Terrible experience with Becker Autosound. I sent my Becker 754 to them three times for Bluetooth/Aux mod, faceplate, and repair of distortion on the left channel. After the last "repair", the audio was still distorted. I emailed them the note you see below. They ignored me. After two weeks I called them and spoke with Ed. He told me to send the radio back and he would exchange it with another one. You'll see my letter of gratitude I enclosed with the radio below. Another two weeks later he sent my radio back to me with three scribbled Post-it notes claiming the radio was "altered" (it was... by HIM!), that he couldn't confirm my complaint, and that he was voiding my warrantee. All of this without explanation nor even the courtesy of a complete sentence. This odyssey has cost me hundreds and hundreds of dollars and has left me with a radio I can't use. Trusting Becker Autosound Cost Us $9000. A Six Month Saga. We bought a refurbished and upgraded PCM (stereo/ nav) from Becker Autosound to replace a unit that was showing signs of age. After installation we discovered that the Becker unit would not produce any sound. We contacted Becker and were connected with the person who had refurbished it, Tom. He blamed our installer. The installer took the vehicle back and attempted to fix but was unable to. I then brought the vehicle to a certified Porsche mechanic. He removed the unit, checked all the wiring and reinstalled. Still there was no sound. Upon bringing the vehicle home a new failure appeared. The left half of the screen went blank and what should have been displayed on the left side was now shown on the right. This impacted all functions; stereo, navigation, back up camera, etc. I reported this to Becker who took the unit back and spent a couple weeks evaluating it. The unit was refurbished again, which involved replacing a board or two. Once we received the unit back we had it installed again and the unit still would not produce sound. Becker took the unit back again, refurbished it a third time and charged the shop $800. Upon return the unit still did not work. Becker took the unit back and promised to expedite their evaluation. We heard nothing for weeks. Calls were not returned. Finally Tom called and said he could not repair the unit but would source another to refurbish as replacement. We waited several more weeks while they purchased and tested all the used units available on eBay. We were then told that Becker would not certify any of those units and would simply process a refund of our original purchase. With every eBay unit claimed by Becker our only option was to purchase a brand new unit direct from Porsche, fulfilled through Germany with a lead time of 2-12 months. Tom followed up repeatedly about refunding our purchase price while I took a couple of weeks to organize all the invoices. I sent them to Tom with a request that Becker cover four out of five of the installation costs incurred at Becker's direction. This still results in a $3600 loss for us. We are also left with an incomplete (not legally salable without backup camera) vehicle for up to 10 more months from the date of this review. I have followed up repeatedly over the last two months and seen no response and no refunds, even for the purchase price of the defective Becker Certified unit. I collect older European cars and have been a customer since the early 2000's having bought 5 or so Porsche/Becker and Continental radios from them and, recently, Bluetooth add on modules. Their products and service are excellent, I had one issue with a product and they sent a new one very quickly. Excellent product and good, helpful service in a niche corner of the car hobby. I explained to Raymond that the Mercedes ML350 radio was dead and had been unassembled, they said yes, they can fix it but will likely have to send to Germany. I was ok with that. I have the emails and phone records. This was April 2024- long story short- no details and the radio was returned July 31, 2024- it was not repaired- I seriously doubt it was sent to Germany. I called every few weeks and was given hogwash stories- like it's on it's way back, blah blah blah... a complete waste of my time-- I will be disputing the $224 dollars you charged for NOTHING! The service of this place is ok, everything worked after I got my radio shipped back (on time) from Tom. Two stars because the Bluetooth product I got is pretty underwhelming. If you are thinking about adding Bluetooth to your old Becker Radio, be warned that this is not up to 2020's standards - it's not like hooking up your iPhone to the bluetooth system in a rental car; it is obviously a hack but even the hack has it's flaws. Most annoying, whenever it connects to my iPhone it makes a popping sound, and depending on the volume of the radio it is usually is pretty loud, and not just unpleasant but also sound like it's really not great for your speakers. What's nerve wracking is that this popping sound comes pretty often: When connecting my phone, when disconnecting my phone (i.e. every time I leave the car), when switching apps on the phone, whenever a song/album/podcast is finished without another one being lined up, etc.-- so basically all the time. When I use google maps navigation through Bluetooth without playing music at the same time, the popping sound appears before and after every single instruction (!) -- so in order to not go insane, I can use google maps only while playing music at the same time. Maybe this has something to do with my car/radio, but I also didn't get a reply from BeckerAudio after emailing about the issues. Another thing is that the Bluetooth runs over the FM channel of the radio; it would have been much better to have it run through the AM channel, or even better, Becker Radio has a separate CD/AUX button (which really no one uses unless you still have your 5-disc-changer in the trunk). Now, if you want to listen to radio, you need to have Bluetooth turned off on your phone first (the radio will respond with a popping sound), but also everyone else in the car needs to turn it off too (!) And whenever a new person with a phone in the pocket steps in the car the radio will go silent again, because it has again automatically connected to that person's phone. Again, not up to standards. You might want to consider the AUX cable over the Bluetooth to not make life more complicated. read more

