Mixed feelings about Nation's Pure…read more First got a quote for a water softening and under sink RO from Culligan for $9000. Then Nation's Pure quoted me $8000. Culligan agreed to match the price. Then the sales rep from Nation's Pure dropped the price down to $4000. So that just tells you a bit regarding how much margin is built into these systems if they can cut 50% of the price at the drop of a hat. I probably could have pushed to have it reduced even further. The 6-month service fees got to be too much too. Want to say they were $125-$150 first few years, last time I think it was as high as $265. They did provide 6 x 40 or 50 lb bags of salt, however it's cheaper for me to go to Home Depot and buy salt there instead. You can also buy 3 years worth of filters for what you will pay for just one single service call which is wild. I'm also still having issues with corrosion and sediment in our water heater, enough do that it caused a non-fixable seal to corrode on our $12K water heater, which had to be replaced but was luckily covered by a warranty. According to the plumbers, they said they see a lot of issues with water heaters going out faster from water softeners due to higher salt levels in the water. I would agree with this sentiment as our tap water is so salty that if you have the smallest cut anywhere on your body and take a shower / bath, it's like pouring salt on an open wound. First time I heard my boys scream out in pain in the shower I thought they were just exaggerating, but no, it really does hurt, especially depending on where the cut, scrape, etc is. It also seems like I have to change filters out on the RO faster than 6 months as the water develops a pretty nasty taste within the first 3-4 months and when I change out the filters they are already pretty dirty, and wouldn't have wanted to wait the 6 months to a year that some of them aren't supposed to be changed till. I am sure the bigger filters for the water softening unit are coming up on needing to be changed, but I intend to find alternatives and if necessary, pay another water filter company to swap out their system for one that doesn't rely on a salt based system. No major issues with the techs, but just feel a bit like we were sold a false bill of goods. Would have been better off putting in a RO filter system under our sink and calling it a day for a couple hundred bucks, instead of $4K plus however many service calls I paid for before discontinuing them. It also would have been nice if they'd built the aluminum housing in such a way that you could more easily read the bigger filter gages.

Since I have well water , last year they installed a specific custom water filtration system in my kitchen and serviced my water system in the garage and well as! BEWARE!! This contractor was assigned to us through our Home Warranty Company, American Home Shield…read more(that's a whole other story) on September 3rd, for a failed hot water heater, and was acknowledged by them on the same date. Swat Plumbing said they could not get us in until September 8th because it was a holiday weekend. So, here is where I'd like to point out, that if you go to their website, this is what is stated on the home page; "Precision Plumbing Deployed Fast. 24/7 emergency plumbing across Aledo, Fort Worth, and surrounding North Texas communities. Upfront pricing. Rapid dispatch. No surprises." Well, I just want to say this was NOT our experience. It gets worse from there. Tuesday, September 8th comes (now 6 days with NO hot water) and there has been no contact from Swat Plumbing on even a time frame, so I decide to pick up the phone and ask if they can give me an estimate. After being put on hold THREE times (by a very confused dispatcher), I am told "the technician had an emergency and didn't make it into work today, so can you do Thursday". WHAT??? I tell her that this is an emergency, we've had NO hot water for SIX days now, and they should move one of their regular service appointments to make time for an emergency. The dispatcher tells me "that's not how it works". REALLY??? We own an electrical contracting company, and that's how it works for us (and, I'm thinking for any other reputable company who cares about their customers). Fast forward to today, Thursday, September 10th, and we actually get a technician out to our house, who "diagnoses" our hot water heater and states "LEAKING , GOT A HOLE IN IT, needs a permit and code modifications are to pass the inspection". There are NO permits required in our area (we're in the County), therefore NO code modifications are required!! The home warranty company will cover the cost of the hot water heater, but will not cover the cost of the "modifications". It is VERY obvious that Swat Plumbing has very unethical practices by giving FALSE information to the Home Warranty Company and trying to obtain an extra $1,098 from a Senior Citizen!!
