I had an absolutely disastrous haircut with Audrina…read more I went in for a trim & told her I wanted to keep the length (my hair WAS quite long). She assured me she'd take off 1.5"-2". Instead, she took off 4-5". I'm guessing that she kept taking more and more off in attempt to get it even (which is extremely strange as I have the easiest hair to cut - stick straight with long layers) and finally gave up because towards the end of drying my hair, she spun me around so I was no longer facing the mirror, and she curled it. No hairdresser I've ever had has curled my hair without my asking, before. I was pretty shocked by how short it was, but I thought maybe that was because it was so curly. I decided to make the best of it, paid her, and left. After I got home & washed my hair, I saw that, not only had she taken off WAY more than she said she would, but it was also completely uneven. The ends look like they been hacked at, and one side of my hair is a LOT shorter than the other side! I am flabbergasted and furious. I emailed the owner who apologized and offered to fix it. Like I would EVER set foot in that salon ever again!

I recently moved to the area and was looking forward to finding a new place I can conveniently go to on a regular basis. I had to call about three times throughout the day before I finally got to talk to someone. The receptionist then said she would have to call me back after they check availability, but they never returned my call. I'm surprised they do not have the schedule sorted out to make booking an appointment easier... I had to choose reliability and organization over convivence, so I found another place.

I find that Mel not only is absolutely professional, but she doesn't damage my hair she listens. She wants to do what I want to do. She doesn't have her own preconceived idea and she is beyond sweet, caring, and a very pleasant person to be around! My hair is long, healthy, mostly blonde, and I like a natural look not over bleach look with dimension, and I've been having a hard time for seven years getting somebody who can do that and willing to do balayage and I can say that I finally found my match ! I came home, and my husband said that he thought that my hair poor looked probably better than he has ever seen my hair being done! This is coming from a guy who will complement, but he would not go out of his way to say that, unless it was true! What she did freshen, not only at my hair, but gave me the pop that I wanted with the dimension and no damage no dry just beautiful Aside from this, I was hopping on a plane tomorrow morning, and this is a Sunday. I reached out to her, thinking at the salon was open to find that she was not open, but she came into service mode. Amazing!! I'm hooked and I'm gonna be telling everybody about her! Thank you !!! My hair design(?), cut has changed over those 5 years and Salpy has come along with me: adding her own touches and knowledge about hair cutting along with her. Yes, there are men here both as operators and customers which adds to the pleasant mix of cultures and genders. All of the Ladies and Dudes who work here are very nice and treat everyone with respect . As opposed to a more contemporary Salon, XIV is like having my hair cut in someone's living room: lots of bonhomie, cups of Armenian coffee and sometimes slabs of pastry from Valley Bakery across the street. XIV sits on a spot on Kenneth Road which is a very bustling part of North Glendale. Parking is on Kenneth Road and on side streets. They also do Nails here and there is a Facial/Massage room.