My Porsche Cayenne Turbo PCM Navigation unit was completely unresponsive. Technician/Owner Tom told me exactly what was needed, with cost. I wanted to retain the OEM Factory look, so keeping the original unit was imperative. In a week, Becker Autosound completely restored function of my radio and navigation unit, including a new screen display, buttons and I just cannot be happier. The only minor "gripe" is the in-dash, directional Compass is no longer displayed.... but the fix is a $350 Porsche dealer re-coding of the rebuilt radio with my car once again. No thanks. As long as the radio, SAT NAV and Satellite Radio functions...I'm happy! read more

If you've got a restoration project on a European vehicle and you want to get OEM or upgraded equipment you're at the mercy of these guys. APPROACH WITH CAUTION! I've called these guys twice and both times they were pretty rude, cutting me off when I tried to explain my project or ask about a particular item. The person that was on the phone with me even had a side conversation with another employee and called a customer a moron. This company offeres a service to modify their stereo systems to put an AUX input into it. They neglect to inform you that it is a MONO input. In my mind auxilliary inputs are stereo and have been since the late 60's even before solid state electronics was commonplace. They claim it is because the deck is limited to digital. this is complete nonsense. the company is fraudulent IMHO. read more

I wish I'd read these other reviews before I dealt with Becker. I'd recommend avoiding them unless you have absolutely no other choice. I bought a refurbished stereo from them to put in my old Mercedes diesel. When it arrived, it was not working properly -- the sound only came out of one channel and the tape playback was wonky. I called them, talked to Ed, and he said to mail it to them. I did, at my own expense. A couple weeks later I got it back and re-installed it. It was better, but the sound would periodically cut out in the same channel, and the tape playback was still screwy. I called, and Ed just said "mail it back" without any apology or admission of their mistake. I reluctantly mailed it, again at my own expense. When it came back, it had the same problem. I complained to Ed via email and all he would say was to mail it back (yet again). I pointed out that 1. they sent me a bad unit in the first place, 2. I had to mail it back to them *twice* at my own expense, and now he was asking me to do it a third time, and 3. he didn't make any apologies or concessions after having obviously made a mistake. He didn't reply to that email or to another followup email that I sent. Terrible experience, terrible customer service. I'm going to have it fixed locally just so I don't have to deal with them again. read more

I had them repair my 1997 MB stereo, and they did everything as expected without any issues. The place is conveniently located but a tad messy - clearly they do repair work and not office cleaning. The price was reasonable compared to what the MB dealer quoted. They do seem quite busy and things can take some time - I was in no hurry. They seem honest and forthright to me. read more

The audio output of the Bose stereo system in my Porsche Cayenne stopped working. Contacted Becker Autosound and they were very helpful in explaining the possible issues, options and pricing to test and repair/replace the faulty components. Shipped them back both the Bose stereo and Amp. The problem was with the Amp. They fixed it and shipped it back out right away. They were great to work with.
