Lakeside Park is one of the many public lake access points in the town of Chelan. It's nothing special but includes a long dock, beach area, and plenty of views of Lake Chelan heading deep into the mountains. Unfortunately, it was cloudy my first time in Chelan, obscuring my view of the snow-capped mountains in the distance. Nevertheless, it was a stunning view. Some fishermen in a boat trolled by, casting into the shallows, while I was standing on the dock. They didn't seem to be catching anything. I looked below the clear water at my feet and noticed large carp-like fish swimming around. This prompted me to grab my fishing rod and attempt to catch one of the monsters. Similar to my failure to catch the large carp that swim in Wisconsin rivers, the fish never showed more than mild interest. As I stood at the dock, failing to catch any of the fish, two bald eagles flew overhead. One landed on the top of a tall tree. Shortly after, the second eagle nose-dived, talons extended, into the eagle on the tree. They both crashed through the tree branches, claws digging into each other, like two superheroes fighting as they fell through a building. The commotion terrified the teenagers walking below. As the eagles passed through the final branch, they both extended their wings and glided away, looking for other trees where they could continue the fight. The park was worth it just to see that.

This beach goes. Went yesterday and it was crackin'. I'm not from around here. I was nice to see like minded crowd of people. Good times. I wanted to drink a beer or two but wasn't sure how strictly inforced the no alcohol rule is. I took a star for that. Random thoughts.. Dock jumping. Kids peeing in the lake. Pretty Mexican women. Bathroom was clean. Would be nice to have a room at the hotel next to this beach. Basketball court++ So much shade. +++

Crystal blue waters to jumped into. Very relaxing and quiet area. They have benches and tables to eat on, swings, volleyball near by. I love the small walk way that floats on the lake, walkable and stable. Beautiful views. There's also bathrooms and soda vending machine nearby. I recommend this place if you want to relax and enjoy the views. I would swim and jump in the water!

    This place is beautiful.

Ask the Community - Lakeside Park

    Are dogs allowed?

Yes, I believe so. The city has a poop-bag dispenser on a post as you enter the park. Having said that, I don't typically see dogs down there when the park is busy... but I just may not be looking for same...

    Are bbq grills allowed?

yes, many people bring them and no one really says anything.

Of all the public lakefront recreational areas around Chelan, Don Morse Memorial Park is always our…read morego-to place whenever we're in town. Parking will run you $10 (2 hours) or $15 (6 hours). There is also a 24-hr rate, but I can't recall what it is. For the best parking access, utilize the lot adjacent to the Lakeshore RV Park (TIP: If there's a line at the parking lot pay station, or it's out-of-order, you can pay for parking at the Lakeshore RV Park Front Gate). The parking lot can easily fill up by 11 AM or noon on weekends and spring/summer holidays, so keep this in mind when considering the day of the week you'll be visiting and when you plan to arrive. The park's grounds include a skate park, sand volleyball pits, basketball courts, playground, concession stand, grassy areas, restrooms, some tree-shaded spots, picnic tables, good-sized beach and roped-off swimming area. There's also a boat launch and marina (where it's possible to fish). A go-kart track and miniature golf course are situated in-between the marina (south) parking lot and the RV (north) parking lot, but these are privately run businesses. The only negative of Don Morse Memorial Park is the hourly rate (and maybe the capacity) of the parking lot. Despite this, I still think this park deserves a 5-star review--it's just too good in terms of the layout and amenities it offers.

Large beach area and lots of parking. Plus sand volleyball courts. Super fun day with our friends and family. We enjoy it here and can walk to town. There is a sign on the door that says no hot water. That's fine, whatever, tent campers get cold showers while paying for full hookups like we did so we could have electricity but we get cold showers because we are sleeping in tents. But this was not the issue. The issue is that the hot water is turned on sometimes... and there is no warning and no way to regulate the temp that comes out of the shower head. For whatever reason the faucet, while turning left and right - effects nothing. Now, if the water coming out was a nice warm 105 to 110 degrees that would be fine. But this was so hot it burned my daughters head and she only had it under the shower for the time it took to turn the water on, scream and move away. So, I went and got my meat thermometer and tested it. 167 degrees Fahrenheit. I highly doubt the legal department at PUD is aware of the water temperature streaming out of that shower head. One more thing about that water. We were told they turned on the hot water because the water for one of the RV'ers wasn't working. What? I'm confused on this tidbit. We also bought an RV space. Why the plain discrimination against tenters who are paying full rates? Why not warm water for all? But please, before that, fix the temperature problem first. If my daughter had been 2 instead of 21 her skin would have blistered and there would've been a hospital trip. Other than the hot water issue the campground is very nice, windy like a tropical storm, but beautiful. Be aware, camping has recently changed to reservation only.

It's a regular thing. There's a power station nearby, hence the name, and you can feel the electric current when you touch the water. I heard a man with a pacemaker swam his last lap there. Very tragic. In addition; snapping turtles roam the play area, no joke, I heard a teenager lost a leg. True, I heard it. There are strange people there too. Lots of boiling cabbage instead of steaks on the grill. I've never seen such a thing! There's something going on. Also, watch out for the packs of wild dogs. Oh yeah, they have those too. Wild dogs eviscerate their prey you know. True again, just watch animal planet, it's all there. But most of all, this is the unbelievable part, but so true, There's some kind of force there. I'm not saying it's alien or anything, it's just a force, but normal everyday people, dozens a day, fling themselves off the train trellis bridge there. No one cares. It's the negative non alien Force I suspect. People even clap. It's literally insane. I heard people laugh. WTH? It could be a gate to hell. It's possible. I know there's no such thing as the zombie apocalypse, but I'm just saying, if there was, it would be here. I'm sure it's fine though, I mean, it can't be real. But where are the bodies? No one knows. Shouldn't there be bodies after all the trellis jumps? I think there should. All I can say is pass this place by! Do not enter! Your children, dogs and grandpa's life may depend on it. Go up the road to Chelan, it's safe - and they have ice cream!
