I purchased a perfectly sized cookie scoop, and unlike with Amazon shopping, there was a range of sizes to choose from. I also bought a small heavy duty spatula and grabbed a pound of Ethiopian coffee, freshly roasted. Prices are a little higher than Amazon, but shopping local has its own rewards. There is also an interesting section of the store selling Syracuse China items. Apparently, you can sell your Syracuse China sets to Smith's. Had a lovely time perusing the shelves.

Very Disappointed with My Recent Visit to Ace Hardware…read more I've been shopping at this location since 2010, always trying to support local, family-owned businesses--but after today, I'm seriously rethinking that choice. I went in to return an item and was upfront and respectful from the start. I let the cashier know I had a return and quietly waited my turn. When I reached the counter, the senior cashier immediately told me I needed a receipt. I explained that I purchased the item this week using my Ace Hardware account and debit card and assumed my phone number could be used to look it up--something I've done at other stores, and what I thought was a benefit of having an account. Instead, she repeated "you need a receipt" and took the item without further explanation. I even reminded her that she had helped me find the item earlier that week and asked if she could look up the purchase. Still, no clarification--just the same phrase, again. While this was happening, I noticed a young man in an Ace shirt standing silently about five feet away from me, staring. When I asked what his issue was, the cashier told me to "not worry about him." Frankly, that made me more uncomfortable. Still confused whether the return was going through or being denied, I calmly asked what was happening. She raised her voice and said, "I'm returning your item." I asked if she found it on my account, and she replied, "You should have had [a receipt], but I'm just returning it." She then struggled to find the posted return policy sign--which was supposedly under the glass at the counter, behind a push cart--and couldn't locate it. I simply noted that if she couldn't find it, customers likely wouldn't see it either. We finished the return, I thanked her, and mentioned I didn't plan to come back after that experience. Her response: "I'm not talking to you anymore." As I left, the same young man followed me outside. While I was in my car, I saw him still watching me from the entrance. I cracked my door and asked if there was still a problem. He said, "I'm just doing my job." I asked, "What, security?" and shut my door. A moment later, I watched him pull out what looked like a Milwaukee Fastback knife and start poking at a pallet. Completely bizarre. This whole experience left me in shock. I've had great conversations with some of the employees here in the past, but today exposed an attitude problem that can't be ignored. I expected more from a store I've supported for over a decade. Now I understand why more and more people are turning to big box stores--at least there, basic customer service is consistent and respectful. Very disappointed.

A little while ago I had went there and I have tried to make a review several different times this company seems to keep erasing it the salesperson was very pushy I told them that day I had no interest in buying a mattress right then and there I wanted to look at a couple other places they're like oh you got to do it now you got to do it now you got to do it now you got to do it now. I said I still want to look at other options I'm not even sure if this one's are comfortable I ended up getting the mattress home didn't even feel like it was the same one that I got at the store I've been very unhappy with the mattress that I got I feel like if you're going to get a mattress I would suggest looking at other places before coming here. I'm actually surprised by the negative reviews, as from the moment we walked in, our salesman Steve struck the perfect balance between offering advice and allowing us to make our own decisions. He was extremely knowledgeable, answered all our questions, volunteered some important information we didn't think to ask about, but was never remotely pushy. He encouraged us to feel at home and take as long as we needed. He had us try out their most expensive, fancy bed so we could compare to what a top of the line mattress would be. We spent hours trying out different mattresses, comparing prices and asking questions. We decided on a bed and he helped us with financing, which went extremely smoothly, and we set up delivery for that following Saturday. Our delivery appointment was set up for between noon and 3, but they showed up early, around 1030, which was fine by us. Their delivery guys were very friendly, worked fast and efficiently, got our bed all set up and were on their way quickly. Our bed was priced at a comparable, reasonable price for anyone buying a king sized, name brand bed. We went with a Tempurpedic mattress with an adjustable base and it's been great. In the couple weeks I've had it, I've actually been completely pain free for the first time in a while. I'd recommend this location to anyone!

My favorite time to shop is pre holidays, and Halloween/Fall will hit the shelves late June or early July! Don't wait when you find a treasure you want to take home, chances are it won't be there if you leave it behind. Especially Holiday items! I'm still pondering the Martha Stewart Rose stool, telling myself I don't need it! Most items are reasonably priced or comparably lower. Lines can be long but there check out system moves along quickly! Very pleasant and helpful employees at checkout! With so many Home Decor stores closing their doors for good, I will continue to show up and shop in person!
