As much as I like this course, it was incredibly disappointing. From being hassled by a Marshall ( lying to our group about our progress ) and the poor conditions of the course. Specifically the fairways were terrible, the tee boxes were not just uneven but lacked any sort of grass that resembled a somewhat healthy tee off area. This could be a far superior course but lacked the proper care to charge these prices. It would be difficult to recommend this course to friends or anyone else... what a shame. read more

Wife and I are members here. Wife is a stick. Me not so much. What doesn't take any experience is seeing the change already this year. They are working very hard on tee boxes, greens, places that dry up. And the topography on this course makes the "dry up" a very real thing and they are working incredibly hard to keep that at bay. From the top down in their personnel, they are all working to make this the best experience possible for anyone who comes here. Do not blame management for a difficult course. This will keep you humble at times, but that's part of the challenge. From the people who meet and greet you at the carts to the people in the pro shop, the food and beverage people downstairs all the way to the top of management...there is a new purpose and vision for what this course can be and they are stopping at nothing to make sure it happens. Looking forward to changes from now to the end of the year as well as next year. They just keep chipping off things that haven't been dealt with for a while. Well done BMR! read more

Great golf course; worst golf experience of my life. Course personnel completely mismanaged the play. Waits of 5-10 minutes between shots, longer on tee boxes. They allowed a couple with their 8 year old son to attempt shots and then run retrieve his ball and hit again. This happened multiple times while we waited to hit behind them. When discussed with the Marshall, he just blew it off. Saw him at hole 4 then never saw him again. They provided carts to a group who weren't playing the course and they just drove around the course taking in the views. Totally disrupted play as they drove the opposite direction on the paths. They allowed a 6-some to play together. When we provided feedback at the clubhouse requesting to speak with the general manager they gave weak condolences and blew us off. That was the most expensive miserable round of golf in my life. Though I love the course I will never play there again. read more

A solid 3.5 stars. Stunning views, excellent greens, great staff. First off, if you can't drive off the green 235+ yards, make sure to move up a tee either to whites, or junior tees. If you are stubborn and refuse to play to your true tee distance you will suffer greatly and thats YOUR FAULT! The reason? There are some holes that you need to carry hazards, some holes that feel you are climbing Everest. there are holes that have blind shots, there are holes with fairways that roll. So do yourself a favor and play to your true distance off the tee and if you do, you will love this course. The views are stunning. Perched atop Lake Chelan, this is a great example of what the great PNW has to offer. The PNW is so beautiful because only rare places in the world can you see Snow Capped White Mountains, Ultra Blue Lakes, Gorgeous Blue Skies, and Soothing Green Foliage all blended together. Bear Mountain sits on a mountain and you feel on top of it all. Conditions are always top notch, fast beautiful greens, lush fairways, clean tee boxes. Now that I got the beauty described, heres comes the tough parts. Quite a few uphill holes that will swallow up your weak drives and approach shots. Bring your game on point or these uphill holes can put some black marks on your scorecard. The blind shots on a couple holes for first timers can leave you confused. If you don't bring your game, this course can cause you to question playing golf. If you bring your appreciation for beauty and nature, this course will so glad you visited. It's the Ying and Yang so balance your expectations and always come out on the positive side. read more

Need to know where to miss and where to absolutely not to hit or you're in jail. Definitely helps to play it a few times before you really enjoy it. Grain on the greens make them extra difficult to read and putt and can really kill you if not used to. read more

Tough course just because of all the ups and downs, side hill lies, thick stuff on the sides, don't have clue where you are hitting too. Some of the best views of the lake there are. Had lots of fun with the couple I played with. Got to like a tough course now and then. read more

