My husband frequents this shop but I've been in maybe once in the last few years. Until recently shopping for Christmas gifts did I decide to check out their selection and I was pleasantly surprised by the huge variety they carry for all ages. When I saw Bluey books displayed I was surprised as it's not something a "comic book"/"nerd" shop is going to carry especially since they have a lot of independent TTRPG games I'm not familiar with. Then I found their youth selection of books -Goosebumps to The Babysitter's club to horror genre for young adults. They're not just a shop that caters to Funko Pop Culture to get by so they can have their Indy games and Call of Cthulhu game sessions. The staff was so helpful in giving me a ton of information and helping me with my needs. I had so many recommendations and they knew what they were talking about. I love that this place is about cultivating from a young age a love of books. I highly recommend this store over the other "nerd" stores in the surrounding area. I've been to them and was so disappointed with their selection of games and books and also the lack of professionalism. read more

Was out and about in this area of town and thought I would pop in and check these guys out. Pretty big location, packed with everything you would want/need from a comic book shop. Bedrock is the premier comic book location in the Houston area. They have six locations now and my youngest son wanted to visit all six for his birthday. We made it to five in two days. All of the locations are filled with comics, graphic novels and omnibus, toys and games and Funko Pops. The workers there are always friendly and willing to help you find what you're looking for, and if they don't have it there they will contact one of their other locations to see if they have it or maybe even order it for you if you'd like. My only complaint about their stores is it's kind like walking into a Barnes & Noble if you're looking for books, as in there is no discounts. So while I love to look at the books there (I collect graphic novels and omnibus) I don't usually buy from them because it's much cheaper to buy either through Amazon or through other comic book wholesalers who actually give you a significant discount. And while I love supporting the small business that bedrock is, I can't for my bank account sake pay $125 or $150 for a book that I could buy for $70-$80 through another comic book distributor. My son loves it because he collects the Lego mini figures and they have tons of them, and that's why we were there this week. But I did find a book and I did buy it because I love small business and I love Bedrock. If you collect comics you also love visiting any of the six Houston locations and I hope you will. read more

The selection and everything they have in store could meet a lot of people's needs, including mine! The only downside is that almost every worker is incredibly pretentious. I feel shot down whenever I try and be friendly while checking out, as well as whenever I call to see if they have something in stock. Like you signed up for this job? Try smiling lol. read more

Not only do they have a fantastic selection, but the environment is welcoming, clean, and comfortable to spend several hours in. The employees are all incredibly polite and helpful. I never felt inferior or judged for having little knowledge of comics. Overall shopping experience is fantastic, I highly recommend. read more

This is a cool little store. My son saves his money to come here every week to purchase legos. And for him to only be six years young, he even knows when the store have a sale. Lol which I can say the prices are cheaper than the lego store. If your looking for collectibles without the box and fancy paper. read more

I go to this place all the time and I've seen a change in the staff. Every time I go in to this location all you smell is body odor. It's so bad the whole store smells in the area they are in. Today was no different. The last time I came here it was o bad I left immediately after not be able to take the stench. I called the manager and expressed my feelings about the matter. I explained this wasn't a random customer. Today I did a full lap and the tans guy up front short brown hair smelled and so did the other worker a guy with shaggy hair This was 5/2 at 11:32am. Nobody should have to smell how bad you smell while trying to shop at your business. They are wearing mask so maybe they don't smell it as bad but c'mon the Asian manager who I spoke to before said she would speak to her employees. Please do it again this is so gross. The next time I go in if they smell like that have the past 4 visits I'm gonna say something in the store. Dollar tree is right next door get some deodorant. Decided to contact the store. Spoke to the manager Micheal who thinks if someone is telling him his employees needs deodorant b/c it smells that he's being "talked at a certain way" having a conversation with him was like listening to a 5 year old make excuses. In the end he was arrogant and said "what would you like me to do?" Seriously? He said none of the employees have smelled anything, but they all wear mask. He seemed genuinely uninterested in dealing with my phone call or the issue. I would not recommend this place to anyone after that. I will spend my money elsewhere. read more

