Have played here a lot since it opened. Am a member. It's a beautiful setting and the course is challenging. During the 2025 golf season the course was in the best condition it had been in in years. It looked good; it was being mowed. Improvements were being made. But the pro left. Jump to mid May 2026. The course does not look good at all. So many areas not currently being mowed. Course looks unkempt. And the teeing areas? Still a mess. Most need to be rebuilt and expanded so there's more room to move the markers. But...they continue to look shabby. And don't get me started on their ponds - reed filled and unattractive. Can't believe course ownership gets away with charging what they do given the conditions. This is not an elite course that should be charging elite green fees. But it's a captive summer audience so there's no incentive to match course conditions to setting. Next time you play BM make sure you register your concerns with the clubhouse. They need to hear from players. We're all paying too much for the experience we're getting. read more

This was my fourth visit to Bear Mountain. It is a fairly challenging course for our women's group, but the staff is very helpful and friendly, there is great signage, and the views are magnificent. We particularly love the elevated tees! The fairways are in great shape. read more

I would like to leave a review that I hope is considered by not just Golfers of all skill levels but also by Don Barth (who I believe is still the owner of Desert Canyon, Bear Mountain Ranch and Rock Island) that owns and operates both Desert Canyon and Bear Mountain Ranch. I would like to premise this by stating that Desert Canyon Golf Course has been the golf course I have been proudest to play and love and still remains to be my favorite course ever created and the consistent exceptional experiences I get at that resort from both the course and the staff have always been top notch and world class. So with Desert Canyon itself, this experience continued. The course was in perfect shape, the staff were friendly and there was somebody on the first tee to get you started and answer any questions you may have for any new comers or somebody who just had questions. The only issues I was having at moments were self-inflicted skill issues in not being able to execute a shot/stroke I knew I needed to make. The other issue was a group that held us up in front on the front nine for a few holes but I believe they sped themselves up by the end of the front nine. This course still is my favorite and I felt catered to. Desert Canyon only gets a 5 Star review. So with all of this being said about Desert Canyon, I was very excited to play Bear Mountain Ranch with the same group I was with at Desert Canyon on the same vacation, two days later. I would like to get the positives out of the way first. The scenery and course layout were striking. We were lucky to have herds of deer everywhere and interactive with the course in a way that did not affect us and play with perfect weather just like Desert Canyon. However, there were some major differences in the following areas, the staffing and the course condition. Specifically with the course conditions, the tee boxes were in very poor condition and not up-kept, they were straight dirt on all of the par 3s and even some of the par 4s! On top of that, there had been no rain for weeks there with constant 80 to 90 degree temperatures, so how much water did they have to use to get many of the holes that were not straight dirt to feel like the course just endured a tsunamis' worth of water?! In addition, the staff at Bear Mountain Ranch were not accommodating and on multiple instances very rude and also not present. The gentleman who handles carts at the parking lot was very unwelcoming, stern and brash with the golf carts and made things as inconvenient as could be on top of it. When we finally was given our carts and went to the clubhouse after being forced to wait and "not being allowed to touch the carts yet" with the cold and rude tone; we were asked if we wanted range balls. While this was fine, I had asked where the practice green and chipping area was given time constraint (Teeing off in less than 25 minutes), and one of the staff went on a statement as "We have ladies coming in starting at 8am so don't bother because there is no way you are going to be able to get on." We said that we tee off at 7:57 am and will be ahead of them and we would like to get a quick feel for the green speeds and chipping. This gentleman who gave that statement looked at us as if we were asking for something illogical on top of some of these women they were clearly prioritizing to look at us like we did not belong. So this lead to at least myself feeling like they were just trying to force us to buy range balls because they did not apologize nor offer free range balls to cater to a scheduling situation they were trying to battle or should I say favor others. So after we make our way out and practice for a few they come out and offer us to go ahead and tee off early which was fine. So with agreement we proceed to the first tee box where there is NOBODY on hole number one. Hole number one is a very blind shot to where you need to be precise to get yourself set up with a good approach shot for success! So while nobody was in front of us we went ahead to use our carts to drive up to see what we were dealing with, this was still frustrating because nobody was there to do what Desert Canyon and many other elite courses will do which is mainly answer any questions you may have and or guide you with shots like these that are unknown. Also, no catering carts even showed up once on a course that asks a pretty penny in order to play it unlike Desert Canyon to where we saw her four times on our round. So I would like to conclude this review with one question to all of you: How can a company allow one course to be a basically perfect experience for the price they ask and allow/employ/train another within its ownership group to have areas where it is just the opposite? read more

