I took a 6am conditioning class on a Tuesday via ClassPass, and had a really great workout. If it's your first time, you should arrive early in order to sign the waiver. If you check in on Yelp, your first class is free for first-timers. You can borrow gloves there, but I would also suggest bringing your own bandages so your knuckles don't blister. It was just two people in class, so our instructor Yo really helped provided feedback on our forms. She was encouraging but also helpful in her suggestions. Would be great if they actually opened and had classes when they said they had classes. Came here Thursday at 5:30 PM for BEASTIE and the whole studio was closed. A group of people who signed up were outside confused too. One of them texted Cedric and he said the class was cancelled. I think they had been trying to close this studio for a while but for some reason decided to keep it open--except it's not open when it's supposed to be. If this review was only for the workout- I'd give Beastie 100 stars. It's an intense, calorie burning workout, but the Staff and attitude definitely need a makeover. I've been to Beastie a handful of times and it's ALWAYS the same routine with the Trainers: the class starts at 6 am, and the Instructor walks in the door at 5:59 am. I just don't understand how they can run a business this way. One minute before the class starts, the lights are completely off, there's no time to warm up, the room is cold, and many of the regulars waltz in 15 minutes late. For a fitness studio that prides itself on "Show up, give 1000%, Be a Winner, fall 7 times- get up 8, The will must be stronger, inspire others....unstoppable, relentless, determined.... The Trainers are not leading by example. It's really a bummer, the workout is amazing. I would seriously come to this studio every single day of the week if the Instructors practiced what they preached and the attitude changed. read more

I have been a client of Cedric's for over 8 years, he has consistently gotten me in the best shape of my life over that time. I stopped seeing him when I made the move to Santa Monica, as the drive was too far but was bummed when my wedding was 3 weeks out and I wasn't happy with the results I was seeing from my new trainer. The workout here is INSANE. Forget about LIT method, Barry's Bootcamp or Soulcycle, Beastie puts those places to SHAME. So 6 months later I've dropped all of the baby weight and THEN some, with drastic body fat percentage reductions. When I started going to Beastie, I had to take a week long break because I was so out of shape. When I came back from break, the workouts were hard, but I never gave up. Now, I can do the majority of the workouts without a problem. I went from working out three times a week to six times a week and I love it. My energy and confidence levels are up due to all of the weight I lost. I am now able to wear a ski outfit I brought last year that couldn't even go past my thighs. Now I can put them on, zip them up and move comfortably in them. Going to Beastie Gym is the best thing that I have done for myself in a long time. I even feel guilty if I miss a day due to work or vacation, but I make sure to get back in the gym as soon as possible. I plan to maintain this healthy lifestyle that I have started for myself. I learned how to treat myself to a better way of life through exercise, vacation, and eating everything in moderation. This is no doubt one of the toughest workouts I've ever done! I took the 630pm Thursday class with Cedric and I left fully satisfied and motivated to come again! No one was at the front desk. No staff working to help. I waited for 10 minutes and had no clue what to do, where to get changed, etc. Um.... It would have been my first class/first time boxing which I was super excited to try. I submitted a form on the website the day before letting them know it was my first time and that I would be attending the class at 6:30pm the next day. No response back either. When I arrived, there wasn't any staff working, I waiting for about ten minutes, still no one. I got fed up and left. We to a workout class next door where, like every other NORMAL studio, a front desk person was actually there! Don't waste your time going here. No staff and gym looked dirty anyways. read more

Beastie boxing gym in Manhattan Beach is the best boxing class and full body work out in Los Angeles! I have tried all kinds of workouts and this is the best fullbody w/ a little hard hitting (bags) for good measure. I used to train with Billy Blanks back when he owned and ran his studio in LA- this is better and Billy Blanks is hard to beat! The owner Cedric is an amazing person who inspires me to work hard in and out of the class! He also gives back and pays it forward to his/our greater LA community through helping the homeless and in mentoring kids through projects with local schools!!! Plenty of bag and mitt work plus kettle bells and full body hiit routines but no sparring/ which I prefer. Boutique gym close to the beach with a family feel to it. All the instructors are great and MEMBERSHIPS are WORTH IT! Ditch classpass!!!! I lost 30llbs working out here. Everytime I try a new class somewhere else- instructors and class mates always ask me where/how I work out and compliment me on my lean/toned physique.. All the credit goes to Beastie! I love Beastie's gym and the Best trainer in the world Cedric, working out at Beastie's it's an experience that I have never encountered when it comes to working out it's not for the WEAK or the FAINT at heart it's a MINDSET. These workouts will push you to places that you didn't know you could go and places you have to go to get the results you're looking for. When I first started working out I could barely complete an entire work out. But thanks to Cedric, the amazing support, and energy in the gym I am not only able to complete an entire work out but the results have been amazing.
