3.26.2026 A visit for breakfast in between appointments in the area--the server was superb this time! He gave us a moment to decide on drinks, brought everything promptly, and didn't judge me too hard for not reading the sign carefully enough and trying to order the limited edition donut that is only available on weekends, haha. I started with the Hazelnut Oat Mocha--so flavorful, smooth, and not too sweet--and chose the Shakshouka as my main entree. "Spicy" tomato sauce, poached eggs, KALE (I didn't read that the first time and am just realizing it now lol), feta, and these cloud pitas that I should have asked if I could buy more of. The tomato sauce wasn't spicy enough for me, which is funny because their spicy rigatoni all vodka kicked my butt on my first visit to Beatrix. The eggs were cooked to perfection and oozed into the sauce so well! I'm still flabbergasted I started my day with kale, haha. I look forward to having more appointments in the area for more lattes and more treats!
Well, so far this place is intolerable with their loud music and crowded, loud conversation. There is a wait, even on the weekdays, without a reservation. Beatrix is located on Oakbrook Mall. Parking is really far away in the cold. This place was horrible and we ended up leaving before we were even seated.
I've been wanting to try Beatrix for a long time, and I finally got the chance to go with a friend during Chicago Restaurant Week--and it did not disappoint! The $45 special included a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), appetizer, entrée, and dessert, and everything was delicious. The highlights for me were the caramel pie and chocolate cake--both were super rich and decadent. I literally had to eat them in "dosages" , but they were so worth it. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu, which made the experience even better. The interior is beautiful--sleek, modern, and inviting. We went on a Thursday night, and parking at Oakbrook Mall was pretty hectic. Thankfully, we found a less crowded spot near The Container Store, which saved us some time and stress. Overall, great food, great service, and a great experience. I'll definitely be back!

Happy Hour Review! A friend and I visited Beatrix to enjoy their happy hour specials. Their larger menu offers a variety of small bites, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. What I love is their curated section of vegetarian and vegan options and knowing that they pride themselves on fresh ingredients. Their happy hour menu offers a variety of discounted drinks, $9 starters, and $12 burgers. When visiting, I got the Old Fashioned cocktail for $8. It was perfectly balanced, served with a clear cube, and garnished with the orange skin. For my food, I debated on a couple things but went with the Chicken Meatballs starter which actually came with (5) meatballs and two slices of garlic bread! I appreciated that the happy hour discount doesn't shrink portions and felt $9 for my food portion was a great value! Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the happy hour experience at Beatrix. Our server was great and the inside of the restaurant is a beautiful atmosphere to enjoy in. I would certainly come back!
Cafe meets brunch spot. This spot is happening as we went in on a Monday (week after the Christmas holiday) and the there was still a wait for a table for 2. However, there's a lot of seating in the waiting area that doubles up as a lounge for those coming in just for the cafe. They're known for their coffee, so I opted to get their specialty strawberry milk with a shot of espresso (matcha is another option for those who are coffee-free) or a strawberry latte technically speaking. The salads were delish. I had the Enlightened Caesar with chicken and my MIL had the Ginger chicken & kale salad. Service was good as expected. They seemed exceptionally busy but were well staffed. Also seems like a hip spot, though family friendly, it seems like the spot for a date or a meetup with your girlfriends. Good food and drink, so would come back again!
We visited Beatrix on a Saturday around noon for brunch. The place was absolutely packed. We had to wait nearly a hour for a table. The restaurant aesthetic was very simple but enough at the same time. There were some couches and occasion chairs to wait in which made it comfortable. When we're seated things moved fairly quickly. Were greeted promptly and our waitress was amazing. Beverages and food arrived quickly and all was thoroughly enjoyed. The bakery had very beautiful pastries and other baked goods. I would recommend and would visit again.
Our first visit to Beatrix was a total win. We loved the vibe right away very modern and inviting, with a great mix of table seating and cozy couch-style spots that make the space feel relaxed yet upscale. Our waitress was wonderful and made the experience even better, and the food truly delivered across the board. The waffles were absolutely delicious, the burger was very good, the chimichurri steak and eggs were amazing, and the shakshuka was perfectly done with great flavor and balance. Hot honey chicken sandwich was really good. Overall, it was a fantastic first visit, and we'll definitely be back. Great atmosphere, great service, and great food ... highly recommend.