On a 36 hole trip to Gamble Sands over the US Open weekend, we decided to add Bear Mountain Ranch to the weekend plan. It was a wise decision that was evident as soon as we stepped onto the property. The staff was extremely friendly and the course was a lot of fun to play. I particularly enjoyed the front nine that wraps around a mountain side with some stunning views overlooking Lake Chelan. I asked my friend John to give me his input on this course "Great start, good shoe selection, good halfway house, nice people, good breakfast sandwiches, no bears, good greens, fun elevation change holes." -9.5 index, played with a -5, -6 and +1.7 to round out our group. Came off of four rounds in two days at Gamble Sands (which was incredible) and added this to the trip. Unfortunate that we played during COVID. Pro shop staff was curt and unaccommodating and the course was in absolute trash condition. Greens were moldy and patchy, dirt patches in many fairways and a few of the holes are so gimmicky and clowny. We just kept laughing the whole time and wondering how this place is ranked so highly. We talked to the pro shop afterward and asked if the course was always in that bad of shape, and his answer was, "That's what happens when you build a golf course into the side of a mountain." If the course is in this type of condition, at least have the integrity to charge half price like Circling Raven did for us last week. Hope this helps! read more

Talk about gorgeous! If anybody asks me where to play golf in Lake Chelan my first recommendation would be Bear Mountain Ranch. The course is beautifully kept and the views make the rather high price point worthwhile. Breathtaking views of Lake Chelan can be found on what seems like every single hole. The wide fairways allow you to spray the ball without getting into too much trouble. An ample putting green and a driving range provide sufficient practice facilities before teeing off. What makes this course difficult is the elevation change. The uphill par 4 13th has to be the steepest hole I've ever played. Measuring in at right around 300 yards, it plays closer to 400 and is incredibly challenging for those that can't get loft on their tee shots. The service at this course is excellent. By the time you step out of your car, attendants are waiting at your trunk with your cart ready to help you load your clubs. The pro shop is friendly and very informative. I only wish they had a cart serving drinks on the course. read more

Beautiful views ! Unfortunately not the course of years past. New management and new groundskeeper are hopefully just experiencing a learning curve. The course is very beautiful and in great shape but you better be a decent golfer to play a decent round. We played on a Monday so the green fees were reduced to $54 dollars (I think) so the value was certainly there. I just have a hard time with blind shots and hitting off slopes. On a different note, there was bear sightings two days in a row. read more

The worst golf for the most money. Arrived June 9 with two friends for a noon tee time. There was no one at the golf cart area and no one in the pro shop. A woman came in a few minutes later saying "Oh, I didn't know anyone was here!" After paying the $70 green fees, we teed off to find the course deserted and in terrible condition. Recently punched greens (in June??) which were poorly sanded and badly in need of water. Some of the cups were installed with too much force, leaving a large depression around the cup. Fairways mown too short leaving very tight lies on brown fairways. We will not be back. read more

This course is beautiful. It is very difficult and also one of the best values around Lake Chelan for serious golfers. I played here for less money than it cost to play at Lake Chelan Municipal, and the two courses do not compare. Bear Mountain has so many majestic holes with incredible elevation changes and constant views of the lake. It is really a treat to play here with incredible service that starts the instant you pull into the parking lot. You will be greeted immediately by someone delivering you a golf cart. The expansive ranch allows for very unique holes that do not get crowded right next to one another. read more

This is a nice golf course, but lots of blind holes. The first hole of the day don't. E fooled by the false fairway hit left, no matter what the staff says. 3 of us hit our ball to the right 3 of us had to take drops. As a nearby resident in North Central Washington, we cherish our visits to Bear Mountain Ranch. The course plays difficult, but with five tees everyone can find a tee to match their talents if not their ego. We always play in the afternoon, when the sun is setting over Lake Chelan and the course. Priceless. There are some truly memorable holes, large greens, dropping elevations. Now, there are a few climbing holes that play a bit awkward. Get over it quickly and focus on all that is good at Bear Mountain. Save some gas in your tank for hole #18, a long par five with a creek crossing to top it all off. Give it your best shot and walk away with a smile on your face for the whole experience. This is a must play course and combines well with Desert Canyon, across the Columbia River near Orondo, WA for those folks from out of town. It is shares ownership as of 2012. Great service and amazing architectural elements. You'll see! read more
