This is a great local dive for small groups of less than 6 people. I took a group of 18 folks to dinner here and we waited an hour for our appetizers. Not cool. We were visiting Cleveland from CA and looking for a sports bar to watch the NBA playoff game and get dinner. Oh, add that I'm a vegetarian, and there's our world. Well, we loved this place. We walked from our hotel. The staff was so friendly, the food was yummy, and there were several vegetarian options. It was a little awkward at first; we didn't know if it was open seating or not, but the super friendly bartender explained to order at the bar, sit anywhere, and just relax, so we did. Tiffany J with the blue hair took my order along with my cash payment and told me it would be 25-30 minutes for my food to arrive. I took a seat in her eyeshot making eye contact with her several times. After about an hour I saw customers who had come in after me who had sat at the bar getting bags of food to go. I approached the gentleman who handed them their bags and inquired about the status of my order. He replied " it's probably at the bar" and there it was. Why wouldn't Tiffany tell me when my food had arrive? Why wouldn't she tell me that I had to come up to the bar to keep checking to see if it was there? We made eye contact several times during that hour and she never said anything. Today was my 3rd trip to your restaurant within a week. I came with friends on Saturday and someone ordered onion rings that I tasted. They were so tasty I came back on Sunday with my family but you were out of onion rings. I thought the 3rd time would be the charm so I tried calling in my order this evening since I am coming from Strongsville but I got a recording saying no phone orders. I make the 30 minute drive for the 3rd time in a week just to receive terrible to go service. My food had sat there long enough to get cold. My onion rings that I had craved all week were limp and disappointing. Since Covid-19 to go order service is often so horrible that I save leaving a tip until after I confirm that my order is correct. Tiffany I had every intention on leaving you a tip I just prefer to wait until the end to better determine what is deserved. Don't expect to find anything Art Deco, modernista, or couture. This is a dive bar. And, it's one of the best in Cleveland, if not the world. The kitchen is open late, there are specials every night of the week, and the few taps circulate once in a blue moon. Becky's is "definitely awesome." Becky's is an awesome dive bar just a few blocks off of Playhouse Square. As the kind police officer at the gas station informed me when I tried to buy beer after 1 a.m., Becky's is the only place in town that has a liquor license to sell after the 1 a.m. curfew. My friend and I went to Becky's around 1:15, after having performed that night. The bartender persuaded us not to buy their expensive takeout beer and instead hooked us up with some free beers and cheap shots. We were served extremely well by the kind lady behind the bar, caroused with the friendly locals despite being from out of town, and even got a couple free car bombs from a kind gentleman at the bar. I use Becky's as a yardstick for other bars. It's predictable, comfortable, and familiar, but without being too dull. The food is surprisingly good, and actually fresh, which is a rarity when it comes to bars. For a while about a year ago, the quality was so-so at best, but it's gotten much better. I mostly go veg when I'm there, but one evening I decided to go after a steak instead, and found that they're surprisingly worthwhile. They don't smother it in seasonings, and whoever's running the grill knows what he or she is doing. Want a Pabst? They've got that. Want a craft beer? Ditto. Want to go write on the bathroom walls? They're apparently pretty OK with that, given that there's what amounts to conversations in Sharpie going on in the men's room. read more

