We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside on a beautiful Sunday morning. I ordered the ham and cheese croissant, which came with a side salad with a lemon vinaigrette. My friend ordered avocado toast and added an egg. The toasted corn on the toast was a great addition and added really nice texture. After we finished our coffee we ordered a fresh pressed juice and kombucha, both of which were made in house. Came here for a lunch and had a lovely experience. This is such a pretty restaurant with amazing food. The ambience of the restaurant has a modern cafe vibe. Loved the interiors, so well decorated. I loved the lunch menu selection and they have quite a few vegetarian options. We started with the fresh squeezed juice, they were so refreshing . We then had the vegan tortilla soup, wild mushroom teriyaki bowl, and the blackened fish tacos . The soup was absolutely delicious, it was so comforting. The mushroom teriyaki bowl was a 10/10, it was bursting with the flavors. The tacos were really good as well. Loved the seasoning on the salmon. Overall it was a wonderful lunch. We came here on a Saturday morning around 10 AM and got seated immediately. The place had plenty of tables open, but had a really nice energy. This is my first time here, and I absolutely loved it! All of our food was amazing. The only thing that I was slightly disappointed on, was the baked French toast. I felt that it was a little bit dry, and over baked. Beatrix had the fancy coffee drinks and a full bar, "meat and eggs" and the fancy shashouka eggs, your basic burger and a phenomenal mushroom burger (on a brioche bun!)... they have options! Bring your vegetarian friends and your hard-to-please parents;) They will find something! Servers are always great. Sometimes they're even above great! We had a special birthday and our server really went above and beyond! It's the little things. This is a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant so they charge the 4% fee to all bills. That's fine with us as most restaurants now have something like that, but keep this in mind. While this place is almost always buzzing, we've never felt rushed to finish our 2nd latte. This is a great spot for brunch! I was visiting a friend in Oak Brook last weekend, and she made us reservations for brunch that did not disappoint. My friends and I came here for lunch after my friend's graduation. It was super busy on a Saturday afternoon around 1 pm but we were able to get seated fairly quickly for a table of 5. The restaurant is huge with a very nice atmosphere. There was a coffee bar area too which was something I wish I checked out. The food was amazing. We got Brussels sprouts, the mushroom quinoa burger, Mac and cheese, and a few other items that I don't remember but know that my friends liked what they had. I have to say the mushroom quinoa burger and Mac and cheese were SO GOOD and I would highly recommend. I'm writing this review for one reason: bizarre menu changes. When Lettuce Entertain sent someone to get Antico back on track, my partner & I noticed that Beatrix got some of that treatment as well. They shared a few menu items, such as the Rigatoni & Whitefish. I'm guessing some training occurred, because the quality at both places increased noticeably. Antico is incredible again, though I've noticed seasonal menu choices I think are less than stellar. Even so--Beatrix's menu changes are far, far worse. Beatrix had, until recently, two dinner options & two breakfast options that were stellar: Buffalo Chicken Meatballs & Sautéed Cauliflower; Vanilla Bean Yogurt & Coffee-Overnight Oats. The chicken meatballs came with a yogurt ranch; the cauliflower had sesame seeds & a really delicious sauce. For whatever reason, some absolute mad lad in that kitchen asked themselves: what if we just switch the base of these recipes? Now they offer Buffalo Chicken Cauliflower & Korean Chicken Meatballs. The new chicken meatballs are fine--a little spicy (that's a good thing), nowhere near as good flavor-wise, but fine. The "buffalo chicken" cauliflower is disgusting; slimy, crunchy cauliflower breaded & coated in buffalo seasoning. It was so disgusting my partner & I felt sick to our stomachs. We couldn't finish the rest of our meal. We both enjoy cauliflower alternatives to meat dishes; this was not even close to edible. The vanilla bean yogurt was already a bit insulting to pay fifteen dollars for--what made it worth it, to me, was how rich & delicious the yogurt was; they also piled on interesting additions, such as pomegranate seeds, crunchy granola, pomegranate honey, & edible violets. I bought the same ingredients to recreate it at home, as well as make my own vanilla bean yogurt--that's how much I loved it. Now, it's Greek yogurt with some granola, orange honey, strawberries & brûléed bananas--even less worth paying for, & exceptionally boring. It's not special Greek yogurt. Just regular. Get some Chobani & some orange flower honey from a local farm & you basically have two weeks of the same dish. Why would I pay fifteen dollars for what I can make at home with no effort? The prior recipe if made at home at least demanded I make my own yogurt. And man, the overnight oats. I love overnight oats; I eat them daily with the same flax & chia combo they add at Beatrix. For whatever reason, they're having trouble finding the right recipe; first it had vanilla bean whipped cream, the oats were coffee-soaked, & brûlée bananas--decadent, maybe too much for breakfast, but really good. The coffee-soaked oats converted me. Then it rotated to basic oats with apples, I believe, for a few weeks. I can't speak