Great bunch of friendly guys - gave us helpful advice and worked hard to get us on the river quickly.

Okay this rental shop is pretty basic in terms of amenities. There's a toilet with no running…read morewater, but that's about it. There's no shop selling water or anything, so definitely bring your own cooler or water. However, I picked this place as I was trying to find a canoe/kayak rental close to the cabins. They only offer one route, and it takes about one hour if you paddle the whole way through. Or you're like me and want to enjoy the peaceful ride. They did mention to bring the canoe/kayak back within 2 hours, but I believe they don't really keep track (just use common sense). They offer single/double kayak and canoe rental. I opted for the canoe as it's a tad larger than the kayaks. The way it works is you check in and pay for the rental, and then you wait for them to take you to the start of the route. The rental is the end of the route. You'll be asked to get a life jacket (they're all kinda moldy, so just pick any). The river doesn't really get that deep, and in fact, some are below knee height, but safety first. After that, they'll call your name once your ride is there. There's no waiting area, so if you go on a summer day, just be prepared to get a little sun. I can't remember how long I waited but it's probably between 30-45 min. Once you get to the start, they'll bring your rental onto the river. That's your cue to take the paddle and get on the rental. They'll push you to the river and you're off to your adventure! Even on a hot summer day, the river stays very cool, and you can get to the shallows and get off your rental for a bit (just don't let it float back on its own). When you get to the end, just paddle towards the rental shop, and they'll help you transition to land. To sum up, it's a good spot to rent kayak/canoe within the park. No showers or anything, but there's some swimming holes nearby that have showers. Equipments can be better maintained, but for the price, it's really good!

Had breathtaking views on the river. Great customer service, smooth transition from land to where…read morewe depart.

These tours are self guided on class 1 & 2 rapids and the video prior to leaving is very informative. You have two choices for the trip canoe or kayak. I have done both and the kayak is a much better choice. The trip can last anywhere from four to six hours depending on how many people you go with or how often you stop. They have two rope swings so you can try you luck jumping off some trees. The sights are amazing and I always wished I had a waterproof camera. My trips have normally been late September or early October. The September trips are normally much better and the water isn't ball freezing cold. There is a point midway where you try to navigate a small drop and you can watch numerous people capsize their kayak or canoe. This has to be one of my favorite trips that combine beautiful scenery and time in the water. The area has many areas to either camp or even RV spaces close to the water. This place is tons of fun and I can't wait for next year.

This is not how you run a business! I should have been given more notice so I could make other plans. I now have to try to find something else with such short notice. They completely failed me and I would not recommend them to anyone. Don't let them ruin your vacation. There are plenty of other options for kayak rentals in this area!

All of them had GoPro mounts stuck to the front of them already, which was nice. The kayaks tracked pretty well and were easy to maneuver. There was an area on the back of the kayak that you could attach a dry bag or cooler to, but make sure you bring your own bungee cord for it. We brought our own life jackets and were glad we did because the ones they had were the basic orange ones that go around your neck. Also, it is $10 to rent a life jacket. This was our first time ever attempting to kayak a river and there were more rapids than we expected but it was exciting. There were a couple of sketchy rapid areas that we saw people getting out and walking past but we attempted it anyway. The waterfall was fun! The river was scenic and we enjoyed kayaking past the rocks and the cypress trees. You park at the office and they take you in a van and drop you off at the river. Then you kayak down the river and end at the office/your vehicle. So you weren't sitting there at the end waiting for someone to come pick you up, you just get out and are on your way. FYI: They only have a port-a-potty here, so if that freaks you out, use the bathroom before you get there. It was fairly clean, though.
