I absolutely love my makeover and "Hollywood curls"! Hazel is such a joy. She is very friendly and bubbly. I met her through my husband and I'm so grateful to have met such a kind person. She worked on my hair first. I'm not used to curls since I usually would have straightened my hair instead. I let her choose what she wanted to do as far as my hair and make up. I'm easy and not picky at all. Heck, just getting dolled up was exciting for this Mama! After she curled my hair, she started on my make up. I told her to just do what she does. She took her time and explained what she was doing. I was so excited to see the "end result". When she took my hair down; I loved it! It was so different from what I am used to. I highly recommend Hazel & her team for hair and makeup. What stood out immediately about Hazel is how personable she is, I felt so comfortable with her immediately. I reached out to Hazel via the Knot, I was interested in hiring her for my bridal hair/makeup and requested a trial. Hazel went above and beyond! She had a full day booked ahead of her on the day I requested my trial (my bridal shower) but she made it work. She fit me in extra early because I really wanted to experience the makeup with a full day ahead of me. I loved my makeup and received so many compliments. Fast forward... we are about 3 weeks out to my wedding day and my venue cancels on me due to COVID restrictions. When I told Hazel she was so sympathetic and went above and beyond AGAIN. Hazel was an absolute dream: professional, personable, and takes pride in her work. I worked with Hazel for her hair and makeup expertise for my wedding photoshoot early 2021. Planning/Prep: Hazel was prompt in her responses to my questions, especially with regards to cleaning procedures and my preferred hair/makeup styles - all in a short timeframe. She reviewed my pinterest board and asked very relevant questions that helped with my decision making with other vendors (e.g. our florist). Hazel was very timely in providing a proposal and setting up a time in my calendar - she is very organized! Day-Of: Hazel arrived extra early to our appointment, which is a HUGE plus in my book, particularly when things can easily get crazy on your wedding/photoshoot day. Hazel was wonderful to work with - she took great care in applying my makeup and working on my hair while staying on time with our schedule. She washed her hands, cleaned her brushes thoroughly, and had her mask on the entire time. Because of the short time frame, we did not have a hair/ makeup trial beforehand, but the look she created for me was exactly what I had imagined (and more, because I'm not great with makeup myself!). I hired Hazel's service for my wedding about two weeks ago but sadly had a very disappointing experience. She firstly forgot that I had booked a hair trial prior to the wedding so that never happened, she did give me my money back for that. She made my hair nice enough, though it was not how I wanted it. The part of my hair I was really upset by was that she totally FRIED it with the high heat and no hair protection at all! I had just gotten a haircut a month ago and I have pretty healthy hair. Now it's so dry and filled with split ends, which has left me crying about it so much. I am originally from Europe so I understand how the makeup trend is different and tend to be heavier in the US, which is totally fine. After seeing her doing my mothers makeup so heavy I told her in regards to the foundation that I only wanted a few spots covered. But she continued to cover me with so much foundation that I had to tell her I wanted it different since it looked so cakey. Also, the eye makeup didn't look anything like the makeup I asked for, and it totally changed the shape of my eyes so I just didn't feel like me at all. Long story short I removed all the makeup and put on my own makeup and kept the brows like they were. She put on false lashes on me, but they fell off after two hours anyway which left my makeup looking even worse! Maybe there wasn't enough clear communication, but I feel like hazel should have done a better job asking questions instead of just doing it how she wanted it to look. She seems to be a very nice person but I would never recommend her to anyone because frankly, it left me feeling really ugly on my wedding day which I can never redo. read more

Having Hazel as my hair and makeup artist for my wedding honestly is a huge part of what my wedding experience so enjoyable. My original wedding date was canceled due to the shut down and pandemic. Hazel was super responsive and understanding with me when I messaged her and changed my new date about 4 times. She made sure to keep in touch during the year in between when I first hired her and my new trial date. I was very nervous to get my hair and makeup done, I usually don't wear any makeup and don't often do anything special to my hair. During my trial Hazel went over photos with me of what I was looking for, showed me examples of things she had done and really listened to what I was asking for. She made me feel so comfortable it was instantly like I was talking with a friend. More than that she completely won over my mom, who still doesn't stop talking about how much she loved her. Hazel is wonderful! She did my hair/makeup for my wedding in September 2019, and I had an excellent experience. I struggled to find someone who would come to me at the Claremont Club to do my hair/make up because I was the only one who needed hair/makeup done (I had no bridesmaids or bridal party.) But, Hazel came in and saved the day. When we did the test run, she was friendly and fun; and she asked great questions about what I liked and didn't like. I'm not a girly-girl, so my knowledge on cosmetics and style is quite limited. But, it didn't matter! Hazel understood the style I wanted, and she nailed. I only received compliments about my hair/makeup at the wedding. Also, on our wedding day, she arrived timely, set up with no fuss (even though it was crazy hot in our hotel room with lots of people), and worked her magic. In addition to being an absolute joy to work with, her prices are absolutely reasonable - which can be tough to find in the Bay Area.
