I did my homework - read reviews, asked people, etc., but ultimately, I have to make a decision that I could live with. I decided on The Brow Room Cosmetic Tattooing because it's close to home, the photographs I've seen and the reviews I read were all good and everyone seemed satisfied with the result. There was no bad review. Agnes is so nice, she made me feel at ease as soon as I walked in - I'm sure she can sense how scared I was. She was very knowledgeable - she knows her brows! I came in thinking I am just getting a simple microblading, but after further discussions with her, I ultimately went for the combo brows and I am so glad I did! She took her time mapping my eyebrows - Ladies, you need your technician to take their time, no rushing! She showed me what she's done, made sure that before she proceeded that I was happy with it. There's some pain, but it is tolerable - do not be afraid! The procedure itself took 3 hours, but it didn't feel that long because you spent a lot of time chatting with Agnes! After the procedure, she gives you a paper, she writes down your next touch up appointment. You want to keep this. I read this and re-read this paper over and over again. I wanted to make sure that I don't screw it up - Agnes has done her part, it's now all on me to make sure I don't screw it up! I had my touch-up today and I can report to you dear readers that Agnes was happy that I did not screw it up (me too!). I followed the piece of paper that Agnes told me, it tells you what to do after your treatment and what to expect - very informative! I could have gone for a $300 microblading, but would I get the same compliments I get now? All my friends compliment my eyebrows - I was one of those women that over plucked their eyebrows. They were available for a same-day appointment, reserved only a few hours in advance. The only detractor of the location are the parking costs of being in "Downtown" New Westminster on a Sunday. From the moment coming in to the salon I was joyfully greeted by Trish , who was happy to accommodate my request for a little distance from other unmasked customers, even though it meant starting up a new pedicure chair. As an immuno compromised person, I still take care in enclosed spaces. I can sometimes be made to feel a burden by such requests even with available space. There was a substantial amount of nail polish colours to choose from and no extra charge if you selected something sparkly. My nail technician, Amy, was friendly and professional over the rough state of my feet. When you have a busy schedule and pedicures aren't possible, some places put a lot of effort into trying to make you feel bad about your feet being rough. I was very glad that this place wasn't like that because it definitely changes the enjoyment level of something that is meant to be a relaxing bit of self-care. Trish noticed my broken fingernail and suggested fixing it. she said the price for, a polish change versus full mani was only five dollars so I went ahead with the full Mani Pedi. There was a bit of a hiccup with both my color choices not coming out the way they seemed on the examples but both Trish and Amy were helpful in sorting it out to my satisfaction. Amy thoughtfully touched base with me throughout the Mani Pedi to make sure that nothing hurt and I was feeling OK. Lovely service that included hot towels and leg massage. The salon is conveniently located downtown in The Duncan Building which is a beautiful carriage building with various types of salons and other businesses inside. I was going away for the weekend and needed a quick wax. A last minute decision which luckily ended up at 2 Polished. I called and was greeted over the phone with a friendly voice and luckily was able to land an appointment within 30 minutes time. YES! Parking was a breeze because it's all street parking outfront, and upon entering I was pleasantly surprised but how charming it is inside. It's a bit smaller than your average salon/spa but I can appreciate the coziness of it and how everything looked CLEAN and well taken care for. There are 2 pedi stations on your right with stainless steel basins (used fresh every time, double yes), a mani station on your left and a loungey chair in the back which I assume are for lash appointments. Behind the mani station there is a small room for waxes and the like. I was greeted by the receptionist and was told Angie was just preparing for my appointment and that she'd be out in a second. I really had no idea who Angie was, but turns out she is the heart and soul of 2 Polished. The wax itself was pleasant (as pleasant as a wax can be) and I loved that she took her time. I've gotten so many waxes in my lifetime and you won't believe how lazy people can get. Angie used gloves, disposable wooden waxing applicators, fresh bed paper, etc etc. Just basically anything you might be worried about when it came to hygiene...she took care of it. And the cost was very reasonable. I highly recommend 2 Polished and can't wait for my next service. From looking at their instagram, I'd probably try getting my lashes done next time too.
