Friday I ordered a sink from bed bath and beyond. After a couple hours I had to cancel it because it was too big for the vanity. When I called they said it was too late, the order had been sent to the warehouse. I said we'll call and tell them to stop shipment. 'I'll try but if you receive it call us back and we will send a return label.' Return shipping at my expense! Monday I get an email telling me my package had shipped! So now I get to pay to send back the cancelled product that they sent me. Talk about wasteful! I'll never do business with them again. read more

I love bed bath and beyond but this particular store has perhaps the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I am absolutely appalled. I am sad to say this is my first negative review. I called this store to speak with an associate regarding my wedding registry. The first woman to answer said "who are you holding for?" Before I could answer, she hung up. On my second call, a male answered and asked again, who I was holding for. Not knowing what to say, I answered that I only needed to talk to an associate. With the most rude and condescending demeanor, this man demanded I tell him who I'd like to speak with. Before I could answer - he slammed the phone to hang up on me. My Fiance, who was on the call with me, and I were astonished at how disrespectful the "store associate"s were to us when we called to ask a simple question. This store is lacking in its ability to provide thoughtful and considerate customer service. Please be aware, the ability to be kind and courteous is absent in those who man the customer helpline. I truly wonder if the store's manager is aware of this. read more

This store has the most unfair return policy and also terrible customer service. If you want to exchange an item that you don't need from this store, you must have a receipt. So, any brand new unused gift ( hello holidays) obviously from this store cannot be exchanged. How many thousands of those will wind up in the landfill next week?!?! I am not feeling like this place as the best value, even with the 20% coupons, anymore. Pretty cluttered, not much room to move around and not a good selection in the window treatments section. We did find some cool items that were great ideas for organizing but was a little disappointed that the promotional email I received touted '50%' off sales and I didn't find any great sales. Crap Crap and Beyond is now what I call this place to my partner and he knows exactly what I'm talking about. I have gone here at least 7 times, each time with a very particular aim. E.g. broom, microplane, mini bread pans, cookie cutter rounds, oven thermometer, cookie sheet, etc. These are not speciality items here, folks. In fact, I know. How dare I expect to find things? Because, you know, what I need is for BEDS, BATHS, and KITCHENS. I've found more stuff I needed at nearby Hillers (a --grocery store-- for heaven's sake) than here. Speaking of which. Awful selection for anything kitchen. And horribly overpriced for everything else. Hangers? A broom? A shower curtain? Sure! Why not shell out a week's paycheck? You'll need their 20% off coupons just to pay a 'normal' price. The clerks are pretty removed from... everything. The whole interior feels cold and mechanical. Thanks to my divorce from Bed Bath & Beyond (and let's face it, it was a forced marriage of convenience because of proximity to home), I have become a much happier baker. No longer do my rose-cardamom almond cookies have the added flavoring of bitterness or spite. No longer are my hand apple-pies filled with frustration and resentment. I'm free. I don't review a lot of national chains, but I have to give credit where credit is due. I was given a set of bed sheets as a gift from here, and they didn't fit my bed. Despite the fact that I didn't have the receipt OR the packaging, the staff was incredibly helpful, polite and gave me no hassle whatsoever about exchanging them for a different set. I can't give them more than 3 stars because it always smells like a Yankee Candle Shop exploded in there, but I appreciate the great customer service. read more

Without a doubt the most ineffective management team I've had the displeasure to witness. I'm a disabled American. Standing long periods is extremely painful. I started by asking an associate for help in housewares. The response was that that particular associate wasn't knowledgeable in that area. Ok. They offered to find help. Perfect. Until they left me standing in the middle of an aisle to go help someone else... Without calling someone. In housewares, where I'd just been told they weren't knowledgeable. Hmm. Ok. So I waited a solid 10 minutes before I asked to speak with a manager. A manager was right there. Talked into their radio. By now I was about 20 min in the store and my disability was really kicking in. But I waited patiently for another 10 min. 30 min total if you're keeping score. When I went to the 'customer service' desk I will admit that I was a wee tense at this point. I went up front for the third time. Circa 40 minutes into my experience. Now i am visibly disabled and was definitely hurting. Finally a manager appears. They'd been busy before, but now were ready. I repeated my experience to them.... The response was a bit lacking. They apologized 5 or 6 times. Meanwhile, I'm sliding toward the floor. Was i offered a chair? No. Was i offered help with my original query? No. Was i offered a simple 'are you ok?' No I'm in the midst of completely fitting out a new apartment. I've easily spent a couple months' rent in the store within the past 10 days. When confronted with that? Another apology. Seriously, I've been in sales for decades. I'd be appalled if someone on my team treated someone like this. Disabled or not. End of experience, the manager shrugged. So there it is. I'll certainly take my business elsewhere. As an aside, they now offer a club where for a 30$ fee, you will get 20% off almost everything everyday. So no more coupon. It's definitely worth the 30$. But what does that say about Bed Bath and Beyond? Suddenly everything is cheaper or they've taking advantage of their customers all these years? I don't know. Seems a bit slippery. read more