I had honestly never heard of Beatrix prior to this week, and I'm so glad I made it in for brunch! The decor is absolutely stunning, and I was surprised at how busy it was for a Tuesday morning! I highly recommend making a reservation (we did). I am a sucker for a dry sparkling rose, and was very excited to see that Beatrix offers a delicious one on their menu. I also had the smashed avocado toast with a side of scrambled eggs. All was absolutely divine! Staff were attentive and nice, rounding out our entire positive experience.
Food was delicious, but a bit of disorganization drops Beatrix down to a 4. We arrived for our 2:45p brunch reservation early at 2:20p and were told that we'd be seated as soon as a table opens up. We ended up waiting a half hour despite there being numerous empty tables at that point. We were then told by the host that they were shifting to the dinner menu and that the kitchen was turning over so we wouldn't receive any food for another half hour which was surprising considering we had the reservation for 2:45p and arrived early. Ultimately we didn't receive food until 3:40p. It would've been a much better experience if they didn't take reservations for times when they don't plan to serve food, or at the very least it would've been considerate to have been told that we'd have to wait for a dinner menu as soon as we arrived. All that being said, our server was very nice and all the food was very delicious and fresh (I guess the perks of having a 3:30p dinner!). For apps, the chicken meatballs were super cozy yummy, served with a buttery garlic bread. The buffalo cauliflower was one of the best I've ever had, lightly fried with a tangy buffalo sauce with a hint of sweetness that really added something special. For mains, the Korean crispy tenders were actually cutlets. However they were very light and crispy with a tasty, not overdressed slaw and a delicious gochujang honey mustard. The green chile enchiladas had a super yummy kick. The vegan panang curry has great flavor and again a perfect spice level. And then the spicy rigatoni was the ultimate comfort food, exactly what you hope it will taste like! You'll enjoy the food, but if you have a late brunch res, pack snacks and be prepared to have dinner instead!
I was really impressed by Beatrix. I was worried it was going to be small portions for a high price. But, every dish that my family and I got was very good! I tried a little bit of each dish and can confirm it was all amazing. We tried the spicy rigatoni alla vodka, parmesan crusted whitefish, faroe islands salmon, and french onion short rib. The fish was cooked perfectly and was not dry. The spicy rigatoni was actually spicy and had great flavor. And to end the night, we got their caramel pie. It was my father's birthday and they kindly placed a candle on the pie and gave it to us for free. The caramel pie was probably my favorite thing we got. I have never had anything like it. It was not too sweet and very smooth. The pie reminded me of a pumpkin pie but thicker and creamier (and of course caramel flavored). Definitely check out Beatrix if you are looking for a more upscale restaurant with good food to match the ambience!
I came here for the Chicago restaurant week lunch menu. The restaurant interior is very warm and inviting. Definitely a popular lunch spot for a lot of workers in the Oak Brook area. I made a reservation for 12 pm and the restaurant was already pretty packed on a Tuesday. Service was friendly and inviting. They're taking care of a lot of tables but still came by a few times to check in. I started off with the whipped feta appetizer, which was more sweet than I expected. The honey gave it a nice depth and the texture was amazing. It reminded me of mascarpone with how creamy it was. The chips made out of seeds gave the dish a nice texture and crunch. The chicken ginger kale salad was light and refreshing. Every piece of the salad was the perfect bite size and easy to pick up, which I appreciated. I loved the hints of coconut when you took a bite. The chicken was perfectly tender as well. The star of this meal was probably the caramel pie. It's the perfect silky texture and oh so decadent. I would come back to Beatrix just for this pie. If Dulce de leche was a pie, it would taste like this. read more
The restaurant is nice inside. They have a coffee bar, liquor bar, a nice seating area with couches and chairs and then a decent size dining area. The service was good and the server was nice and helpful. We tried the fries as an appetizer. They were perfectly crisp with a little spice with crispy chilis and a lemon aioli on the side. I tried the blueberry non alcoholic drink and enjoyed it. The salad was very fresh and flavorful. My sister enjoyed the whitefish. Proportions were generous. I will come back! read more

Conveniently located and nice ambiance inside. We started with the guacamole. It was satisfactory, but could've used more seasoning and more chips for dipping. We asked for a few more chips. Our server put in an order for a plate of chips - extra $3.95 on bill - without telling us. We did not need a full order of chips for the two spoonfuls guac we had left. For entrees, we tried the whitefish, the primer burger and the short ribs. My son enjoyed his burger and rated it an 8/10. His fries were tasty, but they came in small pieces, like he got the fries from the end of the bag. My whitefish was good, but needed more seasoning. The mashed potatoes were delicious and I liked the sauce. The short rib dish was the best thing I tried all night. The meat was tender and flavorful as well as the brussel sprouts and potato puree. Overall, this was a nice place to have dinner. Our server wasn't the greatest in terms of energy or service but not bad. read more
