I hired Bfab for hair and makeup on a Wednesday afternoon. I didn't necessarily need someone to come to my home, but I had a hard time finding a salon or studio that could do both. Bfab had availability on my date and great reviews. I was so happy with how my hair and makeup turned out. The reason for giving 3 stars was that they did not show up at the scheduled time as they had accidentally cancelled my appointment in their system. Had I not called them inquiring where my stylist was, they wouldn't have even been aware of my appointment. Fortunately, after my third attempt calling them someone picked up and they were able to schedule Cindy to complete my appointment. I was very happy with Cindy's work and so glad it worked out. It was a relatively low-importance event so I was not stressed out about the time crunch, but if it had been a wedding or special event, this would have been unacceptable. They did not offer a partial refund, a discount on a future service, or anything to make it right. The price was $290 for hair and makeup. Overall I would hire them again, but I would confirm the appointment a week before and a day before the event. read more

I am so very late in getting this posted. We've been through a lot in the last few months. I must have messaged ten salons on here before finding BFAB. No one else wanted to help. The gal that received my message here quickly found one of their stylists that was willing and able to jump right in. For this reason alone, this salon should get all of your business, and will definitely get all of mine when i happen to be in the Bay. Kat is one AMAZING lady, we are so very grateful to her for saving our 19-year-old daughter's hair. She worked for almost TEN HOURS to get the matting out. Our baby was in a very bad car accident in October that severed her spinal cord and she will likely never walk again according to the doctors, and she was in a bed for three weeks before being able to sit up much. During that time, she developed a mat the size of a tangerine on the crown of her head. She's lost enough and we were scared that she might lose her hair, too. Kat worked tirelessly to ensure that didn't happen, and we honestly will be forever grateful to her. Please please give this beautiful soul all of your business, her kind heart deserves it. Bfab was amazing!! I had a really HARD time finding a HMUA at first, I was coming across all these HMU artists who were either too expensive or had way too much attitude. But when I spoke to Margo, I knew I had found the right vendor. These folks are extremely professional and very organized! I got Carina as my HUMA and oh my I couldn't ask for anyone else.. I opted for a trial with her because I had to get 2 different looks (Indian traditional and western). Carina came home and worked with me on both looks very patiently. We collaborated and came up with ideas. She even made a PDF of her plan for my wedding day with all the notes from the trial day! For someone with an OCD for planning, this was great!! Bfab outdid all my expectations on the day of the wedding too! I had hired bfab for my bridesmaids' and mom's HMUA as well. Both artists were right on time, setup their stations quickly and got to work. Carina was just outstanding with both my looks on the day of the wedding...my husband's reaction at the first look and seeing me walk down the aisle were a great testament to her work! She was on time and finished in the said amount of time. The makeup lady was 15 minutes late, unfriendly and made me look more Asian than normal. I have been SLEEPING on bfab! I was trying to book a last-minute blowout on Friday night (for Saturday morning) and of course all the in-store blowout bars (rhymes with shmybar or shmālo) were either closed or didn't have availability. I turned to Yelp and came across bfab. It was nearly 11:30 at night and their online scheduling system allowed me to request a blowout for 8AM, so I did it, not sure if it would actually pan out. To my surprise, I received a text like 10 minutes later saying that they couldn't make 8 happen on such short notice, but would try for 9:30 instead. Literally 5 minutes later I got a text saying they had a stylist who would be at my door at 9:30 the following morning. Sure enough, Simin knocked on my door at 9:30 sharp and was ready to go. We followed their COVID-safety protocols, wore masks, etc. and honestly, Simin gave me THE best blowout! Way better than any I'd gotten in an in-store place, especially when they rotate stylists so you rarely see the same person twice. The time I saved not having to drive to-and-from a place also really helped me be able to get out the door on time. Overall, it's only like $20 more than an in-store blowout (including tip!), which is not bad considering they provide all products, tools, and the convenience of having your hair done in your own home. I highly recommend bfab and Simin, specifically, as my stylist. I'll never go back to an in-store spot again--can't wait to book again with bfab soon! read more

I booked BFAB for myself and my bridesmaids for my July wedding. First off, Kat and the other stylists we worked with were excellent! Kat did a wonderful job informing me about different options (like doing airbrushing vs traditional foundation), and she did a beautiful natural look that was perfect for myself who never wears makeup. We also tried longer lashes during my trial, so I could see how they felt. I decided to go with a more natural length, but it was wonderful to go through the options with her. The day of the wedding everyone was professional and friendly. Margo worked with me to put together a schedule, so that all my bridesmaids knew when to show up. My only complaint is that some of the logistics got a bit confusing leading up the wedding. For my hair and makeup trial I was sent an invoice and email saying the trial was only for makeup and not for hair. When I asked, Margo quickly corrected it, but there were a few other small logistical hiccups like these that made me a bit nervous leading up to the wedding. I love that they