Shitty quality.

We have rented 4 times now from Beaver's Bend Marina with each time being about a 5 hour rental. I have to say this last time was most disappointing on the condition of the pontoon they gave us. There were plenty of other options available that say as it was mid-week and many schools were already back in session. I even asked if we could switch but they did not accommodate my request. Pontoon itself worked fine but the condition was less than desirable. Staff was friendly and thorough in explaining how to use the pontoon but not accommodating to my request for an alternate pontoon. Rates are not the cheapest in the area so will probably explore other options next time. For the prices one pays you would hope the pontoon worked well and the condition of it did not look like the photos. Disappointed this time.

Three families were on our trip, and we rented a Pontoon boat from this marina. The website boasts, "Come and enjoy the natural beauty of Broken Bow Lake on one of our luxurious pontoons!" but we now know why they also have state, " *Boat pictured above is not necessarily the boat you will be assigned" Take a look at my pictures and details of my experience and see if "luxury" is an accurate word! First, we boarded a pontoon that was in the worst condition I have ever experienced. Seats were dirty and cracked, and the canopy looked like it may disintegrate at any moment. Shortly after loading this mess, the deck assistant, Jaelyn, who was amaaaaazing and the highlight of this nightmare, informed us that the knee board we reserved was not available, but they did have the tube. We then walked the boat and took pictures because we had read a few negative reviews about people being charged for bogus damages. The propeller looked to be on its last leg, so we photographed that. We all were determined to make the most of it since the marina was fully booked and had no other boat to offer us. We left the no-wake area and quickly found out the boat would hardly go fast enough to pull a tuber (not that the speedometer worked either, so I cannot report the exact speed). Then, the tow rope kept falling off in the middle of the ride, which was tedious for 5 kids waiting for their turn to tube. Take a look at the picture, which shows the incorrect hook for the loop. It was not large enough to open and securely clamp around the loop. Unbelievably unsafe! Speaking of, boating regulations and decent marina practices require a Coast Guard-approved life jacket for every passenger. We were short one; one had no foam left in the vest, and most others were size XL for our party of 5 children and 6 adults! Just when we thought it could not get any worse, we stopped the engine to swim, and. . .you guessed it; the boat would not start; we waited and tried for almost 20 minutes before calling the marina; they were very rude and said, "Ok, we'll send out a rescue." No apology. Before the rescue got there, we got the boat to start, and the kids really wanted to salvage the day since there were no replacement boats. We continued to stop and replace the tow rope throughout the day, but the engine did at least stay running. The steering, at times, was unresponsive. The scariest time was when circling back for a rider who had fallen off, and we almost steered into them because the steering would not respond! Upon our return, we shared all our concerns with the man at the dock; he showed absolutely no interest! My husband asked him to check the battery because the battery light had begun to come on, and then the guy said, "Oh, yeah. . .these cables are barely connected; I'm so sorry." Whaaaaaaat???!!!!! Now, you may think this was the end of their incompetence, but oh no. . .after getting off the boat, we were all so hot, tired, and done with the experience we scrambled out of there while one adult stayed, signed the bill and left. When we got to looking at it, we were charged over $900 for 4 hours of a shotty pontoon, a tube, and gas. One thing for which we are very grateful is that when we returned to the marina the next day to get our charges adjusted, we had no problem! (I cannot believe it based on other reviews regarding charges). The people helping us that day were efficient and took care of us. I'll be contacting the Oklahoma Boating Authority about the safety issues, but in the meantime. . .beware. Another posted review stated you can rent a boat from many places in the area, and they will drop it in the lake for you!!! Check out that for sure!

Decided to rent a ski boat for a couple hours during our trip to Broken Bow. We had a great time tubing and cruising the lake. We had a great experience renting from Beaver Bend Marina! Staff was nice and helpful. We will rent again from here on future vacations!

