After I explained the details of my dress, she designed two eye looks for me so that I could choose my favorite, then took notes on all the products we used so we could recreate the look on the big day. I was so nervous about getting my makeup done professionally for the first time but she made it such a fun and pleasant experience! Fast forward to the days leading up to my nikkah, I had a huge problem with my dress and had to go with my backup outfit. This dress was pink as opposed to the original dress, which was champagne and green. I panicked and told Hina I had to change my look entirely to being fully pink, and she readily and professionally took on the new plan. On the day of the nikkah, I brought a few of my friends to Hina's studio. Hina welcomed them in and was beyond graciously hospitable. She was also open to both my adjustments to the makeup look as well as my friends' opinions. Throughout the entire appointment, Hina did a fantastic job of balancing her expertise with my preferences, so that when I became concerned about, i.e., my lip color she did an excellent job of both reassuring me to trust the process while also incorporating what I wanted. All along, I had plenty of fun conversations with her. Hina is genuine, kind, professional, and talented. She is an artist and a perfectionist who genuinely wants you to look your best for your event! She locked in my date quickly, accommodated a trial reschedule, and even reworked the timeline to include my mom and mother-in-law when they decided last-minute they wanted makeup too. On the day of the wedding, she was calm, focused, and ready for anything. At one point, my dad came into the bridal suite earlier than expected and immediately teared up -- which, of course, got me crying too. Jasmine had already packed up, but she swooped in without hesitation to do a perfect touch-up just before the ceremony. She also helped me feel emotionally ready. I was less than two months away from my wedding and had not yet booked a makeup artist. The one I…read morehad initially found through Wedding Wire was making me feel uneasy and worried as to whether or not she'd show up on my wedding day (she did not email me contract information for a week past when she told me she would because she'd thrown her back out...how was I supposed to feel confident that she'd be healthy on my big day if she couldn't even send an email??) I was stressing out big time that I hadn't found someone, so I contacted my fabulous wedding coordinator (see my review for Eventful Days - Jill Guiomar), and she recommended Lucy-Zayne. I feel so incredibly grateful to the makeup artist who made me feel uneasy, because if all of that hadn't happened, I never would have found Lucy!! Lucy was quick to respond to my voicemail inquiry, and we set up a makeup trial shortly after the call. The trial went wonderfully, and Lucy was so easy to talk to. She'd asked me for photos before the trial of my dress, my earrings, how I was planning to do my hair, and also examples of makeup styles I was going for. She executed the look I wanted perfectly during the trial, and I had the utmost confidence in her on my wedding day! Her prices were extremely reasonable as well (especially for the Bay Area which can be outrageous). Communication with Lucy was fantastic throughout the weeks leading up to my wedding. She even emailed me to let me know she was going to be out of town for a wedding a little before my wedding, so she might be hard to get a hold of on her travel days. Anyone who has gotten married knows there is nothing like great communication and setting expectations when it comes to wedding vendors! Lucy was one of the best communicators I had among all my vendors. Lucy showed up to the hotel right on time the morning of my wedding. She got two and 1/2 of my bridesmaids (one just got lashes and a little unexpected, but appreciated overall makeup touch up), my mom, our two flower girls and me done with time to spare! Everyone looked beautiful!!! My mom and bridesmaids really enjoyed talking with Lucy while they were in her chair, and they were all really happy with their makeup. Lucy gave everyone touch up makeup kits to take with us so we could keep our makeup looking fabulous throughout the day and night. I can't tell you how many compliments I received throughout my wedding about my makeup, and they keep coming in from people who weren't at the wedding but have seen pictures. No one can tell that I only had around 3 hours of sleep the night before because of Lucy's magic! My boyfriend's childhood friend who also happens to be a hairstylist in the San Ramon area told me to call nine two five salon. I called the Hayward location right away since I'm very familiar with them and have gone to them in numerous different occasions. I called and spoke with Rebecca from the Hayward location and asked if anyone can detangle hair in either of their location. She got back to me in less than 15 minutes and was able to find Madison for me from their Pleasanton location. I booked right away for a Thursday morning appointment and the rest was history. We showed up Thursday morning and Madison did her thing. One of my biggest appreciation for Madison is her compassion for my goddaughter. She saw the stress in her eyes and really wanted to help her preserve her hair. Madison communicated with both me and my goddaughter about the what-ifs and how she was gonna proceed in case she couldn't save her hair but she made sure that every step was explained. Madison was very patient and made sure she didn't stay in one area of her head because her head was going to be tender. Madison brushed out my goddaughters for as long as she could. Honestly, I think the whole process took anywhere from 10-13 hours give or take split between two days. Madison had to move her schedules around just to accommodate my goddaughter. The end result was amazing. My goddaughter was extremely happy and excited with her new hair. She showed it off to me and sent me a bunch of pictures overall being happy and thankful that I found Madison. So if you're looking for someone to do detangling on your hair or really anyones hair, Madison is your go to person. Her rate wasn't bad at all either. I paid over $700 for tape in hair extensions and $350 plus 20% tip for installation of the tape in hair extensions. Within days, multiple extensions began falling out and some extensions were already twisting. I immediately contacted the stylist, documented the issues with photos, and returned for a correction appointment. Despite the repair, additional extensions continued to fall out shortly afterward. Throughout the process, I made efforts to resolve the matter directly and professionally. Rather than acknowledging the possibility of an installation issue, responsibility was repeatedly shifted to potential hair-loss concerns. However, the extensions that fell out still had significant hair amounts of my natural hair attached, and a second stylist who evaluated the installation raised concerns about the amount and placement of hair within some of the extension sandwiches. What I found most disappointing was not just the installation itself, but the lack of accountability when the problem persisted after corrective work was performed. I spent additional time, money, and effort trying to have the issue addressed, yet I was repeatedly asked to return for further evaluations after already making a trip for corrective work. After extensive discussions and continued documentation of the problem, the stylist stated I was threatening her by saying I was going to leave a review of her work. She mentioned that she would offer me a partial refund of $100 to resolve this matter but I am not to leave a review of threaten her. Apparently telling her that her work was not adequate is considered threatening. After telling the stylist that $100 was unacceptable she eventually refunded $150, but does not change the fact that the extensions failed almost immediately after installation. My expectation when paying for a professional extension installation is that the extensions remain secure for more than a few days and that legitimate concerns are addressed without the customer having to repeatedly advocate for themselves.