Went here to register for our wedding. What a nightmare! We just wanted to register for a few things and we knew exactly what we wanted. However, we were told we could not register for our wedding without an appointment and were told to come back the next day. When we came back a store employee spent at least 45 minutes trying to sell us on things that we didn't want or need despite explaining that we are merging households. I was incredibly miserable and unhappy during the whole experience. When we went to use gift cards, there are so many stipulations on the coupons and they couldn't find what was left on our registry. Also, coupons can't be used on online purchases. Thankfully we are done redeeming gift cards and we no longer have to deal with BBB. To those registering- I don't recommend coming here unless you are looking for a sales pitch and want to be followed around while registering! I like nice things and I like bargains. Call me a barganista, not El Cheapo! Today's visit was to check out bath towels, coffee makers and whatever catches the fancy. This store has everything one could need for the bath, the kitchen, the bedroom, personal care, decor and furry friend items. Armed with a 20% off the entire order coupon my purchase ended up $100. A saving of $35. Oh and the coupon had expired in June of 2011. The clerk did not blink, just rang up the order and said thank you with a smile. Can't beat that. My fiancé and I just completed our registry appointment at this location. It was so fun to have our appointment here. The employees are so helpful and my fiancé didn't even mind being in the store for 4 hours. Amazing! The registry process is very overwhelming but this store made it a breeze. The store was clean, easy to navigate, and the products are high-quality. I will definitely shop here again and I am proud that my wedding guests will be able to shop here as well. read more

Bed Bath & Beyond is the quintessential wedding registry store. They have almost everything you think you could potentially want for your home, and a lot of things you think you need but will instead just clutter up your closets. It's a horrible store if you're trying to get in and out quickly because there is barely any room to move around. As someone else mentioned, the aisles are so tight when someone in front of you stops you're required to stop too. Just found out that out of state college kids can do a college registry or a shop local and pick up at college location. My daughter is attending Arizona State University so we were able to pick all of her things at our local Ann Arbor BBB and we will pick it up in Tempe, Arizona. Genius! They made it so easy; starting by printing the stuff to bring list directly from the ASU website. We went through the list and scanned all the items. The associate then sends the list to the Tempe store and they pull the items and store them for us until we pick them up. read more

I never shop here for my day to day stuff, It just never comes to mind. Saying that it was time for wedding registry and we were told to hit three places, and this was one of the requested by his side of the family. I was worried because of how often you find them pushing themselves at bridal shows but my experience here was better than at Macy's and Williams & Sonoma Combined! We were personally shown through the store and assisted in each department by a WONDERFUL chick who is enthused about her job and was just beyond helpful. It was fun, I can not say that about the other two places we registered. She made it effortless to pick what we wanted when presented with an endless towels to chose from and not even giving us a chance to consider becoming overwhelmed. She was friendly, perky, helpful and gave us a chance to do our own thing after giving basic recommendations. I would highly recommend them for doing a wedding registry! read more

Speaking of places that have lost their former luster... I used to find all kinds of good stuff at BB&B. Then I bought a set of sheets, not marked IRR -- but there was a huge flaw in the middle. OK, stuff happens, I took it back. The indifference of the clerks was so massive--"If you have a complaint," they said, "call this 800 number." Yeah, right, I love to wait on hold to give you feedback. Forget it, I bought similar sheets at K-Mart for 35% of the price and they are just fine. Went to BBB for the first time in a long time. I scored a couple of good deals over on the clearance rack. I got a calendar for 50% off as well as a new clock/radio/alarm for $20.The clock was a demo and everything was there in the box. I was pretty pleased with what I got. I love going to "Bed Bath & Beyond" because it is near my house and has a lot of good quality goods under the same roof . Specially for traveling I always buy things from there . They do have huge free parking lot and the store share the big shopping complex with other good and very best stores such as DSW wear House, Nordstrom Rack, kroger grocery shop,Old Navy,Ulta, Michaels, Marshall's etc.So yes it is a place where you get a lot of options. And the products from this shop is very good in quality. I have used few many and so far my experience is very satisfactory. However the service you get from the shop sucks . I never ever get an employee who is willing to show me something I want. If by chance I get someone to show me some thing or ask some question I got the feeling that I am disturbing them . Never saw a smile on their face nor an excitement that they are happy to help me . I noticed this every time I went there . Last time during Christmas there were many people and the holiday rush was there so I felt may be this service is accepted in this busiest holiday season . But I was there yesterday and the store was not that busy , I saw at least 6 employees walking around but never bothered to ask if I need anything . Lastly I asked one person and I felt that I was disturbing him . This kind of service is not acceptable at all at anytime , this is why I am giving three stars. read more

Great selection of merchandise, but unless you catch a sale or have a coupon, the prices are not what I'd call cheap. That's not horrible when you are looking for something of a specific quality or functionality. Sometimes what I want isn't cheap, and I don't want to sacrifice or settle for something less. They do have some good sales, and usually there's a coupon circulating somewhere. They also carry some stuff that is featured on Shopping Channels on TV. I do shop here frequently, and they're my go-to, first stop for cookware and small appliances. So at this point you're asking, hey Jim, if they're that good, what's with just 3-stars? Arborites, with Arboritis, is the answer. Snooty sales staff, snooty cashiers: just generally an air of disdain for the consumer. I've had decent help with some purchases, but the snub is the norm. Stop in and get what you need, but don't expect them to be happy about it! read more
