Thuy the owner did my powder dip and gel pedi and I was very happy with my nails. I had a not so great experience with my last place and I showed her a picture of what I'd like my nails short and square-ish. My daughter went for a mani/pedi and said her massage part of the pedi was really great! her nails look great and she was very happy. We appreciate that it's close to home and how nice everyone was during our services. I looked at a ton of reviews of different places and I've lived in the area for awhile, been to a few nail salons in this area. Seen the ups and downs of some of what were my favorite places, making it hard when I felt it was time to move along. There was barely any gel to remove -- a simple hand file would've done the job without damaging my nails. Instead, the overuse of the bur left my nails feeling thin. The curing process was rushed too. She kept switching my hands mid-cycle before the polish could properly set. And the "massage"? It lasted as long as it takes me to put lotion on before work -- basically nonexistent. There was some miscommunication with my nail tech about the base color--she used a pink builder gel underneath, which affected the nude shade I wanted on top. I'm not really a pink person, and even though I tried to explain that, there was some confusion (language barrier can occasionally be an issue here). I ended up leaving with nails I wasn't happy with. That said--what really matters is how it was handled. I reached out to the owner, Miko, via Instagram, and she was incredibly kind, responsive, and accommodating. She apologized, invited me back, and offered to either change the color or redo the entire set if needed. We ultimately redid the full set, and I really appreciated how seriously she took my concerns and how smoothly everything was resolved. I've also been seeing Zaya for months now, and she does an absolutely gorgeous job every time--plus she's just the sweetest. Even with that one hiccup, I still highly recommend this place. However as a client, I cannot know what is happening in this business owners life, and it seems like the professional and respectful choice is to re-record your business voicemail telling people you are taking a break, so your clients don't continually waste their time. Now because of this intense and rude response years later, I stand by my one star review instead of changing it, because I do not believe the client is responsible for knowing what losses are going on in the owners life, nor do they deserve a mean retort years later for information they have no way to know. Her response was very unprofessional and as I had said before, I would've changed my review to a positive one and been a client again, but not after this exchange. My father passed away during this time period too, right before my wedding actually, and we're also currently in the middle of COVID where she has no idea who is currently sick or who I've lost in my life, so while it's true you don't know what's going on in someone's life, that doesn't give a business owner reason to shame a client for the owner not updating their business information and the client responding based on their current experience. This is not a personal relationship and it's unprofessional and unkind to shame a client when you also have no idea the circumstances in the other persons life. Very hypocritical. I hope she can proceed more professionally again in the future. She was very talented, but having drama with someone who is offering a service is not worth it to me as a client, just to have nice nails.