The BEST Comic store in Houston, nay, Texas? Back when I first got into comics, I hated going to certain local stores because the employees were kind of snobby and felt like it was a burden to help me, because of the independent, non-mainstream comics I enjoyed. Thank god I discovered Bedrock City! The staff is so friendly, always providing great recommendations based on what you're into, and if they don't have what you want- they will find a way, and they will get it! They've got golden age, silver age, small press, indie, and even some comics from local artist/writers! And the selection of toys, statues, and memorabilia is huge! I'm always impressed by the stuff they've got! Bedrock City loves their customers. They have seasonal sales, and "secret" facebook sales, they've got poker nights and customer appreciation nights. I can't recommend them enough, whether you're new to comics, or have been reading them for years. read more

This place is the best! I've been to the location on Westheimer and that location is exactly what you would expect when picturing a comic shop. This location is the opposite. Bright, spacious and filled with wonderful geeky goodies. My son likes Pokemon, my daughter likes Harry Potter and Doctor Who, my wife is into Disney, Zelda and Futurama, I like Super Mario and comics; this place has it allllll covered! If you have a few bucks, or even if you don't, head on over there and check out the hats, the shirts with capes attached, the backpacks, the figurines, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and current action figures, posters, plush toys, and, of course, the comics. You might be able to find some of this stuff online, but it's the staff at this location that really make this the place to go for all your geeky needs. They are always friendly, helpful, willing to talk about shared interests and recommend stuff you'll enjoy based off what you already like. Their customer events are always lots of fun, too. Definitely attend one of those if you can. read more

If you're looking for the latest issue of Saga, it's there. If you want My Little Pony schwag, it's there. If you are looking for the latest Indie title, Archaia book, or small pub title, it's there. The customer service has overall been great. If they don't have a comic book that I'm looking for, the staff is happy to order it from a satellite store, or another vendor. Superb! I did have a bad experience on Labor Day, a day where the store should have probably been fully closed, but instead had just a few employees working who seemed to be in the back on eBay rather in the front. We had to wait several minutes to throw 80$ at the staff for our purchases. My advice to the manager would be to close entirely on holidays such as Labor Day if you can't provide the manpower to totally serve customers. No biggie, but it is the difference between four and five stars. Overall analysis: Clear Lake / Webster is a pretty sleepy town. If you don't have a relationship to Boeing or NASA, it can seem a bit dull there. But it is stores like Bedrock that make it more fun and modern for geeks. read more

I was so disappointed in this store. Not because of the selection, but because of their inability to let my five year old granddaughter use the bathroom. The guy said, "you can go next to to the Dollar Tree." I wasn't shopping at the Dollar Tree. I was shopping at Bedrock. That's the last time. I will be sure to order things on line that I want that I could get there. If you want people to spend money, maybe you should invest in people spending time there too...how rude! read more

Helpful staff, great selection. They had an awesome sale around Christmas time so I managed to get a good deal on some stuff I really wanted. There was a party with food earlier that night but I had to pick up my boyfriend from work and missed it; however, that was a nice thing to do. We'll be going there regularly to start building our comic collections again. Really, I don't have much more to say about it, but there's a word minimum I haven't met yet so I've got to come up with more stuff to say. There isn't much. It's a comic book store and I recommend the heck out of it. So shop there. read more

By far, the best comic book store in Houston. The stereotype of comic book stores is dark, untidy, crowded places with arrogant staff. Most of the stores in Houston, over the last decade, fit that model. Bedrock does not. Bedrock is clean, well lit, with plenty of open space but still a large amount of stock. The store carries new comics, back issue comics, trade paperbacks, toys, action figures, statues, clothing, and collecting supplies. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Because Bedrock has 3-4 other locations around town, if you need a book and the store is out of it, they'll jump on the phone and get that book sent over from one of the other stores. Customers with pull-lists get a discount. read more