were able to send however many stylists were needed to make our timeline work. I found that other places could only send 2 stylists which would mean girls would spend a lot of time waiting for their turn, but BFab sent 3 stylists (Kat, Nina, Maritza) and created a rotation schedule that worked for us. Such a bad experience I'm leaving a review a year later. This is actually the first review I have ever written in my entire life. The emotions that this company has given me have stuck with me and bothered me throughout the year leading me to write this review. Last May, my boyfriend invited me to his law school's Barristers' Ball. I really struggle with getting ready on time, so I sought out Bfab's services to prevent me from being late. I didn't want to deal with the anxiety of getting ready as I get really bad anxiety. Although that was the goal, because of the awful service I got, I had to deal with doing my own makeup even though I had paid to get it done. Rachel was supposed to do my makeup, but she was sick that day so they sent Amanda instead. Maybe if I had Rachel, things would have been better. I showed Amanda the look I was going for, and she started by saying she wasn't able to do my eyeliner because it wouldn't look right. Which is fine, if you can't do my eyeliner you can't do it, but then she showed me a picture and she said if she were to do my eyeliner that's what it would look like...I do my eyeliner all the time and it never looks like that. I have slightly hooded eyes so I understand that the technique would be different, but as a makeup artist, they should know how to do makeup on any eye shape. I will attach a picture like the one she showed me because it was a bit ridiculous. I definitely wasn't happy hearing that she couldn't do it, but if it was only that, I wouldn't mind doing it myself. little did I know, it wasn't just the eyeliner I would have to do, but practically my whole makeup. I opened up to Amanda and told her that I am super self-conscious about my eyebrows. They're extremely light and don't have much of a shape. I told her that I wanted them light to medium brown but more on the lighter side and that I didn't want them to look too dark as I've had someone do them far too dark in the past. She took this as I hardly wanted anything on my eyebrows. I kept telling her that I want them very much filled in, I just want them light and that I wanted them filled in enough to give them a shape. I tried to explain to her what I wanted about 5 times before I gave up. Each time she told me she understood, but she just wasn't doing what I was asking. When she was finished with my makeup, I asked her one last time if she could fix my eyebrows, she said to go look in the mirror to see the final look first since she only had a small mirror and she would fix them when I came back. I went into the bathroom and when I came back she was packing up her stuff, she didn't even wait for me to say I liked my makeup or anything or to fix my eyebrows. I found her behavior extremely rude, I sat down on the chair hoping she was still going to fix it, but she continued to pack all her things up. I just kinda shut down and tried not to cry. I gave her a tip and just let her go because I felt a breakdown coming on. You can only tell someone what you want so many times before you realize that they simply don't care. I was so unhappy with what she did. My eyebrows were hardly even there, my eyeshadow wasn't blended at all, and my face had hardly any coverage even after discussing I wanted as much coverage as possible, I felt like the only thing she did was my eyes and my lip, everything else was just not right at all and I still had to do my eyeliner which I didn't mind doing that but I was so upset that I had to do my entire makeup over again because of how bad she did. I wish I had a complete before and after picture, but I didn't think to take one until I was halfway through my makeup. I will include example pictures and the before pictures that I took. Marcella did my hair and she did a pretty good job, but I couldn't stand my makeup. I paid way too much money to have to redo it, It was so unfair! Because of Amanda, I ended up being late to my event and I wasn't able to feel like I truly looked my best. The same event is coming around again, bringing up memories of the horrible service I received from this company. I have never even thought to leave a review for anything until their service. Bfab had such good reviews that lead me to choose them, but I feel like they did me so dirty that I have to share my experience because I don't want anyone else to feel robbed of their money and as disappointed as I did. Money right down the drain. I still can't believe I paid that much just to have to do my makeup myself! It truly is not fair! I would be extremely wary of bfab. I scheduled for the day of our family photos for a blowout and clip in extensions. The stylist was late, and very inexperienced. She started by blowing out my hair leaving it sticky (to the point where you couldn't get a comb through) and frizzy. She wasn't experienced with extensions and I had to show her a manual for how to install. She clipped in about half the pack, and said she was done, and I suggested she add more so it didn't look uneven. The extensions were not properly placed - down close to my waste v 16", uneven, and showing in the back . She did so and wanted to leave before styling. I made some suggestions, offered she use my tools (she didn't bring a flat iron) and said we should tag team (I'll iron flyaways, she style ends). After 10 min of her doing a really terrible and slow job styling, I took over because we needed to leave the house. The silver lining is that the owners were responsive, and refunded me. But it didn't make up for $175 in ruined, sticky extensions and a $500 photo shoot for which the photos that include me are unusable. Luckily, the photos of the kids are cute so we can use those for holiday cards...but was really hoping to get a nice family shot. It ruined a day that was supposed to be special. read more
