At the time we spoke, she stated that other people had inquired about my date, but something should work (even going as far as to say that people with my wedding planner got some sort of preference). The phone call ended with her saying she would send me a proposal that evening. When the proposal did not come, I followed up one week later and received no response. Two weeks later, I received an email from Cassie saying that after our phone call she realized that she could not put together a team for me, followed by some boilerplate rhetoric about how she wants only people she knows that can fit my wedding needs to help me. This email honestly came too late. If there was any issue with availability that needs to be immediately communicated. The wedding industry can be complex and stressful. Especially, when it comes to ensuring availability of the vendors you want. Waiting this long to express an availability issue put me at a disadvantage for reaching out to other vendors (I have done so but after speaking with Candelaria they were my top pick and I wanted to wait for a proposal). This all comes after I expressed to Candelaria that scheduling makeup was my biggest wedding stressor. After this experience, their concern for their customers and interest in their "special day" rings hollow. From other reviews, this seems to be a common theme. This practice is unprofessional and hurts people. They seem really nice and like they are talented makeup artists. However, they need to work on their communication and transparency instead of stringing prospective clients along.

I had previously gone to this salon about two years earlier for a wash treatment, and that experience was gentle and positive. Because of that, I felt comfortable returning. During this appointment, however, the experience was very different. The stylist poured baking soda directly onto my scalp and scrubbed my hair very aggressively. This was not something that had been done during my previous visit, and it was not explained or discussed with me beforehand. I told her I was uncomfortable with baking soda being poured directly onto my scalp, and she told me it was fine and continued. Afterward, I was placed under the dryer and no one checked on me. After about 20 minutes, my hair felt extremely dry and brittle. My locs were sticking outward and felt stiff, so I removed my head from under the dryer myself. When the stylist began crocheting my locs, the process was extremely tight and painful. I told her multiple times that it was hurting and asked her to loosen or stop, but the tight crocheting continued. After the appointment, I noticed significant breakage as well as visible demarcation in my locs. I had maintained my dreadlocks for about 4.5 years and took great care of them. They contributed to my income as well. Prior to this appointment my hair was soft, full, and healthy. After this service, the condition of my locs was so compromised that I ultimately had to remove them. Since then, I have not been able to successfully loc my hair again. Whether due to the damage, stress, or changes in my hair texture, the experience has had a lasting impact. I have photos documenting the condition of my hair afterward. Losing locs that I had grown and cared for over several years has been extremely upsetting and has deeply affected my confidence and sense of identity. I would not wish this experience on anyone. All statements in this review reflect my personal observations and experience during this appointment. This review reflects my personal experience so others can make informed decisions.

I ended up crying on the floor of Target to buy bleach just so I could have something that looked close to normal. I had to chop off 6 inches of hair and give myself bangs because of the sheer volume of fried hair. It is several months later and I have spent close to $2500 trying to fix my hair. The ends are still crispy and break off and my hair is barely chin length. Of note, he barely wore a mask the entire time. He also left bleach in my hair while he went into the hallway to argue with a girl who took a photo of him doing hair without a mask. He also commented on my husband who is of Chinese descent something to the effect of "I love Asian men! They are like f*cking a dolphin because they are so smooth!" He also kept sneaking in the back to take shots of vodka so pretty sure he wasn't sober most of the time. These are just the highlights of the experience. Suffice it to say, I will not be going back and I would not recommend this business to anyone I want to remain friends with.