I took my teenage niece and nephew here for lunch because I had an appointment in the area. It was pretty busy for an early Monday lunch. But I mean it's by the corporate and mall area so it makes sense. Our waitress was really nice. We got the Brussels spouts to share and that was really good! It was sweet and savory, well balanced flavors. I got the burger and honestly it was so underwhelming and lacked a lot of flavor. The kids got the hot honey chicken sandwich and I tried a bite and it needed more of the hot honey. Overall, it was okay. They liked their drinks though. They got the Dubai chocolate matcha. Bottom line: Loft-look night club crashes into college cafeteria. Came to Beatrix Restaurant, Coffee Bar, and Market for a birthday brunch (Not sure about the coffee bar part nor the market actually though they do have what looks like a real alcohol bar.) Visually, it is an inviting vibe, but with rather loud ambient noise amplified by lots of hard surfaces, and overlaid with an eclectic mix of interdecadal beats you can just make out floating on top of the din (Thompson Twins "Doctor, Doctor " happens to be the ditty of the moment). Aside from the décor, the place may remind you of any large institutional cafeteria you've experienced. The best thing about this place for me is the mid-century modern-influenced décor and the use of warm lighting and palette to soften the mostly hard surfaces--and my sandwich bun and bacon. Our servers were all very nice but inexperienced, tentative, and still learning the biz but trying very hard. Ok, the food: Nouvel-blah. Smaller, non-abbondanza portions for the money. Trying very hard, a little pretentious, but you gotta justify the prices--and image is what matters here (on that note, servers wearing blue jeans and dirty gym shoes severely takes some luster off the upscale image). My $14 breakfast sandwich (see pic for its apathetic delivery) did not include any side. THE saving grace was...the bun...OK, and the bacon. The bun a luscious, buttery complement to the tangy, crispy bacon and scrambled eggs. Props where props are due but you think for $14 you'd get a few potatoes thrown in. Surprisingly though, the coffee service, though it appears in the name, was quite unremarkable. Servers brought out coffee-filled cups, not what you typically find in a coffee house but more like someone's china set, sloshing as they tried to balance the tray with six cups on it, then placing the coffee in front of us, as opposed to, placing the cups on the table and then pouring the coffee. Interesting. Overall, I added a star for the very, very nice servers, the bun, and the bacon. I would come back if someone else was paying. In summary, If you are looking for a chill, satisfying vibe, this is not it, but if you're looking for a sensorially stimulating experience, this may just be your cup of single‑origin micro‑lot coffee--if you can find the coffee bar. I've been here several times and I love coming here for lunch!! It's a very nice lunch spot without being too fancy. I've brought my infant several times and they are very accommodating. It seems like a lot of people take work lunches here too. I've heard the happy hour is good. It's always busy. I haven't needed a reservation but I can see why you may want one for a larger group. The food is unique and healthy. Haven't had anything we don't like! Try the whipped feta as a starter, those seeded crackers are some of our faves. read more
In Chicago proper Beatrix has always been a popular option but admittedly not my first choice. In Oak Brook Center, Beatrix is an anchor restaurant that is right on the outer parts of the shopping center. I prefer this location because it's less of the hustle and bustle since in the burbs. Great place to grab breakfast as well as do some work.! Service is very good here and they let me take an hour call too at my table! #coffee #work read more

The place was really nice, super nice aesthetic and atmosphere in there. My partner got there first to which he mentioned the table was unstable but we got a new seat immediately right after. I ordered a hazelnut mocha latte and my partner ordered a chai latte. Both extremely delicious. I got the shakshuka with brown sugar bacon and he got a burrito with hasbrowns. They were both absolutely delicious, the shakshuka tasted amazing and the bacon was crispy, sweet and delicious. Everything tasted amazing and the atmosphere was so nice although it was pretty pricey for sure. I would rate it a 4.5. read more

