I called to see what's happening and tells me that a table is about to open up and I say okay I hang up. So now I'm waiting for her to call me back but she's doesn't so I ask my wife do you just want to go somewhere else and she says yes so we leave. Also wanted to add we waited in our car for an hour before leaving to another establishment. As well a caucasian couple walks in as we're waiting in the car and doesn't walk out so my first thought is they got sat quickly, so I highly recommend not dining here if you are ethnic. read more

I have dined here twice. Both times the ribeye steak was mostly gristle and fat. We literally had to dissect meat from around the fat and gristle, also the steak was very rare instead of the medium rare we ordered. We pointed this out to the server, who was very sweet and efficient up to that point, and she never addressed the issue. Then after we paid the check an older woman came up to ask about our meal, we told her how inedible the ribeye steak was, she said we should have tried the flank steak if we wanted something more tender. Oh, so it was our fault!!! She continued saying that she is the chef's wife and that they have had issues with their meats since Covid. Also that she doesn't eat meat. Neither have anything to do with our steak being over half fat and gristle. I told her she shouldn't talk to her guests that way and blame them for their bad meat. She offered a 10% discount on the ribeye! I had already paid the bill, as she knew. I told her no, that wasn't necessary. But now we know how much she values her customers. About $3.50 each. Oh, and as we were walking out, she was scolding our server for something. Our server was wonderful, nice lady. Doesn't deserve to be talked to that way. Not sure if we will go back. read more

Dined at Beef N Bone for the first time this past Thursday. To sum it up...it is nothing special. I'm not sure what all the hype is about. Especially in regards to the "chef". (Although maybe he had the night off, but I doubt it). I had high hopes that this would be something special in terms of a nicer place to go for dinner, particularly since the GF area is lacking in that department. The interior is nice (actually a lot nicer than I thought it would be since the exterior doesn't look that great). You can tell they put a lot of thought into the finishes when they remodeled the interior. One thing though....they kept the popcorn on the ceiling (GF l-o-v-e-s their popcorn ceilings). ;-) Anyway, I digress... We were seated promptly, and overall I cannot complain about the service. Although the waitress did stop by the table to ask if we needed anything about 3 too many times. I guess that's better than not checking on us at all. The food was mediocre at best. Starting with the salad. Most of the lettuce on both or our salads was the white part of the lettuce (not my favorite). We were told that 3 of their dressings are home made. I had the blue cheese, and I have definitely had better. I was expecting more chunks of blue cheese, and better flavor overall. The salad also had bacon bits (so beware vegetarians!) I had the half rack of ribs and I have also had much better. The meat, although tender seemed to be of lower quality. The sauce ok, but nothing special and there could have been more of it. My dinner companion had a shrimp entree, which was less than ok in terms of freshness and flavor. As for desert, I would have expected there to be some homemade options, but there were not. I had a slice of pie and it would have been nice if it had been warmed because it was very, very cold. The kicker was the coffee....I was served a mug of hot water and a packet of instant.....yeah instant. I was not expecting that! If you are willing to drive a ways out of GF for good food, I would highly recommend the Missouri Inn Restaurant and Bar in Cascade, right off the the Hardy Creek exit). Now that's a dining experience that is worth the drive! read more

We really wanted to like this place. We were recommended this place for a great steak by friends ( we are from CA). From the greeting that included a lecture on not having a reservation, which was completely unnecessary since we got a table immediately, to reading the entire menu to us, to finally telling us how to fill out our credit card receipt..... This really took away from our experience here. But the worst part was paying almost $70 for their "famous" tomahawk steak and having it come over cooked. The only reason we didn't send it back was because we didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for the steak.....the frog legs were good and so were the loaded potatoes......but the experience definitely wasn't worth $100. read more

Made reservations and they stuck us at a table for six in a cold corner. No draft beer and the walleye was very wet and slimy. I made a point of asking for a well-done piece of fish. Did not seem to sink in. My wife ordered chicken and she said it had a great taste but it was very tough. They forgot the bread and the atmosphere was kind of cold. Don't think we will be going back. read more

We finally had time to stop for dinner at the Beef N Bone. But very quickly regretted it. The waiter abruptly stopped us at the door and told us not to bother if we didn't have a reservation. I understand that Friday nights are busy but to be treated so rudely ensures that we will NEVER stop again. We work too hard for our money to spend it being treated badly. If he had said it with a smile instead of the extremely annoyed look he had on his face...we might reconsider as we understand that everyone has a bad day now and then. But when your entire business is based on customer satisfaction I'd make sure my employees understood that they are part of what keeps customers coming back. Good luck on your dining experience and I hope you catch the wait staff on a good day :) read more

The food was amazing. Tried the frog legs and the Missouri Breaks for appetizers. We visited this restaurant for the first time tonight for my husbands birthday. Although we did not have a reservation, we were able to be seated right away. The atmosphere was great, but the service was even better. I can't remember the name of our male server, but he was very attentive and made sure we were satisfied. My husband ordered the 20oz prime rib medium well and that's exactly what he got. He was surprised when he cut into it because restaurants rarely ever get it right. Not only was it cooked perfectly, it was tender. My 8 year old son ordered a burger with cheese that was quite large and for the first time ever he ate the whole thing. We will definitely be returning! read more