As a downtown resident and a student nearby, Becky's is a breath of fresh air amongst many of the other superficial and overpriced bars downtown. It's atmosphere and patronage are real and down-to-earth. $2 PBRs. $1 off pitchers if you're a student (higher education has its perks). And food food served til close; none of that "kitchen closes at 10pm" B.S. Speaking of the food, I think it's some of the most underrated food in Cleveland. My friends all really enjoy the food there, and their menu is pretty big for a dive bar. I can't get past their wings though. Something about wings at a dive bar - its nostalgic like mom's crusted PB&J. And guess what (literally)... they have trivia on Thursday nights. I have been to Becky"s more than 10 times and I will have to rate this bar a 2/10 and a one star on here. First off the prices are pricey and the quality of the food is not worth the price. The wings have no meat, the sandwiches are small and the burgers are never cooked the way you asked for them. (Not hard to cook a medium-rare burger) Second the bar staff is weak, I have waited about 40 minutes for my meal every-time I have gone. (I work a block away and this is the closest bar/restaurant to eat at) My last meal was a chicken salad club, I waited over 45 minutes....they seem to care more about takeout than their actual customers at the bar. my coworkers come here ALL THE TIME, it is the go-to place for work lunches with a bunch of people. It's also the go-to place for happy hour with coworkers. They have drinks named after some of my coworkers. I'm not over-the-top for anything on their menu. Good place to eat, standard bar-food options. I've never had a gross meal there. Bathrooms are fine, staff is consistent. I had really slow service the last time I was there, and I knew something was up bc it's never like that. When we checked out, the waitress was really apologetic, someone hadn't shown up for their shift. In the meantime, the bartender had gone WAY out of her way to come refill our beverages. I know it's a CSU bar, and it's probably fun for drinking, but it's a solid option for lunch or dinner too. Options for vegetarians and omnivores alike. Point of interest: brethalyzer machine on the wall, I think it costs a dollar, uses your own straw. I would try it if I ever had alcohol while I was there. read more

Every year my work throws a Christmas party and they love coming here for the after party. It has a little dance floor with a DJ on weekends, also boasts karaoke every other week. Free parking on the side, cheap booze, excellent tater tots AND if you check in on yelp you get a free coupon for free Labatt draft!!!! Now I like to come here after blowing a wad across the street at Hofbrahaus or if their lines are too long. This place is TOTES DIVEY so no need to dress to impress. Becky's, I haven't seen you since undergrad. (OY! I have realized this is now many moons ago...) Becky's pretty much is the same as it was in my undergrad years (I will refrain from saying how many years ago that was...) with minor differences. i.e The old pool table is now no longer in the front of the place, in fact, there is no pool table. I think the menu is the same as it was ahem years ago and the burgers are still yummy as well as the fries. Darts are in the back, as before, and so are the bathrooms. Careful to avoid the darts on your way to the john. Bartenders were cool. An A-OK in my book. And a heck of alot faster than the Hoffbrauhaus aross the street. read more

Holy moly!!! A neighborhood, non-showy, non-hipster, low-key bar that has a great offering of vegetarian food!!! Not only vegetarian in name, but the menu even says veggie items are cooked on a separate grill! And guess what: the veg options are really tasty!! I've been into Becky's several times since moving to the neighborhood and have had all very positive experiences for the most part. I was pleasantly surprised as to how good the food is - I've had the burger, wings, salad...all very good for bar food. Probably some of the best I've had in all of Cleveland for cheap bar food actually. The best part about this bar is the wide variety of people you will see here - from the college 21 year old white boy to the 65 year old city worker black woman - you will see all ranges of colors and ages which is cool to see. read more

I have been going to Becky's bar off and on for the past 25 years. The food and drinks are good but the service is a hit or miss. I stopped in last night on 10/8/22 just to get wings for takeout. I had never experienced such horrible service before last night. The first issue was they had only one bartender. He said that he was going in order serving, whatever that meant. He had a really nasty attitude towards me and for no reason. He purposely served everyone around me. He made me wait 35 minutes. By the time he did get to me he was very disrespectful. At that point I didn't want to order food anymore. I told him never mind I'll come back some other time. Oh, and good luck putting in a phone order. They almost never answer the phone. Becky's is definitely not what it use to be. They need better employees. It's still an okay place to eat and have drinks it's just that it's represented poorly by a few of the people that work there. Becky's has always been my favorite "dive" bar in CLE. Right on CSU campus, near Playhouse, Greyhound Depot, and Asiatown. you get a good mix of everyone. I've kicked off St Patty's parade there many times, enjoyed food after my night classes, and just stopped in because it's a cool neighborhood spot. I appreciate they have their own parking lot, a good selection of food (including vegetarian), and a rotating craft beer selection. My last visit was on Wednesday pm and we watched Cavs and World Series game. TV's are there if you want to watch but are not the focus. The patrons were mostly just drinking, eating, and socializing. The special was 6 wings and fries basket for $6 which was very good, they also had patty melt on sale and they were excellent. You may be surprised because if you drove by you wouldn't think, hey that's a cool place, but try it because it is. Well run, clean, safe, good food, drinks, and free parking. read more