This comic book store chain is awesome! This location has knowledgeable friendly staff. Through normal comic book chit-chat, the staff has suggested several new comics that I currently love! There is no single type of comic book shopper here, I've seen jocks here, I've seen girly girls, star trek nerd types, big bang theory nerd types (there is a difference in nerd types) and of course I've seen plenty of folks like myself, aka, fits no category. All enjoy the books, toys, tees, etc. The only thing I find disappointing is their stock of old issues. There never seems to be enough to skim through and find what you're looking for. The prices of comic books seems to be a lot more than I remember 10 years ago but this is not a fault of the store, more of an FYI. read more

Great staff. Everyone is cool. I wasn't always a comic book collector. They made it easy to find books and help me understand what was going on and that helped me get start. But since they opened the new store I have had some minor issues. My pull box some times are missing issues. Like they'll pull 1, skip 2 and pull 3. Also the back issues aren't always instock. I stopped in a couple weeks ago looking for a couple of Gundam kits ($50-60+). before I got to that part of the store, I was milling about the front, and none of the 3 people working even acknowledged my presence. I found what I was looking for, and made my way to the register, only to be "clerked" by a somewhat grumpy senior citizen man. He sure didn't try to hide the fact my attempt to spend money was an inconvenience to his entire month. I asked him if they carried or could order Gundam Markers (paint markers), and he grumbled that "all our paint is over there." and he pointed off to some corner of the store. I told him I didn't think there were any over there and he said "then we don't have them." (NO KIDDING GRANDPA!) Fortunately another guy heard the conversation and corrected him, and fetched box of about half a dozen or so Gundam Markers. unfortunately they didn't have the colors I was looking for. The old man seemed annoyed I didn't want any of the markers they had (and probably also annoyed someone else showed him up a bit). Once I paid for the 2 kits, I asked the guy if I could possibly have a box to put them in, since they are large boxes themselves. His exact words were "I don't have any boxes." As I stared at a pile of at least a dozen empty boxes scattered about on the floor behind the counter. Another guy that worked there, who overheard, and could clearly tell I was baffled by the assessment that they had no empty boxes laying around, chimed in an asked "what's he looking for?" "A box." the old man said rudely, with a tone as if I was crazy. "Oh yeah, I can get you one," the other guy said. and he walked right over to the pile and grabbed one big enough and glady gave it to me. The old man just grumbled at this. I said thank you to both him and the other gentleman. the other one responded kindly, the old man just grunted. This place has a table full of items I am into, walls full of items I am into, and shelves full of stuff I am into and I can/could EASILY spend hundreds of dollars in here a month, but after the way I was treated by the old man who clearly didn't want to serve a customer, and had no clue about what they carried for product, and had no issue blatantly lying about a simple request for a cardboard box, I won't be back. People like him are another reason people shop online now. It's worth paying a bit extra to support local business and "get it now," but not when instant gratification comes at a price of dealing with uninterested a**holes. read more

Went in recently to look for some comics that I wanted to add to my collection I am starting and I am very pleased to say I love this store. It is a little farther than the one on 1960 for me to drive to but it was worth it. I got in and within a few seconds of walking in I was greeted and asked if I could be helped. When I found some of the items I was looking for I asked the girl working the register for some help or advice and she was quick to give me some advice on some new titles I might look into reading. The store is clean and well stocked, the staff were working on putting comics out and still made time to go help the customers int he store. Very professional, will be going back soon. read more

Brightly lit and smells good, too! No stinky nerd-funk in here... I don't visit this store as much as I'd like to because -- I'd go BROKE! So much amazing and fun stuff to look at and buy. The staff there is very friendly. Far cry from every other shop I've been in. The local art they have is surprisingly good! Be aware if you can't find it in the store, they can find and order it for you. Recommended. Also, take a look at the other reviewers -- most are of the female persuasion. This is a great comic book store! The staff is super friendly and I've spent hours there just geeking-out with some of them. They have a good selection of graphic novels, current and back issue comics, as well as a large selection of collectibles and other merch. A definite must for H-town comic lovers. read more