We had a great time on the lake wakeboarding and tubing on the wakeboard boat we rented from Beavers Bend Marina. Why the 3 star rating? Because that's the current level I think they are striving for in terms of service and quality. The lady that checked us in was nice and explained everything well. The boat we rented initially did not start but they "fixed" it quickly. Gas was supposed to be full...was only 3/4. Wakeboard and tube were in good shape. Seats in the boat were ripped up and the MPH gauge did not work. Radio did not work at all. After we left the marina and were on the lake we realized there was only 2 XL adult life jackets. We had 2 adults and 4 kids ages 13-16. We had to return to the marina to get proper life jackets which was a waste of 30 minutes. Once we got out on the lake we had an incredible time and the boat was functional. The staff was nice, but clearly need proper training. Advice to MGMT: Provide training on the following: Inspect and test all boats and engines prior to rental, properly fit all renters for life jackets, provide brief operational instruction of boat to primary driver, ensure gas tank is 100% full, encourage renter to take pictures of boat and propeller to mitigate any arguments around damages, provide staff a checklist to of these items to complete prior to rental launch. With these small improvements I'm confident this could be a 5-star rated marina. Future potential renters: I would recommend this Marina as it's the only one on the lake...would just advise you follow the above suggestions on your own (if they don't) and you'll have a great time.

No amount of cleaning was done and in light of COVID, we had hoped that a higher level of care would be taken to protect their customers. There were peanuts all over the bottom of our boat, the seats were all dirt ridden and cracked. We requested to change boats after seeing the condition of the boat we were assigned. The girl that was intended to help us get set up was not friendly or apologetic that our boat was not ready to go. I do not recommend using them.

Horribly nasty torn seat

There's no shop selling water or anything, so definitely bring your own cooler or water. However, I picked this place as I was trying to find a canoe/kayak rental close to the cabins. They only offer one route, and it takes about one hour if you paddle the whole way through. Or you're like me and want to enjoy the peaceful ride. They did mention to bring the canoe/kayak back within 2 hours, but I believe they don't really keep track (just use common sense). They offer single/double kayak and canoe rental. I opted for the canoe as it's a tad larger than the kayaks. The way it works is you check in and pay for the rental, and then you wait for them to take you to the start of the route. The rental is the end of the route. You'll be asked to get a life jacket (they're all kinda moldy, so just pick any). The river doesn't really get that deep, and in fact, some are below knee height, but safety first. After that, they'll call your name once your ride is there. There's no waiting area, so if you go on a summer day, just be prepared to get a little sun. I can't remember how long I waited but it's probably between 30-45 min. Once you get to the start, they'll bring your rental onto the river. That's your cue to take the paddle and get on the rental. They'll push you to the river and you're off to your adventure! Even on a hot summer day, the river stays very cool, and you can get to the shallows and get off your rental for a bit (just don't let it float back on its own). When you get to the end, just paddle towards the rental shop, and they'll help you transition to land. To sum up, it's a good spot to rent kayak/canoe within the park. No showers or anything, but there's some swimming holes nearby that have showers. Equipments can be better maintained, but for the price, it's really good!

Definitely not the reviewer type, but this company cares more about their bottom line then their…read morecustomer's safety. We called to ask about the process twice before coming because we had several kids, one very young and we openly had little to no experience. We took four kayaks out and while driving to the river entrance asked for tips and advice and the only thing we got was that there was a small 2 to 3 foot drop and to keep left until after the falls. This was absolutely not the case and the trip was way more advanced than we were prepared for as beginners. We were scared most of the time and there were several moments we were thinking we'd have to leave the kayaks behind and save ourselves. We did lose a paddle, but not because we were careless, we were literally trapped with an over turned kayak and trying to hold on because the current was so strong it was either hold on for safety or let go of the paddle. This was made extremely worse because of the weather. It began raining with thunder and lightening and this only made the current force even stronger. The worst part is that they didn't even send us out on functioning equipment. They did quick repairs with duck tape before putting the kayaks in the water and assured it was ok. One of our kayaks had a hole that hadn't been found yet and was taking on water and had to be emptied several times throughout the trip. When we did get to the falls, this kayak was so full of water inside the kayak that it flipped causing the young child and his parent to go under water. When we got back, the owner would kind of apologize, but then blamed it all on the office person Ashley. Then made excuses and tried to talk away the complaints as a non issue. I was very surprised that none of the employees seemed phased by what we were telling them; like they had experienced this reaction before. I realize that there were several circumstances that factored into our experience and not all were completely in their control, but I don't think they cared about our safety at all. They consistently failed to provide a safe recreation environment, they never displayed any real remorse or concern for our scary experience and when all we wanted to do was go home, they lost our keys, which were supposedly meant to be securely stored while we were gone. I obviously wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, but I urge you to consider going elsewhere for you kayaking needs if you want to keep your family and friends safe.

