From the get-go, Melissa was patient with my questions, making sure that all my concerns were addressed in full. When it came to booking, the system releases dates for the next month on the first day of the current month and my advice would be to book ASAP. It floored me how quickly dates disappeared from the booking calendar - though that's also a pretty strong indicator of how popular/sought-after a brow appointment at Brow Beauty is! During the day of, Melissa was great with advising me on what shape/color would work best for me (she's the expert!) and definitely helped to put me at ease. The process itself was relatively painless and lasted a little over two hours. Afterwards, she was clear on how important post-care was - no exercise, stay out of direct sunlight and the ever important, don't pick at scabs! The healing process itself took about two weeks, and the best piece of advice I have for anyone going through this is to trust the staff and trust the process. Right after the appointment there was definitely some mild swelling (which I was forewarned about) and I'd read enough stories/reviews describing the post-appointment look as "Angry Birds." Thankfully, I had more of a "Mildly Concerned Birds" look during the first two days, but within the first week, the healing process started and the brows both lightened and thinned out - just as Melissa had assured me they would! I got compliments from coworkers straightaway and I was happy to tell them all about Melissa and Brow Beauty. The salon is conveniently located downtown in The Duncan Building which is a beautiful carriage building with various types of salons and other businesses inside. Even though my appointment was right at the time they were supposed to open, they were already open and set up. My MUA/Hair Stylist, Jane, was super sweet and kind. Alisha took the time to answer my questions and reassure me since I was initially a little nervous and hesitant. The brow appointment took 4 hours since she is newer, but I was appreciative of her attention to detail and her dedication to making my eyebrows look perfect. Alisha would keep finding small things or details about my eyebrows that she wanted to fix or make even more symmetrical. I am so impressed and thankful for her work. When I went in for permanent eyebrows Shauna seemed short tempered to me. I've never had a tattoo…read moreso I'm not familiar with the process, which she did not explain to me at all. I had done my research online about permanent eyebrows and decided on Shauna after all the positive reviews. It bothered me are that she did not explain to me that 2 sessions are needed to test how the color you choose will look on your skin once the tattoo heals and the scabs fall off (BTW the pictures she posts on her website are taken right after she's done with the tattoo, the color and shape changes a lot after it's healed and scabs fall off). After showing her a picture of what I wanted my eyebrows to look like she dismissed it and drew something completely different on my face simply because she doesn't like the actress in the picture I showed her. This made it harder to achieve the look I wanted and after the first session my brows didn't look like what we had agreed on. I ended up with big gaps between strokes and had to continue filling in my eyebrows with a pencil because the color was too light. On the second session I explained to her what I did not like about the eyebrows and after going back and forth I finally ended up with the color I wanted and the shape I wanted. I was expecting that after the first session and seeing how the color reacted on my skin she would know what color to use to achieve what I had asked her for, but she didn't. I had to choose the color for myself. During this second session she was very short with me, didn't apply enough freezing so I had to endure the pain, to which she said "sorry, you just have to suck it up". Yes, she is very clean and has many certifications, there's no question about that, but after my experience with her I will keep looking for other alternatives when the time comes to redo my brows. It's also $300 every time you need a touch up. I have a friend that goes to an Asian salon that charges a fraction of that and her eyebrows look very good too - but they don't speak English there, that's why I went with Shauna.

The process was literally painless, since she numbs the area before doing anything with the needle. Also beyond my expectations, Shauna gave me a follow up call a week after each session to ensure the healing process has gone smoothly! I mean who does that? My dentist surely doesn't....neither have any of my previous tattoo artists. To my utmost surprise....this was by far the most superior service I've ever received! It's clear that Shauna not only cares about her work but about her clients - ensuring that they are satisfied with her work. I've had so many compliments on my brows since then and no one believes they've been inked. They are so natural - I absolutely love them (unlike those deep and dark straight lines from other places). The price may be a little higher than most, but it's a tattoo - and the quality of work and her attentiveness to her clients is surely worth the price. I'm going in to make the line a little thicker in May. I just love getting up and not bothering with eyeliner anymore. I can work out and cry and it doesn't make a difference. Update: Got the eyeliner a little thicker. It was done in about an hour. So happy with the results!

When she was finished she spent some time with me looking over the shape, tweaking and perfecting to make sure I am 100% happy with them. She doesn't rush you out of there like some appointments do.
