Stopped off on the way home from a day sunning ourselves at Loch Lomond with the friend with children for some dinner.
It was a gloriously sunny day so we chose to sit outside, the food seems to take a wee bit longer if you're outside, but they do make you aware of the fact that's likely, so fair play to them for that. The kids menu was extensive enough that even Mr. Picky Pants found something he wanted, and both the kids inhaled their food upon it's arrival so I think they enjoyed it (it was hard to tell really, it was a bit like being in a zoo at feeding time).
The friend and I had had burgers, she had the traditional beef and I pipped for the southern fried chicken. Both went down pretty well but the burgers would benefit from even a tiny bit of garnish of some description. The gigantic peri-peri onion rings we ordered as a side went down a storm with the kids as well as ourselves, they were superb.
There's animals and a decent play area to keep the kids amused so we could sit and chat in the sun over a drink in peace. It seems pretty popular with walkers and cyclists passing through for a drink, which can leave the bar area (where you order food if you're outside) the uncomfortable side of busy so I'd be prepared for that.
The staff are friendly and efficient enough, although the guy serving us seemed a wee bit jumpy and nervous, I guess he's maybe new to the job and still finding his feet. I also noticed that despite asking for a table number along with outside orders, the staff still seemed a bit confused about who had ordered what and where things were going.
However the food was decent, the prices reasonable and it was a lovely end to a great day out. Can't really fault it, don't want to! :) read more
