    INIC Preschool & Daycare

    (14 reviews)

THANK GOODNESS FOR INIC! I'm so so glad we didn't settle…read more Like many new parents, we were realy struggling to get daycare. We got on daycare waiting lists while we were still pregnant. Some were for when she was older (and didn't take under 12 months, 18 months, things like that). We had one that we thought was perfect - they estimated a spot when she was 6-8 months old. A few months later, they call and say it'll be closer to 18 months. Um.... what? So frustrating. So, we were off to find daycare for our little one. If you're reading this, you probably know that looking for daycare once you need is a fool's errand. All the places that we found that had spots available immediatley or in a few months were, to put it nicely, not good. It seemed clear why those spots were open, if that makes sense. So, when I heard INIC up in Round Rock had spots, I was skeptical. Then, I discovered that they were a new school with a lot of capacity which explained the openings. As soon as we walked in, it felt like a good fit. Now that we've been there for a month, I can happily recommend INIC! In fact, that one that esimated 18 months called us with an open spot (much closer to us than INIC) and we happily declined. STAFF It's only been a month but staff has been consistent. Even though it's a big school, the staff know us when we arrive. Everytime I check-in on our little on on the cameras, I see the teachers either working hard getting stuff ready, dancing/singing as they do their work, or playing with the littles. Folks always seem to be smiling and I've never seen anyone ignoring kiddos or hanging on their phones. They genuinely seem to like my little one. They get excited when I tell them about a new milestone/skill we've seen. Everyone is super communicative and I get tons of updates throughout the day. CLASS SIZE Right now, since they're filling up classes, my little one is usally with just two other kiddos with one or two teachers. I don't expect that to stay that way as the school grows but it's been nice to have the individual attention. CURRICULUM My little one is only 10 months old so, yeah, there's a 'curriculum' but I'm not particulary concerned with it. I just like that she's getting exposure to Spanish, is around people who seem to care about her, and gets to learn from other kiddos. One thing to know is that the whole classroom naps at the same time (times based on age). So, for example, my 10-month old is in an infant room where naps are 10-11:30 and 2-3:30. I was concerned that'd be too much sleep for her but she never sleeps the full time. How much she sleeps and when exactly she sleeps varies quite a bit but I guess kids will be kids. One of daughter's favorite activities is going on the daily walks when weather permits. LOCATION For us, the location is not convenient b/c we live in East Austin and have to drive about 30 minutes BUT, if you're closer, I think the area around makes it a nice location. There are lots of grocery stores, fitness classes, cafes and such that might pair well with your daily drop-off or pick-up routine. The parking lot and drop-off/pick-up area is simple (unlike some other places I toured). SCHEDULE / PRICE While the rate for care is around the same as lots of other places I toured BUT they're closed less often on just random days (for example, one daycare was closed 3.5 weeks in Dec/Jan, another 2 random weeks in the middle of the summer, and a bunch of 'teacher learning days' spread throughout the year). They basically follow the Round Rock ISD calendar but are open through the summer as well. FACILITITES I don't have any great photos because I obviously don't want to post pictures of children but I can say the building feels fresh, spacious, clean, organized, and has tons of cool features like a little gym, a little reading room, and more.