However, I feel compelled to warn future/potential patrons of Beavers Bend White Water Canoe Rentals and its owner, Kenneth ("Ken") Byers, based on the recent experience of my students during a church youth retreat in Broken Bow. Due to slow business and making a reservation as a large group, we were able to agree to $35/double-kayak (which is $10-15 below what they usually charge to individuals renting only one double-kayak). Initially over the phone, when i had called weeks in advance of our youth group's retreat, Ken mentioned that we did not need to worry about availability of kayaks/canoes for 23 people, as he had "plenty of inventory." On the day of the retreat, of course, we ran into a bit of a hiccup where they only had 10 double-kayaks and required the remaining kids to use single kayaks. A small annoyance, but nothing worth really griping about. Ken then asked that we arrive before 2pm. We arrived at 1:30, only to be forced to wait for over 2 hours before they finally got us to the river. A slightly bigger annoyance, but something we were willing to overlook so as not to dampen the mood of the outing. Once we were out on the river, there were 2 employees assigned to our group, and these two were responsible for directing the kids along the river. We did not realize until much later that this was their first day on the job. Of course, no one told us this important fact initially, and they acted like they knew the river well. Our youth group consists of middle school and high school students, so we made sure to rely on these 2 "experts" employed by the company, trusting their every direction. After an hour or so, the route seemed unreasonably difficult and arduous for kids who were certainly beginners at kayaking, so we made sure to ask: "Are you sure this is the right way? This seems too hard..." to which the 2 employees confidently responded their directions were accurate. It felt like we were traveling upstream and the rowing was incredibly arduous for the adults, let alone the young middle school students. So we constantly asked if the direction we were heading was correct, and they consistently assured us that it was. After a few more hours of rowing (the river route should only have taken 1.5 hours), we asked them to call Ken and help us out because by this point, the sun was setting and our kids were crying, bruised, bleeding, and/or exhausted from being out on the river for more than 4 hours. Ken was unable to locate us and we were officially lost and stranded when the 2 staff members finally acknowledged that it was their first day and they had no idea where to go. It was traumatizing for our youth students, and we ended up being out there well past 9pm while it was getting very dark, creating a very dangerous situation for a group of minors who had already been out on the river rowing up/down/side-stream, and any which way to try to keep each other safe. With all the dangerous areas that the 2 staff members led our group towards, we were incredibly grateful to have ultimately been back safely on land at the end of the night. But our entire day had been ruined; we no longer could carry out the other programs we had planned for the day; and we ended up getting back in our cabin well past 10pm in what would be the most unforgettable and regrettable day. As bad as that was, the worst part was the unapologetic attitude of Ken Byers. His staff members apologized profusely for leading us in the wrong direction and putting that many kids in harm's way, but we wanted to hear a better explanation from the owner as to how this could happen. We were unable to reach him all weekend, and by the time he called back the following Monday, he was incredibly defensive and kept explaining how much of a pain it was for him to have to pay his staff overtime for the additional hours spent on the river, as well as the extra hassle he went through to go out the next day to recover the boats that he had yet to pick up off the shore where we finally had reached the previous day. Not once did he say "I'm sorry." Not once did he acknowledge how hellish that experience was for our kids. It's like he was afraid of a potential lawsuit while disclaiming all responsibility and fault. All we wanted was for him to be sincere in his apology, but he was more interested in explaining how much money we saved and how much of a hassle it was for him than being a decent human being. I highly doubt very many people will see this review before booking with Ken and Beavers Bend White Water Canoe Rentals, but on the off chance that this helps one other person/group realize the mismanagement, poor attitude, and lack of compassion shown by this company, the time I just wasted writing this review will have been worth it.
