Today I had wings. Prior the chicken salad sandwich, the little Becky burger the big Becky burger I've had the tacos. I had a salad with the chicken salad on it. Everything is so fresh. They have a kitchen that is proud of their work. It's a big place with a storied history, back in the 80s this was the old exedra bar you can look it up. There is a reason that dance floor and the bar is shaped the way it is it's hilarious. I looked it up because I thought this was an old concert club and the bartender told me oh you looked it up and we were dying laughing. They have a free parking lot. It really helps a lot to drive business five stars for dive bars. This place is awesome.

Secondly, it was not busy at all, even right before a busy show. The bartender was very friendly and accommodated all of our requests. We split a salad and he even had it came out in two separate bowls, and allowed us each choose a different salad dressing. We also split a pizza which was excellent and came out very quickly. The bartender checked on us often and we made it to our show on time. The prices were much better than most restaurants in the area, as well. I can see why this restaurant gets 4.8 stars. I initially sat near the end by a column and figured the bartender might not notice me right away, but as a former bartender myself, I assumed he'd eventually make his way around the bar to check on guests. That never happened. After a couple of people left, I moved closer to the front of the bar near the entrance. A few more minutes passed before the bartender finally approached me. I had already grabbed my own menu from behind the bar area by that point. When I ordered, he asked if the food was "to go," which honestly made me feel like my sitting there during the game was more of an inconvenience than business. I ordered food and a drink. By the time my food came out, my drink was already about three-quarters gone, which would have been the perfect opportunity to check back in or offer another round. The food runner brought out my meal, but the bartender never checked on me once. I would have gladly ordered additional drinks, but I was never asked. Basic hospitality and bar service 101: check on your guests and keep the interaction going. I ate my food without so much as another drink to help wash it down. I closed out and left; there wasn't even a "thanks for coming in" or "have a good night." I ended up going elsewhere afterward to watch the 4th quarter, having a few more drinks, and receiving significantly better service. As someone who used to bartend, this experience was frustrating because good bar service is not complicated. A bartender who stays engaged with guests will naturally sell more drinks, create a better atmosphere, and earn better tips. I first visited in October 2023 with some friends after leaving the MIX event at the CMA (museum). Twist had a 2000's music theme that night. My friends and I had a fantastic time dancing the night away. Fast forward to a year later to Saturday, 31 August 2024 and I'm back at Twist again for their white party for the labour day holiday. The 2024 labour day holiday white party was fun. I arrived at 10pm with a friend and we met 3 other friends there. We danced to a live DJ who spun tunes all night; however, I will say that some of the music choices were not the best because they were not ideal for dancing. At around 11:30pm is when the dance floor begun to be crowded. So as midnight approached, it became a bit uncomfortable to remain on the small(ish) dance floor so I moved towards the back by the bar. Although I don't drink alcohol, moving away from the dance floor towards the front door entrance by the bar was a good choice for me because I didn't feel as claustrophobic as I did when I was on the cramped dance floor.