The infant room was very well staffed and had a calm, nurturing environment. The teachers there…read morewere kind, attentive, and consistent about updating daily events and activities, which we truly appreciated. Unfortunately, our experience in the toddler room was very different. The front entrance door that uses a key code did not always close and lock properly, and the toddler gate leading to the right hallway did not lock securely, which raised safety concerns. A lot of times at pick up that hallway also smelled like a trash bag of poop was stored somewhere. Many toys were kept on high shelves and out of reach, leading children to climb on the shelf in order to access them. During transitions and diaper changes, children were often left without activities, resulting in restlessness and pacing. Cleanup also fell almost entirely on the teachers, as children were not taught or encouraged to help put toys away, which appeared to limit the teachers' ability to support children who were struggling emotionally. Communication was also difficult. At pickup, teachers were understandably busy managing multiple children, but there was little insight into how my daughter's day had gone. Messages sent through the app often had delayed responses. There was also a required supply list that included items such as a water paint kit, colored pencils, a paint apron, and crayons, but these supplies were never used in the classroom. My 2.5-year-old thrives in a structured environment. In this classroom, much of the day was unstructured free play, and she struggled significantly. During her final full week, she spent most of each day sitting and crying. She appeared overwhelmed, isolated, and unable to engage. On three consecutive days, photos shared as "gym activities" showed children sitting against a wall watching the teacher, whereas earlier in her enrollment gym time involved active movement and play. That earlier structure had been far more appropriate for her needs. While the staff were kind, the lack of structure and engagement negatively affected my child's well-being and ultimately led us to seek a different environment. Although another classroom was offered, seeing her cry consistently on the camera and struggle at drop-off made it difficult to continue.

Best Montessori School around!…read more Where do I begin? The staff here are some of the sweetest and friendliest people I have ever met. They go above and beyond to involve our children in everything and are so patient with them. My son was in Ms. Jerical's class last year with Ms. Gabi, Ms. Becca, and on e more assistant. He raved about them and spoke about them everyday when he came home. He had nothing but great stories to tell. His younger brother took his spot this year and was beyond thrilled to be a part of the Marimont Montessori family. Ms. Rachel the owner, and her husband, run an amazing, clean business and are also so friendly. They always return our calls and emails right away. They have chickens and other farm animals, the children learn to garden, and there is ample outdoor time, which they believe is so important and so do I. I have so many great things I can't fit them all. Stop looking around and have your children go here, you won't be disappointed and your children will THRIVE! We love everyone here. Thank you so much for helping my children grow and be the best they can be!

Between two children and a cross-country move, we have experienced more than our share of daycares -- easily a half-dozen over the past decade. This one stands out as being the best by a long shot. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but this facility is a hidden gem. My only regret is that we didn't find it sooner. I think the best way to sum up my feelings is that every time I dropped off my child here, I felt such joy -- joy at seeing the directors Rachel and James running a caring-centered facility, joy at seeing the teachers empathetically interacting with children, joy at seeing the kids working independently at lessons that ranged from feeding farm animals on site, working in the gardens or enjoying a variety of lessons inside the classroom. As opposed to stricter Montessori environments I had experienced, where parents were discouraged from participating, we were welcomed here for monthly poetry recitals, Bubbles & Books and more. I loved the random events that inspired creativity, such as Dress Like a Composer Day or Chordate Day. We also participated in extracurriculars such as cooking class. I knew my child was always cared for and would experience a love of learning at this facility. We couldn't have asked for a better start, and how much I miss it now that this chapter is behind us.

All our worries and concerns completely disappeared once we came across Learning House Preschool (LHP) in Round Rock at the referral of a coworker's family. Miss Reena has a 25 year experience in taking care of children from infancy through the pre-school years, and it shows. From our very first interaction we felt safe in the knowledge that our daughter will be in good hands in a healthy, safe, and structured environment conducive to learning and development, not just a "parking lot" for babies during the workday. We were given an after-hours, thorough tour of the facilities prior to enrolling, and we were impressed by the meticulous care with which everything is done, from the Montessori/Phonics methods of learning for all children, to the great variety of play/learning stations, the various activities offered, and the seemingly odd conviction (from a business perspective) to choose a smaller number of children receiving exceptional care and education over a larger number of children without this personalized attention. We have seen enormous changes in our daughter's development in less than two months, with much greater independence in play, improved confidence in exploring the world around her under supervision, as well as practical improvements such as sleep and eating, and we can directly attribute every single improvement to the tireless work of Miss Reena. Although there are no "fancy" offerings such as video surveillance and smartphone apps, parents of both infants and toddlers have open lines of communication in realtime via WhatsApp channels, and a daily personalized report during drop-off and pick-up to address any issues/concerns and offer invaluable advice on everything childcare-related. We have seen from other parents that they completely trust LHP with their children for all their formative toddlerhood and preschool years, and although our daughter is not old enough for the complete learning experience yet, we can definitely understand the strong bond parents and babies feel to LHP. Honesty, transparency, constant feedback, and an overall safe and loving environment made LHP the right choice for us, and we are looking forward to the next months and years of seeing our baby growing, socializing, learning, and getting ready for school!

