We caught 5 different types of fish and saw all kinds of wildlife while we were there. They allow 1 team party and we had the boys over to fish, grill and play in the river. Lastly, rooms are quite outdated, lack a television, and bathrooms haven't been touched since the 60s. For this price, I'd rather spend $150 more a night and live it up at Inness. I've heard there are updates occurring this winter, perhaps some of this will change.

But Kate and Dan structured our stay to feel safe without feeling restricted. They have a great setup of six family size tents that are distanced enough to allow us to enjoy nature in solitude. They combine the best parts of camping, cabin life and a bed and breakfast. We took our two kids (five and eight years old) and they had a ball playing in the creek, swimming in the pond, playing with the dogs. In short, it's a perfect place for kids to experience the simple joys of being kids. The tents are rustic enough for an outdoorsman but comfortable enough for someone who prefers sleeping indoors. Cooking meals on your own wood-burning stove takes a bit longer, yes, but the locally sourced food is amazing. Friday night pizza night is the big event of the week. Wood-fired oven pizzas, delicious salads from the gardens and bring your own wine. And the Saturday farm breakfast hits the spot if you're dragging a bit from the previous evening's festivities. She's now 8 and we can't stop her from running. We look forward to this trip every single year. The kids love it- my 10 year old told me that this was her favorite trip and we have paid much more and traveled much further than this. The adults love giving the kids their privacy and independence. The kids are able to hike, walk the creek, collect eggs, visit the animals, milk the cow.. and the adults just need to sit back and relax. The farm store has everything you need if you want to pack light. Kate and Dan, the owners, are commited to sustainable farming and education- the kids always learn something. Save room for pizza night- it's always delicious. The tents sleep a family of 6 comfortably with a king size bed, two single bunks, and a cabinet bed suitable for two younger kids. When we needed it, there was room for a pack and play (which the farm does have on hand if you need it). Don't hesitate to book here- we've been here for all seasons- the first to check in and the last to check out. It's always pleasant. We're already looking forward to next year.

Great rental for a small family. Right on the river. About 5 to 7 minutes to Cooperstown Dream Park. Tons of wildlife across the river bank. Oh yeah, did I mention the patio off the back of the house is right on top of the river!!!!! Wake up, get some coffee and fish off the back of the house! Brent also owns the kayak/canoe store next to the rental along with Natasha, so you get FREE kayak/canoe rentals for the duration of your stay. Some might call it 'basic', but I'd say it's so much more than that. Plus the owner, Al, at the fishing and country furniture store across the road, is a lovely guy. I wouldn't recommend trying to find this place in the dark (I speak from experience) as some of the roads leading up to it don't have the best signage and there are some interesting features you have to traverse on your way there such as a one lane bridge. My boyfriend and I stayed for only one night, but would like to return to these cozy cabins. The cabins themselves are located only about 50 feet from the bank of the river which makes the scenery interesting and also good for activities like fishing and hiking. It was very quiet when we stayed since it was off season. It appears like it could be lots of fun to rent a cabin with 4-6 people and grill outside, have a fire in the pit provided, and eat at the picnic table. The cabins are small, yet comfortable and cutely rustic. Look for the cool guest books that have been signed in variably hilarious and sincere ways throughout the years. They have one large bed, two bunks, and a loft bed. The bathroom was tidy but a bit crude, especially the shower. It was clean but definitely outdoorsy and basic. The kitchen area included everything you need to prepare your own meals. The fridge was a decent size and they had lots of plates, pans, silverware, and cooking utensils for guests to use. One thing to note, is that there is electricity but no television, radio, or alarm clock provided in the cabin. It would've been nice to have brought a radio with us, had we known. Cell phone signal was pretty much nonexistent also, fyi. The owner was very pleasant when I called to ask some questions and make a reservation. She emailed me detailed directions, which was nice. I had a print out of the directions, which was important because the cell phone and internet service was patchy along the approach there, i.e. no gps/mapquest on my phone. In summary, pack like you are going on an extravagant camping trip: you won't need a tent, but it's probably worth it to have extra amenities such as flash lights and a radio. Not a "five star" experience in the classic sense of the word, but if you want a fun, rustic getaway these cabins deliver.

If you're looking for a "quaint" inn with personality & warmth, don't count on it at the Virginia Queen. Overpriced for what you get.