Brunchin' with my bestie at this spot was a total win! I loved how simple and easy the breakfast menu was -- made ordering a breeze. We split a chicken sandwich and a waffle, both were delicious! We also tried the espresso martini and a Pour Decisions cocktail. Everything was yummy. Even though the restaurant was packed, the service was still super friendly and fast. This was my first dining experience at Beatrix, but as I told our server, this won't be my last! I also told her that I would order the same exact meal for my next visit. This was a large, comfortable restaurant at Oakbrook Center. I reserved a table through the website but there was plenty of seating outside (too hot) as well as inside the restaurant. We were seated in the back by the kitchen where we had a view of some young people probably dining before Homecoming ( how sweet). We split an app of Kennebeck fries with preserved lemons, Calabrian chiles and aioli. It was crisp and delicious. I nibbled on a pepper, it was spicy. My entree was the slow cooked short rib with succulent tender meat in a sweet and hot sauce (red chili caramel) and some roasted Brussels sprouts. It was on top of a creamy potato. I thought the hot and sweet sauce, and the short rib was so good. My friend enjoyed their hot honey chicken. The service was friendly but it lagged a bit. Otherwise, a really enjoyable meal with a lot of options, even veg and vegan. read more

I really enjoyed this breakfast, my waiter and the decor. I was in and out. Not quick enough to feel rushed but fast enough to feel taken care of. I tried the hazel nut chocolate latte and the egg white omelet. The bacon ended up tasting like crispy oil but the rest was amazing. The coffee had just enough flavor while keeping its strength. The omelet filled with spinach and cheese was topped with a salsa. The mixture was delicious and fresh. I needed a little heat so I added tabasco. I also added jelly to my toast. Delish. Whenever I'm back in town this is a must visit for me now. read more
What a lovely space. This is where healthy meets delicious; trendy menu items using newly harvested ingredients with fresh squeezed juices. There is also a drool worthy pastry counter with cookies, bars, scones and even pies. My husband started with a medium roast coffee; light cream and sugar. I started with a fresh juice; strawberry, watermelon and black cherry. My husband ordered the eggs your way; scrambled with white cheddar, hash browns, brown sugar bacon and wheat toast. I just had to try the lemon pancakes; made with ricotta, light and fluffy with blackberries and lemon syrup. Our server was super sweet and even delivered an almond muffin with a lighted candle to my husband. Wonder how she knew. On our way out, we stopped by the pastry counter and got cookies for later. I order my lunch here frequently and breakfast at times. I came to pick up my order today and my coffee looked not done right. Barista at the bar told me "oh it looks like it deflated let me just add more milk". I said please don't do that that's not going to fix it. Instead of offering to make new coffee she walked away from me and rolled her eyes and made a face. Please, please train your staff to not do that in today's world. Beatrix's cafe is known for their baked good, especially their cookies!!! I love checking out the bakery counter before getting a table. You can order from a server and they can bring it to you at a sitdown. It's a fun dessert destination if you have a group of friends. This was my second time dining in at this Beatrix location. My opinions about Beatrix's food hasn't changed since the first time. Both times, I felt that the food was disappointing, especially for the price point. I frequent Beatrix for their coffee and pastries, which I highly recommend. However, I cannot say the same for the food. The menu has lots of options. This time, we ordered the hot honey brussel sprouts, slow cooked short rib and hot honey fried chicken. The hot honey brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy and the hot honey sauce is so good. Unfortunately, the short rib lacked flavor. The different flavors of the dish from the sweet potatoes and red chili caramel weren't cohesive. The fried chicken was well fried, but lacked flavor. The kale and apple slaw was not slaw - it was sliced apple, radish and kale tossed together. The cornbread was the best thing on the dish. I'll definitely continue coming to Beatrix for coffee and pastries, but not for food. read more
Beatrix is pretty much a staple in my family. We enjoy eating here for both breakfast and dinner. We recently visited for family dinner when we had relatives visiting. We enjoyed the Kennebec Fries and Popovers for starters. My family enjoyed the fries so much that another order was requested when the entrees came. 3 of my family members tried the spirit-free mocktails, and they were pleasantly surprised at how tasty and refreshing they were. For my entrée, I couldn't decide between the Wild Mushroom Teriyaki Bowl and the Faroe Island Salmon Bowl, so I asked our server for a recommendation. She said she enjoyed the flavor of the mushroom bowl the best but recommended adding salmon to it. That's exactly what I did, and I was not disappointed. My Dad typically orders the Mushroom & Quinoa Burger, and though he always enjoys it, after I let her taste my mushroom bowl, he said he would order that next time. I took a slice of Hummingbird Cake home. Our server described it as a carrot cake with warm spices, and she was spot on. It was a great way to cap off an already tasty meal. While I don't recall our server's name, I must say that she was extremely knowledgeable. She was able to answer every question we asked (and our table asked A LOT lol), but she answered in great detail. She knew flavor profiles about everything from the beer to the desserts and everything in between. We enjoyed her so much that my uncle even asked her to take a picture with him afterward. Came here with my girl friends for a celebration during their happy hour. We ordered everything on the appetizer menu which was enough to feed for 3 people. The portion was great, pricing was reasonable, and the service was wonderful. The interior design and the vibe was cozy with a modern touch. Definitely coming back to try other dishes on the menu. read more