to whether that was good, it sounded boring to me. Now, we have overnight oats with turmeric, roasted almonds, & dates. Look, I appreciate the risk involved with innovation. But no one wants yellow oats first thing in the morning. A little turmeric is fantastic. This was way too much. These oats turn the color of vomit, & the additional texture is therefore disgusting. They sprinkled in about four slices of date, which did little to add any sweetness. It was just an overpowering punch of something that didn't belong. The entire dish was 90% yellow vomit slop & 10% "toppings," which were so few I barely ever tasted any. When I made a point to fish them out, & eat spoonfuls that only had toppings, I was done in a few minutes; I was left with an still almost-full container of just yellow slop. Gross, & lazy. Please--whoever is getting those bright ideas in the kitchen--stop. I don't know if it's laziness, financial constraints, or a chef running rampant. We all have limitations. If it's a chef getting "creative," then someone please tell that chef they don't have what it takes, before they ruin the rest of the menu. I'd really like to eat here! Really, I would! Please stop making it so difficult! read more

My second time visiting this restaurant and overall I think it's a very nice place for evening dinner. Upscale vibes and nicely done interior aesthetic in the middle of restaurant row in Oak Brook mall. Service was pretty good, we were there to celebrate a friends birthday and catch up with old friends, I think the server caught on to that and didn't rush us on our orders letting us have all the time we needed to chat. The cocktails were pretty much great we all loved every drink that was ordered. Also had some nice appetizers (Brussels sprouts were a big hit). I ordered the cavatelli chicken bolognese and thought it was delicious.... I had enough to take home and finish for lunch the next day. I would have liked some more options for the entrees on the menu as I didn't feel like there was enough to choose from. I was kind of in the mood for shrimp and they just didn't have that at all so I was a little bummed. And lastly the parking situation isn't ideal for the area in general. Started off with a honey lavender latte and a Kouign aman. The Kouign aman was a lot bigger than I've seen previously but extremely tasty! The lavender latte was good but all the honey and lavender syrup sit at the bottom of the mug so do t make the mistake I made and forget to stir it or else the last sip will be pure honey. I got the A Wonderful White Omelet. I was torn between this and the biscuits and gravy and to be honest wish I had gone with the biscuits and gravy. Don't get me wrong, the omelet was very good, it came with turkey bacon that you can sub for a different protein and it comes with toast. The thing is, it being egg whites only, it's not super filling so I was a bit hungry still after finishing. I've been to the Beatrix locations in River North & Streeterville many of times before, so I know what I'm getting involved in. In general, Beatrix has been a go to of mine for brunch. The thing I enjoy most is that their ingredients are fresh and high quality so I never leave feeling groggy but rather refreshed and rejuvenated. Menu I would say is identical to the other locations. On a recent visit we ended up dropping by for a nightcap. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my ciderhouse old fashioned. Perfect blend of various spices and fruits into a classic cocktail. This location is at the Oakbrook Mall. Parking lot right next to it can be a pain in the booty at times as there's valet that takes up a portion of the lot, so often I'll park up near Saks and stumble down the stairs to get to this one. The southwest salad was so good I've already tried recreating it at home. For dinner I had the fried chicken and my husband had the filet with lobster. The lobster was melt in your mouth. My friends and I drove out to my new favorite suburb to see Chorus Line this past weekend. There are so many delicious options for dinner at the Oak Brook mall and we opted for Beatrix. I've been several times to their city locations and they've never led me wrong and this location was no exception. The valet line was a little long when we arrived at 6pm on a Friday, but one inside we were seated promptly for our reservations. Our party of 4 decided to starts with the chicken meatballs appetizer, which was delicious. For my entree I ordered the ahi poke appetizer and it was soooo delicious that I may need to go back to Beatrix soon. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food and drinks (Rose for me). The service was also great and the timing worked out great with arriving just in time for our 8pm show. The show was just as fabulous as dinner (even seeing it for the 53rd time). I had high hopes for this restaurant since I am a big fan of the other lettuce entertain you restaurants in the Chicago area. Unfortunately my hopes were dashed on the rocks... I tried the whipped feta spread which was missing the feta flavor that I know and love. My dining partner and I decided to try the lemon chicken and fish tacos. Both of which were very expensive and bland as can be. There was no flavor, nothing special, and extremely disappointing. The only item I ended up enjoying was the French fries that came with the chicken. We spent nearly 80 dollars on dinner for 2, I think my money would've been better spent at chili's. The service was extremely slow even though there was hardly anyone else there and plenty of staff. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. read more