Although cloudy and a bit of drizzle here and there, Bear Mountain is a must play in Washington. + Touch screen GPS + Great staff (Sam and Pat, all the cart attendants) - very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable + Challenging, but fair layout (Various lies/hills) + 5 sets of Tees + Easy to find from Alt 94 + Although wet, course drained well and greens/fairways were in great condition + Beautiful views of the valley and Lake Chelan from almost anywhere on the course + Favorite holes: 1, 3-7, 14 + 16 - Pro shop a little less stocked than most - No beverage cart; cafe was half open - Cart only course (I usually like to walk, but after playing the course, you definitely need the cart) - Course knowledge and experience is needed to determine the driving lines/angles - Least favorite holes: 2, 13 Hardest holes: 8 + 9, 15 + 18 read more

The GPS rangefinder/caddy on the golf car is very slick. The gratis uphill driving range is a great touch. The staff is extremely accommodating. And the course's ups and downs on the hillsides make for some very fun tee shots as well as amazing views of the lake. Its clear that the golf course and vines are just there to help sell real estate but who cares when its done this well. read more

This place is situated in a lovely location in the middle of a new home development that seems to be struggling. The scenery is gorgeous and the golf course easily accommodates all types of golfers offering 5 tee boxes per hole. The green fees are quite reasonable (about $39 for an 18 hole round) that includes unlimited range balls and golf cart with a state-of-the-art GPS system. I received a golf lesson there and the instructor and sales person were very professional. Needless to say, I will be back to this place for golf next time I visit Chelan. read more

You don't have to be a stellar golfer to enjoy this course. Though I do recommend you plan on playing twice. There are course knowledge secrets. Down hill runs that after the first time you are better armed with information. The staff always great. The views cannot be beat. read more

Loved this course. This was Day 7 of a 7 day golf trip around the state and was one of our favorites. Views are spectacular! The course is challenging with several blind shots, split fairways and rolling fairways. It was in fantastic shape for late September - the course marshall did a great job keeping the pace of play moving and was very attentive to our party of 3. Friendly staff in the pro shop! Being just average golfers we had asked in advance to slot us in somewhere so we wouldn't be pressured and or hold up anyone behind us. We were told that the whole afternoon was open behind us so there wouldn't be any problem. We we just starting our second shot on hole #1 when we look back and there is a Sixsome waiting to tee off behind us! Included in the sixsome was the club so called pro.I went back and offered to let them play through and and the pro said that they were booked totally behind them! So we played on and the guys behind us, who were all great golfers as their drives were all in the 300+ yard range, totally pushed and pushed us to the point we were having to play of the red tees just to stay somewhat ahead. Then the course Marshall stopped by and said the sixsome was complaining about our "slow play" WTF? I showed him the timer on the GPS unit that showed a estimated round time of 3 hours 41 minutes! By the time we got to #8 and could look back we could see that there wasn't a single group behind the people behind us. They could of played through as we offered! The sixsome stopped after nine hole so we were able to enjoy the back nine, Still, for $256 for golf for 4 people we sure didn't get to experience the golf course like we had wished. We ended up finishing all 18 holes in 4 hours 25 minutes. I still don't consider that slow play for a course like that. I think both the club/shop pro and the Marshall were rude and inconsiderate. Yes the course is beautiful but so is Desert Canyon. I was treated wonderfully at desert Canyon and I know where my money and I hope yours is spent next time you want to golf in the Chelan area. read more

I was hoping to get out early during our spring break trip. While the course doesn't open at daybreak during this time of the year the employees started rolling in shortly after I arrived. The pro shop hadn't opened yet but the superintendent stopped by my car and arranged for me to grab a cart and get on my way. I paid at the turn and finished up the round. I told Von, the head pro, I wanted to do the same thing in a couple days and he had no problem with that. The course is coming out of winter so there were a couple rough spots but even the two days between rounds was enough to recognize that the staff is working feverishly to get the course back to ideal conditions. There is not a more visually appealing course in the state in my opinion. Views of the lake, mountains, and wildlife are fantastic and are abundant throughout the round. read more