Since our son has been enrolled, we have noticed a huge difference in his vocabulary. He is so talkative and expressive, and I believe that LHP has had a huge influence on that. It can be stressful to find a childcare provider that you feel comfortable with and trust leaving your child with, I can say that while our son is at LHP, I know he is cared for and learning! We sadly are switching schools because of the commute. If it not for the commute, we would stay for sure. We will miss LHP and thank Reena and her staff for caring for our son so deeply.

The facility is immaculately clean, well-organized, and filled with new educational curriculum weekly. But what sets The Goddard School apart is the love, care, and dedication of the staff. As a first-time mom, I was anxious about leaving my son in someone else's care, but from the very first day, Mrs. Brianna, Ms. Krystin, and Ms. Paige put my mind at ease. They kept me informed about my son's daily activities, meals, and milestones, which helped me feel connected to his life even when I was not there. They even caught developmental delays that needed to be escalated to the pediatrician, to which my son received speech and physical therapy. Every morning we are greeted with a warm welcome from Mrs. Sara and my son will eagerly reach out to get carried by his favorite support staff member, Ms. Paula. When my son moved up to the next class, I thought surely the staff would not continue to be able to care for my son as if he was their own, but Mrs. Ashley, and Ms. Lizvette continue to exercise their patience and unwavering kindness with my handful of a toddler. If you're a parent searching for a trustworthy, loving, and stimulating environment for your child, look no further than The Goddard School. I highly recommend this incredible daycare to anyone seeking a haven for their little ones and a sense of comfort while they're working.

At first I saw it as normal toddler boy stuff, playing hard in all but it escalated quickly. I came to pick up my son one day, he had a large scratch on his neck. I asked the teacher what happened and she said he fell on the rocks while at the playground which didn't make sense to me. The next morning I asked the lady up front if she could find out what happened for me and she said she would. When I arrived for pick up that day the lady I asked that morning said she didn't find out what happened then turned to the lady who seemed really confused about what I was asking and asked if she saw what happened (she wasn't even on the playground where it took place) she stuttered and eventually told me that he had done it to himself which I knew wasn't true because my son never did anything like that before. (Still has not to this day) I decided that day to start really taking note of any marks or incidents. He began to refuse school which he used to always be excited for which I thought was odd but people would tell me it's normal. The following week a child attacked my son scratching him all over his face and arms. Nobody seemed to really know what happened, the child was suspended. As soon as the child returned 5 days later he attacked my son again, biting him in the face, I was not notified until his teacher showed up later in the day and once again no one seemed to know what happened and there were conflicting stories. That day I decided we would not be returning in the best interest of my child's safety and mental wellbeing. Be wary of this place. Very sad and disappointed it turned out the way it did.

Our daughter improved so much within a short period of time and it was measurable. We have been super impressed with the teachers and the higher level of academics. Kids at Challenger School are a year or more ahead of their peers who attend highly rated public schools. While the curriculum is excellent, what we love the most about Challenger School is how much our daughter's personality has blossomed. She has become more self-confident and independent. She was super shy and had major separation anxiety issues. Now she engages everyone in conversation, and she happily participates in school performances, speaking and singing in front of a crowd of her peers, teachers and other parents. We are super proud of her progress and achievements! Challenger School is costly, but worth every single penny! However, it may not be for everyone. It is a very structured environment. You won't find any hand-holding or coddling, as they strongly encourage independence and independent thinking. They teach every student about personal responsibility. It is the student's responsibility to make sure their homework is done on a daily basis and brought to the school, and they actually want the students to do their homework on their own. It sounds crazy, but my daughter truly loves doing her homework! We consider ourselves blessed that our daughter attends Challenger School. We couldn't be happier with the school and the teachers.