This Queso Dip was a meal in and of itself! I opted to not eat it with fried chips and instead was provided gratis corn tortillas. The pistachio crusted whitefish was perfectly prepared-flaky and light. I suggest that you squeeze lemon to cut the salt. My server Jack was not attentive enough as I had to call over another wait staff member twice, but he was pretty swamped so I still say 5 stars! The real on the menu is the "Oh my! Caramel Pie." This is one of the best desserts I've ever eaten and the Espresso Martini was the perfect compliment. read more
Met a friend here for brunch and who knew it was the hottest spot in town??? Okay well she did which is why she made a reservation weeks in advance, and I recommend you do the same! I couldn't believe when I showed up just before 11 am on a Sunday the place was PACKED! Luckily we were seated within minutes of our reservation and the table was spacious! Everything was fantastic. The coffees were incredible. My friend had a cinnamon roll latte and got a dulce de leche iced latte to go. I had the iced hazelnut oat mocha and it was so creamy and delicious!! Funny enough we ordered the exact same thing to eat: their bacon cheddar and egg sandwich! I was most intrigued about the brown sugar bacon so I took a bite of that first and it was SO good. The sandwich was great and I used the aioli without finding it spicy (and I find everything spicy). We both ordered hash brown sides as well which were large portions. I would recommend if you like yours crispy to ask for them crispy. As you can see in the attached pic, ours came out with varying amounts of crispiness. First time trying Shakshouka and loved it! We came to Beatrix for a birthday brunch and it was the perfect more upscale vibe. Everyone at the table loved their food and I felt the portion sizes were perfect as well (which often isn't the case with breakfast foods). Came in for Christmas Eve dinner and seated right on time with 5:00 reservations. We ordered and then I went to the bakery to grab some goods to go ahead of time. Be productive while watching my family was all on their phones anyways. I bought a 6 pack box of cookies( $19.99). This makes the perfect gift for someone btw. They are huge. Larger than crumble. The box is cute too! It works out being a better price. The lemon was going to be my favorite ( $5.95) - it was up there but don't ask me to pick favorites when it comes to cookies. Strangely the cream cheese coffee cake cookie, I kind of ate it so quick I didn't even get to share it. My family loved the almond joy. It tasted just like the candy bar. The Nutella I thought would be our youngest son's fave but he was like " gimme more of the almond joy". As for the dark chocolate chip cookie. Standard and tasty. Oh whoops, I started with dessert. That's right we did eat dinner first... I ordered the whitefish with fries on the side vs mashed potatoes. It was so soft and moist. Sitting on top of the dreamiest lemon butter sauce with a few cubed tomatoes and a sprig of chicory I think on top. It was truly delishous. So delishous i let go of the cold fries. Until my husband chimed in after our 16 yo said my chicken tortillas or whatever that was, I don't even feel like I ate. So I let him have my fries. Then the cold part kicked in :( I'm kind of a fry freak so when I eat them which I don't do often because I watch what I eat pretty carefully. I want them hot, salted just right and easy to not stop eating. So that was a bummer. My husband was irritated about the minimal portions for the price. Then there was a 3% added onto total bill before tip which put him over the edge I do love their mushroom burger so next time I'm just going to grab one to go and get the bakery to go to. We did not go to bed hungry. We ate 5 cookies ( I may have eaten 2 by myself as we were walking to the car through the mall ;) I love this place. The inside is cool and the food is great. The 4 is for the cold fries and the amount of food for the cost. I know I could have said something about the fries but I didn't want to make a scene which unfortunately turned into one. read more

We stopped in for a Saturday brunch. The place was pretty crowded, but we got one of the tables in the bar area. The ambience is so welcoming and cozy. We got the shakshouka - came with pita on the side. It was soo flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. We also got the ranchero breakfast burrito - it was so light, yet filling. The scrambled eggs were so fluffy and the salsa on the side was quite tasty. We got the pumpkin cream cheese coffee cake which was sooo good, not too sweet and good flavor. We also got coffee black and the apple butter latte - one of the best coffees I've ever had!! Might come back just for the coffee. The service was great...we were not rushed out..we took our time with the coffee and pastry. Overall a solid 5!! read more
